Though many things had changed since her rebirth, Mia’s goal remained the same—they would ultimately become opposing forces. Their team had six people, but right now, Erin’s team only had Rhett, Suzie, and her. Clearly, it wasn’t enough. She needed more talent to help her.
But for now, she kept quiet. She did not want to disappoint Nicole if things didn’t work out. Five days passed quickly, and Luna spent almost every day at the hospital and school. Et said that her basic knowledge of acupuncture was solid, and she would progress to the next phase of her studies after the school competition. For now, she was to focus on the competition.
Lana packed up her things at the dorm, planning to stay at school that evening since the competition was the next day. Even though it was just after 6:00 pm in October, it was already pitch dark in the north. She tightened her coat and turned into the alley next to the hospital on her way to the dorm. It was a path she took regularly.
Once inside, she realized the streetlights in the alley were faulty. The small alley, about 65 feet long, was pitch black and unnerving. After walking a few steps, she hesitated and turned to take another route. But as soon as she turned, she ran into someone.
Luma gasped in fright, and before she could react, she felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck. Then, everything went black. When she woke up, she was in an old, abandoned warehouse. She moved her limbs and found that she was tied up in a spread-eagle position, lying on a ripped mattress.
Chapter 98
Lana turned her head and saw the figures of five adult men not far away. The men were gathered around a square table, eating and drinking, and none of them noticed she had woken up. Her mind was buzzing—why had these men tied her up? If they were after money, they would have taken it and left. If it were about taking advantage of her, they wouldn’t have left her tied up here to be forgotten. Moreover, she wasn’t even attractive, and her figure wasn’t anything to look at.
After thinking for a while, she could only come up with one possibility—revenge. Having lived two lives, the only person she had ever offended was Mia, especially since she had just humiliated her so badly. Even Wilson’s team had apologized to her. From what Luna knew of Mia, she wouldn’t let this go. After all, she had once destroyed Jade’s life just because Jade had accidentally called Wyatt’s name. Now that it involved someone she truly hated, there was no way she would hold back.
Were five of them here? Could they be…?
Lutu suddenly realized something. In her past life, the men who had raped Jade were also five in number. The thought chilled her to the bone. Her face went pale, and her heart raced uncontrollably. What was she going to do? Was she supposed to just sit and wait for them to finish eating and then…?
Luna didn’t want to imagine what Jade had gone through that night, but she certainly didn’t want to experience the same thing. She subtly moved her limbs and found that while the ropes weren’t too tight, they were still far too secure for her to untie them. The chances of her escaping were slim.
Luna steeled herself. “Hey… I need to use the bathroom!” The men eating at the table heard her, and after exchanging glances, David Kennedy stood up and walked toward her. “You’re such a pain in the ass!” he grumbled as he approached, starting to untie the ropes while inspecting her. “Ash, come look! This woman might be a little thin, but she’s not bad looking. The best part is, she’s got guts. She doesn’t cry or complain and dares to boss me around!”
David pulled Luna up from the bed, getting closer and staring at her intently. Luna could smell the strong stench of smoke and sweat coming from him. The weather had turned cooler, yet he still reeked of body odor. How long had it been since he had taken a shower? Seeing she didn’t show fear and even stepped back in disgust, he yanked her closer by the rope. “How dare you show me that look! You’ll be the first to…”
“Dave,” a burly man called out, turning his head. “Stop wasting time with her. Take her to the back and get her ready. We’re going to have some fun soon.” David didn’t dare delay any further. He roughly grabbed Luna and cursed as he dragged her toward the back of the warehouse.
The back of the warehouse was dark and cluttered with piles of junk. As he wasn’t paying attention, Luna reached into her pocket. Inside her coat pocket was a small pack of silver needles, a gift from Erin for passing the first stage of her acupuncture studies earlier that afternoon. These men seemed overly confident or careless, as they hadn’t searched her pockets.
Luna sighed in relief and quietly palmed two silver needles. When they reached the bathroom, David pushed the door open and said, “Hurry up! Don’t make me…” Luna went inside and shut the door. The ropes binding her hands and feet were still outside the door, jamming the door. As she was inside, David peered through the crack with a lewd smile on his face.
