Chapter 210: Unwanted Guest
Maya followed closely behind Ellis, both keeping an eye on Easton through the video doorbell screen, watching for any sudden movements and preparing a response plan as quickly as possible. However, Easton didn't move an inch. He stood patiently, as if waiting for something. After checking the door, Ellis wasnโt quite sure how likely it was that Easton wouldnโt find a way to open it.
Seeing Mayaโs tense and serious expression, Ellis patted her elbow and said, โDonโt be so nervous. He probably has nothing better to do in the middle of the night and just wants to come here to do something ridiculous and then leave when he realizes heโs not welcome.โ
โNo, girl! Your ex-husband is acting like a psycho. Arenโt you scared?โ
โWell, he does seem a bit psycho.โ Ellis suddenly felt that the term perfectly described Eastonโs recent behavior and increasingly erratic mental state. โScared? Not really. Just annoyed.โ
Earlier that day, I had been hit by Eastonโs so-called โfirst love.โ There were no visible marks, but my scalp still hurt from the force of Victoriaโs grip. I had been holding back the anger all day. If that scumbag dared to provoke me again, I would make sure to return the pain she had suffered at the hands of Victoria, doubled.
โSo, what should we do?โ Maya asked. Neither of us was physically strong. If Easton really acted like a lunatic, how would we handle it?
โIgnore him,โ Ellis replied without hesitation.
โEastonโฆโ Maya had barely uttered a word when the doorbell rang again. โItโs so loud.โ Letting Easton keep ringing the doorbell was indeed loud.
After a moment of thought, Ellis turned around and went back to her room. Seeing Ellis walk away, Maya followed her. โShould I handle this myself?โ
Ellis dialed a number and said, โNo, Iโll call the property management company to have them evict him. The property fees were so high, they couldnโt just sit around and do nothing. It was time for them to solve the residentsโ problems.โ
Maya was about to agree with Ellisโs plan, but then she thought of something else. Her eyes darted around before she said, โIf property management was useful, Easton wouldnโt have been able to enter the complex at all, let alone come to our floor.โ
โGood point.โ Ellis hung up the phone before the property manager could answer. For a moment, neither of them could think of a better solution, and both frowned in frustration. Was this scumbag a piece of sticky gum? So annoying!
Ellis cursed him in her heart and walked back to the front door. She tapped the screen of the video doorbell a few times. The video doorbell wasnโt just for watching the outside; it also had an intercom function, so she could talk to whoever was outside. She really didnโt want to have to deal with that scumbag, but if he kept ringing the doorbell, it would be no different than a noise attack.
โItโs the middle of the night! Donโt you have anything better to do than come here and act crazy, disturbing peopleโs sleep? Are you out of your mind?โ
When Easton heard the familiar, contemptuous voice of a woman, he noticed the intercom. At that moment, Ellis inside the house was definitely watching him through the screen.
โI saw the video that Maya sent,โ he said, looking directly at the camera as if Ellis were standing right in front of him. The somber expression he had worn earlier at the Sunshine Estates unconsciously softened. โAre you okay?โ
Chapter 210: Unwanted Guest
Every time I encountered this man, my manners seemed to get worse. I'm really afraid that one day I would become a short-tempered, ill-mannered person.
โWhether Iโm okay or not has nothing to do with you. Donโt pretend to care!โ She pursed her lips. โGo take care of Victoria and make sure she doesnโt go crazy like you. And get out of here right now!โ
โYouโre yelling at me with so much energy. It seems like youโre fine.โ
Ellis was speechless.
โIโm leaving. Go back to sleep.โ
In truth, Easton didnโt want to leave just yet. But Ellisโs words made it clear that she wouldnโt open the door for him. Since he couldnโt see her and she had made it clear that he was disturbing her sleep, it would be pointless to stay any longer.
The tall, thin figure on the screen gradually disappeared, and Ellis couldnโt help but raise an eyebrow. She wanted to continue cursing him, but once again, he had come for no reason and left when he realized he wasnโt welcome.
Maya looked surprised. โYour ex-husband acted like a psycho, didnโt he? And he just left like that!โ
โHeโs being completely ridiculous right now?โ Ellis let out a small yawn. โLetโs sleep.โ Now that the scumbag was gone, she still had to work tomorrow. Nothing was more important than getting some sleep.
However, Maya wasnโt as calm as Ellis. She stood in front of the screen for several minutes, making sure that Easton hadnโt reappeared before finally feeling calm enough to go back to bed.
Meanwhile, Easton didnโt immediately head for the main gate of the complex after exiting the elevator. He glanced back, then stared at the dimly lit path in front of him. A strange yet slightly satisfying feeling began to form in his heart. This feeling came from hearing Ellisโs voice. Even though he couldnโt see her, he was aware that she was close by, close enough to see, close enough to touch.
