Chapter 171
Tabim had taken his fair share of painkillers over the past few years, so much so that his body had developed a resistance. If he continued taking them, he would require larger doses for the medication to be effective. Due to this, his liver was getting damaged, making it all the more difficult to estimate the right dose for him. Nonetheless, William had no other choice if he wanted to save Fabian’s life. Through gritted teeth, he gave a firm order: “Alright, give him the medicine!”
Upon saying that, William and Samuel began making the necessary preparations. Ine’s eyes dimmed when she noticed the dose they were preparing for Fabian. She stepped forward immediately. “Hold on. Let me have a look.” She prompted both doctors to turn around.
At this moment, Suzanne was already walking over. Nate couldn’t feel at ease when he saw that. He looked toward Aaron and asked, “Mr. Stanton, is she really a doctor?”
Throughout these years, Aaron had hired a number of doctors for Fabian. As such, Nate was rather respectful towards him. However, this woman was such a young doctor. He couldn’t even be sure if she was a doctor, let alone how skilled she might be.
Without waiting for Aaron’s response, Yasmine interjected, “Mr. Ziegler, I wasn’t able to walk before this. She was the one who treated me.” Yasmine said this with a smile on her face, looking at Suzanne with an overt confidence.
Nate was amazed by what Yasmine said. He had heard about Yasmine’s legs some time ago. He couldn’t believe that Yasmine’s legs were treated by this young woman. He now looked at Suzanne differently.
Austin did not say a word the entire time. Even so, he kept his eyes on Suzanne as his eyes twinkled subtly with pride.
Williams stepped forward to stop Suzanne. In a displeased tone, he said, “Don’t get in our way, young lady.” Fabian’s condition was deteriorating. Seeing that filled both Samuel and William with a sense of urgency. Who were these people? Why were they here to interfere? Suzanne stood her ground.
As a hot-tempered man, William’s patience quickly ran out. He yelled, “Get out of the way!” He extended his arm to pull Suzanne out of the way. Gloomy looks crossed Austin’s and the others’ faces. They stopped immediately.
However, right at this moment, Suzanne grabbed firmly onto William’s wrist. He tried to free himself, only to find that Suzanne had locked his wrist down, and he had no way of freeing himself. Deep down, William was shocked to learn how strong this woman was. She lifted her head and shot him a sharp glare. In a firm voice, she warned, “If you insist on getting in my way, even the gods won’t be able to save him.”
She let go of William’s hand and then pulled out her silver needles as quickly as she could. With a concerned expression on his face, Samuel looked at William. “What’s going on? How did he end up being restrained by a young woman?”
William rubbed his sore wrist. Staring at Suzanne, he commanded in a furious tone, “Stop her! Don’t allow her to do as she wishes!” It was a matter of life and death. Aware of how serious this matter was, he wanted to go forward to pull Suzanne away. But he found Austin standing right in front of her. Standing upright, he exuded an air of dominance. With a frigid gaze, he commanded firmly, “Leave her be!”
Azon and Tasmine stepped forward too. Nate frowned. Even though he didn’t really trust her, the Halls were the ones who recommended her. Besides, he was wavering as well. Realizing that the situation didn’t look quite right, he stepped up swiftly to mediate. “Excuse me—”
Nevertheless, before he could finish his sentence, Samuel pointed at Suzanne and gasped, “What are you doing? Stop!” Everyone looked in Suzanne’s direction, only to see her taking a silver needle in her hand and placing it between Fabian’s eyebrows.
Fabian, who was coiled up in pain, started to relax all over. He just started to moan weakly.
