Tiffany scratched her head, her thoughts a muddle. She couldn't decide whether she was looking forward to the meeting or disappointed. The only certainty was that she didn't dislike it—a somewhat dangerous feeling.
Tiffany took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. The Hampton family's car departed after dropping her off. Shortly after, June drove to the villa entrance. Tiffany got in the car.
June noticed Tiffany's absentmindedness while Tiffany changed clothes. She couldn't help but ask, "Miss Kelley, what's wrong?"
"It's okay," Tiffany replied, collecting her thoughts. Within minutes, her stunning face was concealed, transforming her into the enigmatic Miracle Healer.
The meeting with Mia was at a restaurant. Mia had been waiting for over half an hour by the time Tiffany arrived. Mia, unused to waiting for anyone, felt a surge of anger and impatience. However, remembering her objective, she suppressed her temper.
Seeing Tiffany arrive, Mia was eager to get to the point. But Tiffany glanced at Mia, signaled a waiter, and calmly ordered desserts and juice before leaning back and casually asking, "You can start now."
Mia choked. She felt tricked! Before her sat a seemingly ordinary young woman, respected solely for her Miracle Healer reputation. To an outsider, it would appear Tiffany, the enigmatic healer, was the heiress, while Mia, the daughter of a real estate tycoon, was a subservient maid.
Mia fought to control her anger. She placed her prepared documents on the table, but was momentarily stunned as the restaurant efficiently served an array of exquisite desserts. Tiffany, ignoring Mia's simmering anger, sipped her juice, picked up her cutlery, and began to eat slowly. "Tell me," she said. "I'm listening. But you have to stay away." She clearly didn't want Mia's presence to spoil her dessert.
Mia nearly flipped the table. However, she had promised her father she'd secure the contract. Maintaining composure, she took a step back. "Miss Wood, the gift my family gave you—the diamond mine—was quite generous, wasn't it? Worth 200 million dollars. Unprecedented in Lovell City! I'm here to cooperate. One mountain has already been mined. I wonder if you'd consider returning the other? Of course, I'll compensate you." Mia pushed a check across the table.
Tiffany glanced at it and smirked. It was a check for two million dollars. Calmly poking her dessert, she mocked, "Are you trying to dismiss a beggar? Do I look like I need this paltry sum? What a joke."
Tiffany clicked her tongue and shook her head, her expression conveying her disdain. She started to rise.
Knowing Tiffany's high expectations, Mia anxiously asked, "Then what do you want?"
"At least add a zero," Tiffany said, meaning twenty million dollars.
"That's too much!" Mia exclaimed. "You're exploiting your good deed! Even if you saved my father, it doesn't justify your exorbitant demands!"
Tiffany smiled playfully. "This father-daughter pair must have been laughing when they offered the mountains as a reward and now want it back after discovering a valuable diamond mine," she thought. A faint smile played on her lips as she asked, "You're in such a hurry. You know there's another diamond mine, right? The one currently being mined is worth billions, at least. Why would I give you anything for free? The Lee family has been in business for years. Didn't your father teach you not to make a loss?"
Mia was speechless. The land belonged to Tiffany. Who willingly gives up a lucrative asset? Disappointment washed over her. This deal seemed doomed.
Then Tiffany laughed, "That's why I said, add a zero, and the mountain is yours. Future value is irrelevant to me." It truly was. "Isn't that a fair deal? Think about it." She sipped her juice, waiting for Mia's decision.
Mia's eyes lit up. "True! Even at twenty million, it's a profit if more top-grade diamonds are found!" She confirmed, "You said it. Future value is irrelevant to you!"
"Of course," Tiffany replied.
A preliminary agreement reached, they began drafting the contract. Mia was about to instruct her assistant, but June produced a copy. The same trick again! Mia thought suspiciously. Another trap? "Are you sure there are no problems?"
"Verify it yourself," June said impassively. "And don't waste Miss Wood's time." The Miracle Healer had deigned to meet Mia; Mia should be grateful.
Mia stifled her anger, cursing inwardly. Her assistant checked the contract; it was fine. Relieved, Mia signed. The twenty-million-dollar check was now cashable.
Tiffany and June left immediately. Mia happily prepared to share the good news with Conner.
In the car, June shook her head disdainfully. "Mia is truly stupid."
Tiffany raised an eyebrow, smiling. "Not stupid, exactly. Her intelligence isn't obvious."
June laughed. That was apt. Mia was vigilant, but not clever. Arrogant and self-assured, she was a perfect target.
June had also discovered that Mia and Conner had hired assassins to kill Tiffany. Eliminating such a pair was a small price to pay.
"Miss Kelley," June said, "should I arrange protection?"
"Unnecessary," Tiffany said languidly. "I'd like to see what they can do."
