Chapter 200: The Fight Between Women
โWhat do you mean?โ Ellis rolled her eyes. โAnd before you call someone a b*tch, maybe take a good look in the mirror. Youโre the shameless mistress, flaunting yourself in front of the wife like you have the moral high ground. Thatโs about as low as it gets.โ
โEaston and I have been engaged since childhood! Weโve loved each other for over ten years! Youโre the one who got involved with our relationship. Youโre the mistress!โ Victoria stamped her foot, the word โmistressโ clearly triggering her.
Ellis scoffed. โYouโve got to be kidding me. Your family was the one that broke off the engagement. Easton and I got together after that. How exactly does that make me the mistress? Donโt give me that โthe unloved one is the mistressโ nonsense. Anyone with a basic education knows that a legally wedded wife holds the rightful title!โ
Marriage didnโt necessarily equate to love. It involved various factors. By all social and legal standards, Ellis had done nothing wrong. Even if Easton had never loved her, even if their marriage was devoid of affection, she had still been his lawfully wedded wife.
Victoria, humiliated and unable to strike Ellis as easily as she had at the beginning, turned her frustration onto Jess. โWhy are you just standing there? Help me beat this b*tch!โ
Jess wasnโt about to get physical. Instead, under Victoriaโs seething glare, she forcibly separated the two and said, โWeโre all civilized people. Thereโs no need to fight like thugs, alright?โ
Once freed from Victoriaโs grip, Ellis took out her phone. She wasnโt about to let Victoria take another swing at her. She held it up as a warning, ready to call the police at a momentโs notice. Then, she pointed to the nearby surveillance camera. โThis area has security cameras. Every move you make is being recorded. Unless you want to take a trip to the police station, youโd better behave yourself.โ
Victoria gritted her teeth, seething with rage but unable to act. Instead, she stomped on Jessโs foot in frustration, all the while glaring at Ellis. โDonโt get cocky. You might have gotten away today, but Iโll make you pay back that slap a hundred times over someday.โ
Ellis gave her a slow once-over, then smirked. โSure, Iโll be waiting. Butโฆโ
Victoria had always been the epitome of a two-faced schemer. In front of Ellis, she was outright hostile. But in front of Easton, she played the perfect, demure, well-educated lady. The contrast was funny, to be honest. How did this woman become Eastonโs first love? Did he have no standards?
โJust now, with the way you attacked me, I think Iโll request the surveillance footage from the property management and send it to Easton. Let him enjoy the show,โ Ellis said with a wicked glint in her eye.
When she slapped Victoria back then, Easton had immediately demanded she apologize. Victoria had played the pitiful damsel so well, crying her eyes out while Easton fussed over her. Ellis was curious. How would he react when he sees the real Victoria?
With todayโs advanced security systems, surveillance footage was solid evidence. The widespread presence of cameras had significantly reduced crime rates and, in a way, even improved human behavior. Stonebridge, being a thriving city, had some of the most sophisticated security measures in place. As soon as Ellis brought up the footage, Victoriaโs expression darkened.
She pointed a trembling finger at Ellis. โEllis, if you dare send that footage, Iโll make sure you regret it. And I wonโt have to lift a finger myself.โ
โOh, stop with the threats,โ Ellis saw right through Victoriaโs words. She was warning Ellis to watch her back, hinting at the possibility of getting someone else to deal with her.
โDonโt forget. Iโm Ellis, Carlyโs adopted daughter. Sheโs Eastonโs aunt.โ
Money aside, Carly did see Ellis as a useful tool. Even if their relationship wasnโt the warmest, there was a bond there. Meanwhile, Victoria wasnโt even officially married into the Hudson family yet. Ellis refused to believe she had the power toโฆ
Victoria burst out laughing mockingly. โYou think Carly would stand up for you? The Hudson family belongs to Easton. If Easton wonโt back you up, do you think Carly would dare?โ
โFunny you should say that. When I slapped you, Easton didnโt exactly jump to your defense either.โ Ellis smirked at her with mockery.
Victoriaโs rage boiled over. She was shaking with fury at this point. Ellisโs words stung more than anything her so-called childhood friends had ever said. Ellis had officially become her sworn enemy.
Who says Easton didnโt stand up for me? He spent millions of dollars to save me. He supports my company. Whatever I want, he gives. Heโs gentle and considerate to me.โ She sneered. โUnlike you. When you were kidnapped, he didnโt even bother paying a cent for your ransom. If you had died that night, he wouldnโt have cared.โ
Victoriaโs smug superiority was baffling to Ellis. She and Easton had long ceased to be husband and wife. The only reason she had moved into this apartment complex was because Easton had disgusted her by sneaking into her bed in the middle of the night.
