Josie held Sean’s hand. “Too much time has passed since these events. Private detectives can’t find very specific clues, so we can’t find out the exact truth. Josie rubbed her face. “There’s one more thing I must do. I probably won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
“Alright, I’ll go with you.” Sean drove home.
As soon as they entered, Sean knelt on one knee, holding a very old velvet box. He said, “Originally, I wanted to do this the first day I brought you here, but that night, you were too drunk. The cake, balloons, and flowers didn’t come in handy. I haven’t found a chance in the past few days to do this again. Jojo, I’m not a very romantic person. I sincerely want to marry you. Will you marry me?”
Josie’s eyes were red. She thought of what Claire had told her. She already knew that he was thinking about marrying her when he decided to move in with her. Josie extended her hand and nodded, “Yes, I do!”
Sean put the ring on her finger, stood up, and kissed her. “This is the Reedshaw family’s heirloom ring. My mother just mailed it to me a few days ago, and the style is a bit old. You can keep it for now. When the wedding comes, you can pick out a new one you like.”
“There is no rush for the wedding.” Josie shook her head. “Let’s talk about it after I graduate with my master’s degree, okay?”
Sean kissed her forehead again. “It’s all up to you. Then, shall we find some time to register our marriage?”
She thought, ‘Why is he more eager than I?’ Josie was amused. “Alright, I agree!”
Sean took out slippers and helped her put them on, then led her inside. He said, “Originally, I had planned to propose to you that night. If you had said yes, we would have gotten our marriage certificate first thing the next morning, and then we could have spent the whole day together.” That evening would be their wedding night.
Later, things didn’t go according to plan. The wedding night did happen, but given the circumstances, he felt that it was inappropriate to propose to her at that moment, so it didn’t happen.
Josie laughed, “Except for the proposal and the marriage certificate, everything else went according to your plan, didn’t it? Are you blaming yourself for having sex before marriage? Why are you still so old-fashioned? Would you really not take care of me just because of a piece of paper?”
Sean looked back and gave her a playful glare. “Of course not. I don’t want a small oversight on my part to make you feel insecure. I don’t know about others, but for you, I want you to feel 100% comfortable.”
Josie smiled gently, “I don’t know about others either, but if I am with Sean, I won’t feel insecure. Because for over a year now, being by your side has given me a complete sense of security.”
Sean pushed open the study door, looked back, and tapped her nose. “Silly girl, don’t worry, I certainly won’t let you down. Go ahead and do what you need to do. I’ll make some food. I also have some things to handle later, so I’ll stay up with you.”
Josie stood on tiptoes and kissed his cheek. “Thank you, Sean!”
While he was momentarily distracted, Josie ran to the computer, set up her phone to point at herself and the computer, and started the live stream.
