Chapter 665
The resemblance was uncanny! The similarities were striking. From the face shape to the eyebrows, eyes, nose, and even the beauty mark above her lip—everything about the woman in the portrait was identical to Darin, whom Violet had met earlier that day.
Violet gasped, overwhelmed by a sense of absurdity. The woman she'd just met was vividly depicted in a painting, and Kyle hadn't even seen Darin beforehand. How could he have portrayed her so realistically?
She turned to Kyle and Jacob, who were studying another portrait. "This one," she said, "shows what she'd look like with a good life, plenty of resources—rounded and healthy."
Kyle continued, "This one is similar, but with different eyebrows and a hairstyle. This next one depicts her in worse condition; I assumed she wasn't getting enough to eat or stay warm."
Kyle waved Violet away. "Violet, move. You're blocking our view."
Violet, struggling to speak, pointed at the first painting. "I met this person today."
All eyes, including Jacob's, turned to her. Her arm trembled as she pointed again, swallowing hard before looking at Kyle with trembling eyes.
"Kyle, did you follow me to Grovehill Estate today? Did you see her? If not, how could you paint someone so similar? Even her clothes are the same color!"
Jacob, usually composed, lost his composure. He grabbed Violet's shoulders and shook her. "What did you say? You saw someone identical to this woman at Grovehill Estate?!"
Startled by Jacob's shocked expression, Violet instinctively called out, "Cari!"
Rafael intervened, pulling Jacob back. "Jacob, don't be rude."
Carissa took Violet's hand, her gaze intense. "You went to Grovehill Estate today? Who did you see there who resembles this woman?"
"Darin!" Violet exclaimed, still in disbelief. "The resemblance is incredible! Her clothes are the same color, her eyebrows, her eyes, even the beauty mark above her lip. If you saw her, you'd think they were the same person!"
"Darin? The woman Eleanor saved? The one marrying Thomas?" Carissa's expression changed dramatically.
"Yes!" Violet shivered. "Could Darin be Jacob's sister?"
Rafael led Jacob aside and poured him water. He needed to calm down before continuing his questioning. Jacob's forceful gulp nearly choked him, leaving him gasping for breath. He narrowed his eyes at Violet.
Chapter 665 (continued)
"Ms. Spencer, please… tell me more."
Violet took the painting to the table, studying it closely. Taking a deep breath, she felt even more certain. Now she understood Darin's odd familiarity.
She laid the painting flat, examining the features. There was a hint of resemblance to Carissa's mother, Melanie Sullivan.
Violet then looked at the painting Carissa had been studying, which showed even more of Melanie, especially since the later years had left Melanie thinner and dull-eyed from crying.
Finding herself alone in the study, Violet spoke bluntly.
"Two things: first, this painting slightly resembles Melanie, Carissa's mother. Second, the woman in this painting is named Darin—Lisette Sanford. Eleanor saved her, and she's marrying Thomas to manipulate him."
"What?" Jacob looked startled. "She's from Eleanor's side? What happened to her that required Eleanor's help?"
"Don't panic, Jacob. This 'rescue' might be more complicated than we think. I planned to have Kyle paint Darin's portrait and send someone to inquire about her in Stonebridge County," Violet said.
