Chapter 117: Calculated Moves

The bodyguard, believing he had diligently fulfilled his duties without fault so far, whispered, “Sir, you…”

Before he could finish, he heard Easton command, “Send a female bodyguard over.”

“Right away!”

The bodyguard immediately made a call to find a female colleague to take over the shift. After issuing the order, Easton turned back to glance at the closed door of the room.

What is Ellis doing inside right after I left! Where were those rustling sounds coming from?

But the source of the noises wasn’t his concern; it was the unrelenting agitation he couldn’t vent. Just moments ago, he was certain that Ellis ignoring him fueled an uncontrollable irritation throughout his body. The more she ignored him, the more he wanted to find a way to make her pay attention.

It used to be Ellis begging for my attention. When did the tables turn, and I became the one craving her attention? It’s absurd and completely unreasonable. Doesn’t Ellis understand her situation?

After Easton forcibly took Ellis away, Carly was worried but knew Easton was not someone to provoke lightly. Going to him directly might only make things worse for Ellis. Carly tried to get her father to rescue Ellis from Easton’s clutches, but he was unwilling to help.

Over a restless night, as Carly hesitated whether to contact Sophia, Maya called her. Maya was Ellis’s best friend. She answered politely, “Ms. Maya.”

“Ms. Carly, I can’t reach Ellis. Have you been able to contact her?”

Best friends normally talk every day, chatting casually and about serious matters alike. Maya had sent a WhatsApp message to Ellis yesterday, and after half a day without a reply, her voice messages also went unanswered. Maya sensed something was amiss.

“Ellis, she…” Should family matters be kept private? Carly pondered for a moment then continued, “She was taken away by Easton from where I live last night.”

Let it out; after investigating, Carly found that Ellis had drafted a divorce agreement with Maya’s help. She figured Ellis hadn’t kept Maya in the dark, so there was no harm in telling her about last night.

“Easton took Ellis?” Maya’s volume spiked. “Where did he take her?”

“Ellis told me that Easton plans to confine her.”

Maya was stunned.

“I’m trying to find a way to rescue Ellis; don’t worry.” The line went silent; Carly thought Maya was probably worried, “The chances of Easton harming Ellis are not high.”

“Ms. Carly, I don’t mean to speak ill of Easton, but with what he’s done to Ellis, it’s clear he’s out to get her. You say he’s not likely to harm her; how can I believe that?”

As she spoke, Maya asked, “Ms. Carly, do you know what Easton has done to Ellis?”

Chapter 117: Calculated Moves

Carly sighed, her worries escalating, “What hasn’t he done to Ellis? I haven’t been spared either.”

Maya’s mouth twitched; she said, “First, find out where Easton is confining Ellis. I’m worried he might act out and hurt her; we need to organize a rescue right away.”

“Just a moment.”

After hanging up, Carly wasted no time in seeking information.

Upon receiving the address from Carly, my first thought was to go there immediately. Then, considering the challenges, Dynasty Estate is a luxurious gated community with excellent security. How can I get in? How can I take Ellis away under Easton’s watch? The difficulties were daunting, and Maya repeatedly dialed Carly’s number.

“Ms. Carly, is there a way we can both get into Dynasty Estate?”

Before she could finish, she thought of a potential solution.

“Should we call the police and ask them to accompany us?”

Carly choked up like she’d swallowed the wrong way. “We can’t call the police.”

“Legally speaking, if Easton has broken the law, calling the police is the quickest solution.” Maya, a legal worker, was adept at solving problems with legal means and government assistance.

“Easton confining Ellis could be a legal violation on a large scale or, on a smaller scale, he might claim to the police that they were just playing around as husband and wife.” Carly had considered more implications than Maya.

Rescuing Ellis from Easton was crucial, but how they would live afterward was even more critical. Could we afford to fully alienate Easton?

Weighing the pros and cons, Maya asked, “Shall we go to Dynasty Estate together now?”

“Let’s go to Hudson Group and talk to Easton first.”

Carly didn’t own property at Dynasty Estate, and on the surface, it seemed she couldn’t enter. However, the elite circles were small, and it was easy to find a contact who lived there.

But directly demanding Easton release Ellis was unlikely to work.

Communication first….

“Okay, Ms. Carly, I’ll follow your lead!”

Maya trusted Carly truly wanted to rescue Ellis. After all, Carly, having no children of her own, had raised Ellis for many years. Even if their relationship was superficial, there was genuine affection.
