Chapter 320

With a thunderous boom, the entire mountain shook. The huge explosion sent sand, rocks, and soil flying, shattering the trees. Lauren was thrown by the blast and severely injured.

She looked up in shock. The dust from the explosion had settled, revealing a bloody pulp on the ground—all that remained of Jordan, who had been at the center of the blast.

“Jordan, my… my son…” Lauren wailed, staring in disbelief at the remains. Her ears rang. Suddenly, she screamed and ran towards it, distraught. A shrill scream echoed through the valley.

Sandra, hiding behind a rock, instinctively covered her ears. Fortunately, she had run quickly and escaped the explosion. She hadn't anticipated the miniature explosives' terrifying power.

"But it's a pity Tiffany escaped," Sandra thought, pursing her lips in disdain. "I spent so much effort dealing with her. Dying like that is too good for Jordan."

Nearby, Lauren cried, breathless and near collapse, clutching Jordan's remains. The Booth family, having only one son for generations, was now facing extinction.

Overwhelmed with grief, Lauren cried uncontrollably. She didn't notice Sandra sneaking closer, a large rock raised high in her hand, poised to strike.

Not far away, Jeremy, unharmed by the explosion, saw this and was about to intervene. Suddenly, a noise nearby diverted Sandra's attention. Villagers arrived, forcing Sandra to flee and abandon her plan to kill Lauren.

News of the mountain explosion quickly reached Melvor Mountain Village. The villagers believed Lauren was the sole witness and victim. When rescued, her grief had driven her to a state of near-madness, alternating between crying and laughing.

Lauren remained silent about the events on the mountain, even calling everyone she met "son." As a result, the villagers attributed the incident to the mountain blasting.

Jeremy returned to the village chief's home and told Tiffany everything. "I'm sorry. You asked me to follow them and prevent anything from happening to Jordan and his mother. In the end…" Jeremy said remorsefully. This was his first failure to carry out Tiffany's instructions. Tiffany shook her head. "It's not your fault."

No one knew Sandra had planted the bomb.

"What's next? Do we continue to follow her?" Jeremy asked.

"No need," Tiffany replied. "With this incident, the mountain will be sealed off, eliminating the safety hazard. Sandra isn't stupid; she won't stay."

Sandra had nowhere else to go but to Felix's castle.

Jeremy remained silent, awaiting Tiffany's orders.

"You're not making any move for now," Tiffany instructed. "Go and rest."

Tiffany sat at the table, staring at her cup, when suddenly the lights went out. Then, there was noise outside.

Chapter 326

Zoe emerged from her room, phone in hand. "You scared me! Why did the power go out?"

Tiffany joined her, realizing the entire village was plunged into darkness. Moments later, candlelight flickered to life.

The village chief explained, "Remember the mountaintop explosion last night? A small area collapsed, damaging the power lines. Let's pray it doesn't rain; heavy rain easily causes flash flooding."

Their prayers went unanswered. Heavy rain, a storm, lightning, and thunder raged through the night. The wind uprooted trees, leaving the power lines out of service. Worst of all was the flash flood.

The village chief's house was far enough from the mountain to be safe from landslides, but several families at the mountain's base suffered. Their houses were destroyed, and many were trapped while evacuating.

Helicopters rescued the trapped villagers. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The village chief sighed, "We were blessed. Kind people came to our aid. We wouldn't have managed otherwise."

Tiffany, putting on a coat, rushed through the rain to Richard's room. No bodyguard stopped her. Richard, neatly dressed, seemed to have just finished taking medicine. He waved. "Come here."

After a moment of shock, Tiffany responded, "Yes," and approached him.

Richard pulled her close, drying her hair and clothes with a towel. He frowned. "Why didn't you bring an umbrella?"

Tiffany dodged the question. "It's just a few steps. Besides, I stayed dry."

Richard remained silent. Tiffany asked, "Are you… leaving today?" She'd noticed his subordinates packing.

She's so busy; how could he stay? Tiffany mused.

Richard pinched her cheek, chuckling. "Why? Can't bear to part with me?"

Tiffany was caught off guard. That's not it. I just need time to adjust to doing things alone.

Tiffany cleared her throat. "Have a safe trip. See you back in Lovell City."

She was supposed to leave today, but the flood changed her plans. She needed to stay another day to help the villagers if the flood worsened.

Richard rested his chin on her head, stroking her hair. He was affectionate and reluctant to leave.

Chapter 820

A few minutes later, John entered. "Richard, we're good to go."

"Okay," Richard responded indifferently, remaining still.

Tiffany urged him, "Hurry up. I'll be back tomorrow or the day after at the latest. Don't worry."

She met his gaze, deciphering the unreadable emotions in his deep eyes.

"I'll leave some men and a helicopter at your disposal," Richard said.

"Alright," Tiffany nodded.

"Instruct them as needed. Don't put yourself in danger," he added.

"Okay," Tiffany smiled, feeling amused and warm. Anticipating his next words, she asked, "Go ahead, Richard. I'm listening."

He kissed her. "Don't make me miss you too much."
