Chapter 249

The Klein family members were puzzled. What good news could the Hell Monarch possibly share?

Seeing their confusion, Derek continued, โ€œPrince Rafael discovered a child beggar in Greenbrook County who bears a striking resemblance to the late General Sinclairโ€™s second son. His Highness called him by name, and, to his surprise, the child beggar responded.โ€

Anthony, finding this absurd, interrupted. โ€œMr. Walker, so His Highness saw someone resembling Ryan and reported it to His Majesty. What is the significance? Just because someone looks like Ryan doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s him. Why report this to His Majesty?โ€

Anthony was perplexed and angry. The loss of Yvette and Ryan was a deep wound for the Klein family, especially for the matriarch, who could not bear to hear such news. What kind of good news was it to report seeing someone who merely resembled Ryan? It caused everyone to rush home, only to hear this absurd news, making Anthony irate with Rafael.

Derek raised a hand to calm them. โ€œPlease, donโ€™t be anxious. If it were just a resemblance, His Highness wouldnโ€™t have traveled from Greenbrook County to Eldoria. Lady Sinclair went to Eldoria several days ago. It has now been confirmed that the child beggar is indeed Ryan Sinclair, the son of the late General Sinclair. They should be arriving in the capital in a few days.โ€

His words sent shivers down everyoneโ€™s spines.

Anthonyโ€™s face darkened. He vehemently denied, โ€œItโ€™s impossible! Absolutely impossible! Ryanโ€™s dead. I held him myselfโ€ฆ stitched his body together! Mr. Walker, you canโ€™t say this. We donโ€™t believe it. I donโ€™t know if Lady Sinclair knows itโ€™s true or not, but to claim that the child beggar is Ryanโ€ฆ I know she hopes someone from her family survived, but thatโ€™s impossible!โ€

Diana had already started to cry. Her daughter and grandson had been dead for two years; why this disturbance now? Was Carissa out of her mind?

Derek, seeing their reactions, said, โ€œWhether you believe it or not, you will find out the truth when Prince Rafael and Lady Sinclair return to the capital.โ€

With that, he left.

The Klein family members exchanged glances, their faces reflecting a shared sense of absurdity.

Diana cried for a while before choking out, โ€œPlease donโ€™t tell Mother. She wonโ€™t be able to bear it!โ€

Sophia replied, โ€œFortunately, we havenโ€™t informed her yet. However, the physician has already given her the Heartshield Pill.โ€

A profound sadness settled over everyone, their mood darkening as a cloud of sorrow enveloped them.

Edward sighed heavily, sitting in a chair and staring blankly at the courtyard. His thoughts drifted to his understanding daughter and lively, intelligent grandson. His heart ached as if it were being torn apart.

Who wouldnโ€™t wish for it to be true? But how could it be? He had seen the bodies of his daughter and grandson with his own eyes. His grandsonโ€™s death was particularly tragic. Though his face was unrecognizable, the bell-shaped gold bracelet on his wrist was not. Ingrid had specifically commissioned it for Ryanโ€™s fourth birthday. There could be no mistake.

Derekโ€™s visit had drained the light from everyoneโ€™s eyes, as if the events of that day were being forced upon them once more, stirring a deep discomfort they didnโ€™t know how to dispel.

Anthony pondered momentarily, then sent a servant to Northwatch Estate to inquire whether Carissa had gone out. When the servant returned, he reported that Carissa had left for the Starlight Harvest Festival, alone.

โ€œShe left on the day of the festival itself. She must have been very anxious,โ€ Sophia said, looking at her husband.

โ€œSheโ€ฆโ€ Anthony wanted to complain about Carissa, but remembered their previous meeting. He knew she had never truly let go and was suffering greatly.
