Chapter 606
Viola was unaware of Zoey's actions. Having returned to Valor Estate, she told Rebecca and Barrett she wasn't feeling well, claiming a physician attributed her anxiety to a recent fright and prescribed rest. Barrett, feeling guilty about the assassination attempt that had terrified her and grieving for Julia and Yvonne, readily agreed.
Viola planned a short recovery at Valor Estate, then a longer rest at Silverstone Estate. However, on the third day, she overheard servants gossiping about Thomas seeking a wife. This was impossible; Thomas had promised her, and surely knew about the assassination attempt. He wouldn't abandon her.
She harshly questioned her maids about the rumor: "You two never leave the estate! Where did you hear this nonsense about Major General Farrell looking for a wife? Spread such rumors again, and I'll have your tongues cut out!"
Terrified, the maids explained they'd heard it from the kitchen staff, the news having spread widely among the nobility. Viola, disbelieving, immediately departed for Silverstone Estate with Poppy.
Evelyn, still furious from Viola's last visit, demanded, "What are you doing here?"
Viola, eyes bloodshot, ignoring Luna's presence, asked, "Is it true? Is Thomas looking for a wife?"
Evelyn coldly replied, "If he is, what concern is it of ours?"
"He promised me!" Viola insisted, turning to Luna. "Is it true?"
After helping Evelyn lie down, Luna confirmed the rumor, explaining that Thomas's military achievements and the Farrell family's reputation had made him a highly sought-after husband. Many noble families had already inquired.
Viola, incredulous, cried, "He promised me! How could he?"
Luna calmly responded, "Viola, you're pregnant. Don't get upset."
"He's my husband!" Viola snapped.
"Your husband is Barrett," Luna gently corrected.
Viola, angered, lashed out, "Who are you to speak of my relationship with him?"
Luna, refusing further abuse, retorted, "Then don't ask me. Find out yourself."
Viola, desperate, pleaded with Evelyn to intervene with the Farrells. Evelyn, enraged by Viola's manipulative words, cried out, "You shameless girl! Get out!"
Viola, kneeling and weeping, confessed the Warren family was miserable and begged her mother not to let her die there. Evelyn, heartbroken and furious at her daughter's manipulation, could only point towards the door, "Get out!"
