Chapter 607

Viola was heartbroken. Her husband's family despised her, and her own family refused to help. What was the point?

Still, she refused to give up. Thomas wasn't the kind of man to break his word. He still had feelings for herโ€”he had to! She needed to confront him.

She knew it was inappropriate to see him in her current state, but she didn't care. She had to speak to him in person.

The carriage arrived at the Farrell residence. Viola alighted and walked straight to the gate. Seeing her, the gatekeeper stammered, "Ms. Prโ€”I mean, Mrs. Warren."

She frowned. "What nonsense is that? Why 'Mrs. Warren'? Is Thomas inside?"

The gatekeeper hesitated, then nodded. "He is."

Without another word, Viola stormed inside, Poppy nervously trailing behind. Poppy's legs trembled; she couldn't stop her mistress. How could they barge into the Farrell residence like this? If the Warren family found out, there would be hell to pay!

Viola's actions stunned the Farrell family. After all, she was no longer part of their family. How dare she waltz in unannounced? And to demand to see Thomas, who was about to propose to someone else? Her appearance could ruin everything.

Alice, who had once sympathized with Viola, was furious. She ordered Opal to keep the incident secret and moved Viola's carriage to a discreet location.

Alice refused to let Thomas meet Viola, but Viola was determined. She sat in the main hall, refusing to leave, demanding only to see Thomas.

Alice was speechless, but Opal finally intervened. "Viola, you're married to the Warren family. It's inappropriate to seek him out. Besides, he's about to marry. This is bad for both of you."

Viola's only response: "I want to see him!"

No matter what they said, she wouldn't budge. Thomas didn't come out. Instead, he sent an old maid.

The old maid said, "Mr. Thomas asks me to convey this, Mrs. Warren: 'If you want something kept secret, don't do it in the first place.' He advises you to take care of yourself and live your separate lives."

Viola's face went pale. She froze. He knew? How?

It wasn't possible! Silas hadn't told him, and her family wouldn't. "Did you understand, Mrs. Warren? Then you should leave," the old maid said. Viola, numb and dazed, stumbled outside.

Poppy barely supported her. "Madam Viola, are you alright?" Viola's mind was blank; her steps were unsteady. Moments ago, she'd been determined to see Thomas. Now, she wished she'd never see him again.

Why hadn't he died in the Southern Frontier? Why return and give her hope, only to crush it? Who told him?

She climbed into the carriage, trembling with fear and panic. He knew; the Farrells would know; everyone would know. She wouldn't even need a divorceโ€”Barrett would cast her out.

Silas wouldn't have said anything. But he and Carissa had been seen entering the Arcane Sanctum together. Could Carissa have investigated? Did Silas slip something? Carissa would love to ruin Viola. If she found out, she'd tell Thomas.

It had to be Carissa!

Rage consumed Viola. If she was ruined, Carissa wouldn't escape unscathed. In a fit of fury, Viola yanked open the curtain and shouted, "To the Hell Monarch Estate!"
