Listen to this chapter:

Kenneth squeezed into the car. Knowing he was worried about Melody, Tiffany didn't object, except to say, "I'm very grateful for your help tonight. Although you were no help at all, I must still thank you."

Kenneth's eyelids twitched furiously. This was so typical of Tiffany. No one could tell whether she was genuinely grateful or mocking him.

However, knowing her outspoken personality, he knew she wouldn't beat around the bush if she truly wanted to insult him. As he mulled this over, Kenneth felt a little better. "Hang on," he realized with a start, "doesn't that make me a masochist?"

In the past, he would have flipped out. Yet, he was calm and collected; in fact, he was secretly happy about her gratitude. "I must be out of my mind," he chided himself.

Then he heard Tiffany add, "But let me make this clear: I can't be bothered with Melody Princeton. I will only save the person I want to save. So please make your own arrangements, Kenneth."

Tiffany made it perfectly clear she wouldn't risk her life for outsiders, especially Melody, even if their lives were in danger. She gave Kenneth a heads-up, wanting him to be mentally prepared. If anything happened later, he couldn't count on her.

Under normal circumstances, people would probably curse her inwardly for being cold-blooded and heartless, though they might not say it aloud. However, Kenneth knew Tiffany and her way of thinking. He only said, "You're such a vengeful person."

Tiffany raised her eyebrows. "Thank you." She didn't deny it.
