Josie tied her hair up, revealing her delicate and lovely face. A hint of determination showed in her large eyes.
Writing several high-quality theoretical papers in one night would be impossible for any first-year graduate student, unless these papers were already written and just typed out during the live stream.
But Josie was different. It was not because she was a genius, but rather because of her experience. In her previous life, she worked for David for over a decade, diligently conducting experiments, research, and writing papers.
The research papers that should have been credited to her were all attributed to Natalie. David had claimed that while it was a team effort, Natalieโs contribution was overall the greatest, so her name would be on the paper.
Natalie ended up falsely claiming five of Josieโs papers. Due to her weakness, Josie repeatedly chose to back down. Those five papers ultimately brought Natalie great renown in the research field. However, Josie ended up being imprisoned. Josie spent every day in prison recounting her five papers, remembering every decimal point clearly, only wishing that one day, she could reclaim everything.
Josie took a deep breath, her mind refocused, and she stared intently at the screen. Not many people were watching, but since her account was registered under her real name, some people from her circle came upon hearing the news. Some people had already started criticizing her, believing she was putting on a show and couldnโt possibly have finished her goal. Others also thought she was being unrealistic since she actually dared to challenge a highly respected professor as a first-year graduate student.
Josie turned off the comments and started writing seriously. Although she claimed to write purely theoretical papers, in her previous life, the data was actually derived from extensive experiments, but she couldnโt explain this to the public. She could only claim it was purely theoretical data obtained through reasoning and calculation.
She typed on the screen. When she encountered some data, she took out her scratchpad and performed calculations meticulously. She was so engrossed in her writing that she didnโt even notice when Sean returned.
Two hours later, the first paper was writtenโor more precisely, transcribed from memory.
โHave some food, then continue!โ Sean handed her some food.
Josie took it. โThanks, Sean. You should eat as well.โ
โOkay!โ Sean remained off-camera, but his voice carried clearly. He sat directly across from Josie, also on his computer. It was unclear what he was busy with. He seemed to be handling some documents and made several phone calls in between.
Time passed by. When dawn was approaching, Josie finally completed three papers.
She stretched and said, โThank you all for watching. I will submit these three papers immediately and apply for an expedited review process. I hope everyone can see the final draft soon. Goodbye.โ
She turned off the live stream and yawned, โIโm so tired!โ
โSleep then.โ Sean walked over and carried her back to the room. Josie turned on her side, closed her eyes, and fell asleep without even taking off her clothes.
After covering her with the blanket, Sean walked to the outer room and answered the phone.
Elliot called, โSean, what do you mean by the message you sent? Could it be that my sisterโs car accident wasnโt an accident?โ
Sean shook his head. โItโs still unclear and requires further investigation. But if Josieโs speculation is true, then something must have happened that day when Aunt Dolores went to see David!โ
โGot it. Leave this to me. If that scoundrel truly attacked her, Iโll make him pay dearly for it,โ Elliot cursed angrily.
Sean raised a hand and pressed his forehead. โHow about you handle her matter, and Iโll handle yours?โ
โWhat do you mean?โ Elliotโs voice was filled with helplessness.
Sean pulled up his pant leg and sat on the sofa. โWhy donโt you just confess already? It would save me the trouble of investigating endlessly without finding anything.โ
โGet lost! Whatโs there to investigate about me? You are just so bored that you are running your imagination wild. Spend more time with Josie.โ Elliot, furious, hung up the phone.
Sean was filled with helplessness. Ever since he realized Elliot was hiding something, he had never stopped investigating.
