Chapter 63
Kevin chuckled. “Here I was thinking that you’re going to ask for a big favor. You can count on me for this; I’ll look for it and get it to you tomorrow, but I can’t…”
“As you know, I’ve never tidied up my stuff.”
Russell’s heart skipped a beat. Kevin had always looked down on him because Luna was the one who brought him to the team. When Russell’s grades came close to catching up to Trevor’s, Kevin finally treated him better. Now, Luna had left the team and humiliated him in public. If memory served him correctly, Kevin had tried winning her heart when she had just joined the team. Kevin might have said that he would no longer care about her, but no one knew whether he would maliciously target Russell over the confrontation.
And he sobered up significantly. “I hope you’ll search for it. Please, Kevin. As you know, it’s very important to me.”
“Let’s get real,” Kevity’s arm slipped off Russell’s shoulder. He turned to glance at Russell. “Even if I found and gave you the documents, it might not be any good to you either. After all, those are materials for last year’s MCAT.”
“As far as Llewow, the MCAT changes every year. Instead of relying on my documents, you should ask Mia to compile another set. Professor Hamling values her right now, and she managed to come up with an innovative medical idea. It’s obvious that she’s much smarter than Luna; it stands to reason that her compilation will be better than the one Luna got me.”
“Actually, that was a wonderful point! How had Russell not thought of it?”
Russell’s eyes sparkled. “I’m going to ask Mia about it tomorrow, then. She has just joined the team, though. Is it appropriate for me to be bossing her around?”
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Kerin gave Russell a disdainful expression. “It’s not like you didn’t order Luna around when she was still with us. You’ve never stopped to think whether it was appropriate back then, have you? More importantly, Mia is recruited into the team because we needed someone to take care of menial tasks. Why else would Professor Hanley have brought her to the team? Do you suppose he did it because she’s pretty?”
Russell was at a loss for words. He had to be the only person who dared to say something like this. It might’ve been an unspoken agreement among all of them, but it should never have been said out loud, either.
Joussell’s lips twitched, but he fell silent. Eventually, all of them went back to their bedrooms, keeping their private thoughts to themselves.
In the blink of an eye, it was already the next day. Russell didn’t hesitate for too long before he looked for Mia. In fact, Mia already knew that she would have to do tasks like this. After all, she was the team’s intern assistant. That was the lowest position on the team, and her job was to compile documents, assist her seniors with their experiments, tidy up the lab apparatus, and more. Lama had to be the only one who would willingly do all this stuff for them, but the same couldn’t be said for Mia. Mia got the intern team being their maid… because she wanted to elevate her academic and social status, making her profile look good instead of being… that, as it may, she couldn’t eject Russell outright. So, she nodded merrily and responded, “Alright. Leave it to me. I’ll make sure to compile it.”
He expected Mia to agree without a fuss. He said happily, “Thanks, Mia! I’ll treat you to coffee sometime.”
After he left, Mia pursed her lips. What a stingy man Russell was. She didn’t need him to buy her coffee at all, as she had no intention of compiling the documents. Turning around, Mia looked for Kevin. From what she had gathered, Luna compiled some information for his MCAT. All she had to do was flirt with him a little, and she’d definitely get it.
It had been a week since Edgar’s funeral. Suzie and Rhett returned to campus. Lama didn’t go to the hospital this week. The only thing she did was stay in her dormitory and study every day. From time to time, she would attend a couple of her courses; she would have had too much of an impact if she hadn’t attended them. After all, she was a PhD graduate in her past life. She had mastered cell biology knowledge, and she would still get good grades, even if she didn’t attend lectures. The more challenging part was acupuncture. Returning to campus, she would unload the questions on them. After a week of study, she had accumulated a lot of questions. Once Suzie and Rhett returned to campus, they were already waiting for her in front of her dormitory before she could even open her book for them.
