Chapter 150: Blacklist and Backlash

Put Victoria on the companyโ€™s blacklist. Perhaps driven by irritation, Easton no longer wanted to see Victoria at the company. Finished.

Eastonโ€™s words were clear, and Taylor, taken aback but maintaining professionalism, responded dutifully, โ€œYes, Mr. Hudson!โ€ The security personnel shared her surprise.

Once outside the CEOโ€™s office, the three of them exchanged puzzled looks, their confusion mirrored on each otherโ€™s faces. โ€œTaylor, Mr. Hudson said to blacklist Ms. Victoria, right? I didnโ€™t mishear him?โ€ the security officer closest to Taylor inquired.

โ€œYou heard right,โ€ Taylor confirmed, while trying to decipher Eastonโ€™s intentions. โ€œMs. Victoria was Mr. Hudsonโ€™s first love, and sheโ€™s always had the privilege to come and go as she pleases here,โ€ remarked one of the security officers.

Before his colleague could finish, another added, โ€œDidnโ€™t Mr. Hudson also ban Ms. Harper from the company at one point? And when she came to the company, Mr. Hudson didnโ€™t make a fuss about it.โ€

They were stuck with a dilemmaโ€”whether to put Victoria on the blacklist or not. If they did enforce it and Victoria showed up, denying her entry could lead to a serious backlash from Easton later.

Taylor quickly grasped the crux of the matter, which was whether Eastonโ€™s current and former flames should have the same privileges. Both women were significant figures not to be offended, and the situation had to be handled delicately.

After some thought, Taylor suggested, โ€œIf Ms. Victoria comes to the company again, we follow the standard company protocols. Weโ€™ll ask her the purpose of her visit, then she will inform me, and Iโ€™ll consider the situation before informing Mr. Hudson.โ€

It seemed like a safe approach. With Taylor as the intermediary, the security teamโ€™s risk of facing repercussions was greatly reduced, and they both nodded in agreement.

After discussing with the security staff, Taylor returned to her temporary workspace. During the short wait for Taylor, Victoria sat nearby, a cup of iced drink in front of her. Drinking two cups of the chilled beverage did little to soothe her unsettled nerves. She was gambling on whether Easton would leave her any dignity, and whether her impromptu visit to Hudson Group, failing to secure Eastonโ€™s attendance at her companyโ€™s celebration, might yield any other benefits.

Seeing Taylor return with a friendly smile, Victoria didnโ€™t stand up but sized up Taylor from head to toe, waiting for her to speak first.

Coming from a wealthy, noble background gave Victoria a certain air of arrogance, and with the potential to become the matriarch of the commercial giant Hudson Group, she exuded an aura of superiority.

โ€œMs. Victoria, let me introduce myself,โ€ Taylor maintained her smile. โ€œI was previously in charge of the mobile business unit. I just started as Mr. Hudsonโ€™s assistant today, and Iโ€™m still transitioning into the role.โ€

โ€œWhereโ€™s Jackson?โ€ Victoria was used to dealing with Jackson for business. โ€œDidnโ€™t he hand over my matters to you?โ€

Taylor sat back at her desk and opened her laptop. โ€œHe was fired by Mr. Hudson and didnโ€™t have a chance to hand anything over. Could you please state your business now?โ€

Assessing Taylorโ€™s demeanor, and with the uniformed men nowhere in sight, Victoria deduced that Easton had saved her face, not revealing her as the unwanted guest. She felt an instant relief, believing she still held a unique place in Eastonโ€™s heart. Victoria raised her chin a bit higher and discussed her companyโ€™s needs with Taylor.

Taylor meticulously recorded Victoriaโ€™s requirements, aiming to understand how Jackson had previously managed things, and maintained a pleasant demeanor throughout, eventually escorting Victoria downstairs.

1:54 PM

Victoria didnโ€™t head straight back to her company but went to Nexus Group to see Morty. Confronting Morty, she slammed her bag in front of him, venting her frustration from the encounter with Easton. Finished.

โ€œYour reliable source claimed that Easton has always despised Ellis and didnโ€™t love her. Why then does he explode whenever their divorce is mentioned?โ€ Victoria felt deceived by Morty.

Brushing aside Victoriaโ€™s bag with a smirk, Morty casually said, โ€œBecause Easton was the one who was left.โ€

โ€œLeft?โ€ Victoria was stunned, staring at Morty in surprise. โ€œEllis said she initiated the divorce,โ€ Morty explained, himself initially shocked by this and doubting its authenticity, which is why he hadnโ€™t told Victoria earlier.

โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you tell me sooner?โ€ Victoria slammed her hand on the table, visibly angry. โ€œI went to see Easton today, and he snapped at me!โ€

โ€œJust slipped my mind with all the work,โ€ Morty shrugged off. Married under duress and now divorced by Ellis, no wonder Easton was furious. Victoria retrieved her bag. โ€œSo, are Easton and Ellis truly divorced?โ€

Morty picked up on the significance of her emphasis on โ€œtruly.โ€ Just the other day, after hearing from Ellis, he had checked their divorce date and even reviewed surveillance footage of them at the Civil Affairs Department to verify the divorce, which he had yet to share with Victoria.
