Chapter 92
“No!” Mia felt a surge of joy, a bright flash of excitement crossing her face. “Wyatt, please don’t say that. It’s not Professor Hanley’s fault. It’s just my bad luck.”
“It’s my greatest honor that Professor Hanley values me so much. I’m proud to stay on the team. I’ll just apologize to Luna. I’ll do anything to put your mind at ease.”
Her maturity and obedience pleased Wyatt even more, and it seemed that apologizing to Luna was not as difficult as he thought. At least through this matter, they once again realized that Mia had a broad heart and a noble mindset. She came from a distinguished family and had an extraordinary demeanor, unlike Luna, who came across as petty.
Once Wyatt turned his back, Mia’s face flashed with a smug expression—these men were so easy to deceive. She had to thank Luna. If it weren’t for her pushing the plagiarism issue, she wouldn’t have gained Wilson’s trust so quickly or integrated into the team as fast, making everyone so concerned about her.
Luna should just wait. Considering she had given her a huge gift, Mia would make sure to return it in kind.
After leaving the lab, Mia pulled out another phone from her bag. Luna had been incredibly busy these past few days, barely spending time in her dorm. She was either in the lab working on her competition project or at the hospital with Erin for practical lessons.
When she saw the public apology letter that Wyatt had posted online on behalf of the team, it was already 11:00 pm, and she had just come out of the hospital’s treatment room. She yawned, staring at the phone, her eyes almost tearing up from laughter. She had been waiting for this apology letter for so long, in this life and the last. She finally saw them lower their heads, but she didn’t need it. Especially when she saw the part of the letter where they stated they would welcome her back into the team at any time. It only made her feel disgusted. Below the letter, bets had already started pouring in.
“I bet one dollar that Luna will definitely return to Professor Hanley’s team!”
“There’s no need to bet even a dime. It’s obvious—she did all this just to get back into Professor Hanley’s team. It’s the top team in our school, after all.”
“You guys are wrong. Not only is it the top team in our school, but it’s also the top research team in the country, with the most popular fields. She’s not foolish, so why wouldn’t she return?”
And so on, with everyone assuming she would return to Wilson’s team. There was only one comment that stood out—bold and unique.
“I bet she won’t come back. If I lose, I’ll give every person who commented ten thousand dollars each.”
“Wow, that’s a big claim! Ten thousand dollars per person? Have you ever seen how many students we have at our school? Can you afford that?”
“Exactly. Don’t talk big and then back out. Anyone with eyes can see that Luna won’t turn down Professor Hanley’s offer. After all, he’s Professor Hanley!”

The bold guy replied again, “Alright, let’s make a bet. If I lose, I’ll give ten thousand dollars to everyone who comments. If I don’t, I’m a coward. If you lose, you don’t owe anything—just do one good deed each.”
At that moment, Wyatt spoke up, using an anonymous account. But Luna immediately recognized it was him.
“Since the trend above is so sincere, I’ll take the bet. If Luna chooses to return to Professor Hanley’s team, I’ll give ten thousand dollars to everyone who comments. To show my sincerity, I’ll share my account balance right now.”
The bold guy responded. “Fine. Here’s my balance.”
Attached was a screenshot. Seeing that, the students in the comments were sure these two were big spenders. Many people started clinging to them, trying to get in their good graces. There were all kinds of flattering comments, which made Luna’s frustrated mood lighten up and even made her chuckle.
Rhett came out of the room and saw Luna grinning while staring at her phone. He couldn’t help but smile as well. “Why aren’t you resting but staring at your phone and grinning?”
