Listen to this chapter:

Suzanne walked in, lunchbox in hand. Gabriel closed the door behind him and turned toward the elevator. Austin, thinking it was Gabriel, didn't look up as he insisted, "Bring me the Eastside…" He stopped mid-sentence, glancing up and seeing Suzanne. His hand, holding a document, hung in mid-air; surprise flickered in his eyes. He then asked, "What brings you here?"

The next moment, his eyes fell upon the lunchbox, and warmth replaced the surprise. Suzanne smiled, placing the lunchbox on his desk. "I thought I should bring you some food," she said softly. "Why don't you eat before getting back to work?" She glanced around his office, noting the austere decor, which seemed to reflect his cold, serious nature.

Austin raised an eyebrow, setting the document down. If Gabriel were here, he would instantly know Austin was in a very good mood. Austin stood, walked around his desk to Suzanne, picked up the lunchbox with one hand, and took hers with the other. The warmth of his touch made her freeze; her gaze fell on their interlocked fingers. Before she could react, Austin led her to the couch, placing the lunchbox on the coffee table. "Eat with me," he asked.

His effortless gestures made Suzanne feel somewhat awkward. She quickly opened the container, shook her head, and said, "It's alright. You can go ahead." She could eat later. Austin had already lifted the lid. Inside were several dishes and a stew, each as appetizing as it smelled. He asked in surprise, "You made this?" He knew what was usually available, and this was clearly different.

Suzanne nodded, replying with a small hum. She looked at Austin, remembering a video she'd seen at home. After a brief hesitation, she said, "I wasn't aware of the etiquette around sitting in… I'll be more mindful from now on." She hadn't paid much attention to such things before and was a little slow to learn.

He raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly. "So, how did you find out today?"

Suzanne didn't hide it. "I saw it on a video." If she hadn't stumbled upon it, she probably wouldn't have known.

Before Austin could respond, Suzanne pushed the lunchbox toward him, smiling. "This is my apology gift."

Austin's gaze softened; he found her adorable. He set the lunchbox down and said softly, "Looks like I got a good deal. I never expected my wife to be able…"

Suzanne was slightly taken aback. She hadn't expected such a teasing remark from him. He gestured toward the lunchbox and asked again, "Let's eat together."

Suzanne shook her head. "It's fine. You should eat it before it gets cold." But Austin had already picked up a spoon and placed it in her hand, not allowing her to refuse. "Eat," he said. He took a bite, his eyes reflecting approval. "It tastes good." At that moment, he was truly surprised. He had dined at many top-rated hotels and tasted dishes prepared by world-class chefs, but it was Suzanne's cooking that satisfied him the most.

Suzanne replied with a small smile, "As long as you like it." Many people knew she was a great cook, and Mandy and Celine often wanted her to cook for them. She was young and naive back then, thinking hard work and dedication would earn their love. But she had proven herself foolish.
