Chapter 351
Seeing Charlie was silent, Tiffany shook his hand and pleaded, "Dad, is this okay?"
"Okay," Charlie nodded in agreement. "But I'm afraid your mother will object. Leave this to me."
"Okay," Tiffany replied.
"Silly girl," Charlie said, reaching out and wiping away the tears on Tiffany's face. He said in a serious tone, "No matter what happens, I will believe you. So you have to believe that our father-daughter relationship will never change."
"Okay," Tiffany nodded. She had always thought so.
She reflected that she had made a mistake in her previous life and let her family down. Even if she suffered in this life, it could be considered repayment.
"Then I'll be off now," Tiffany said, turning around and calling Sidney as she left the hospital. "Mr. Pauley," she said, "I want to ask you a favor."
She rarely asked for help; this was the first time.
Sidney was surprised by the call. When he heard her request, he was almost shocked. "Don't say that," he exclaimed. "If you need anything, just tell me. I'll definitely do my best to help you!" He worried about the danger if Mr. Hampton learned that the girl he cared most about was humbly begging for his assistance.
Tiffany said, "I want you to examine a patient for me and assess her physical condition. I want to know if her so-called kidney failure is real."
"It's a piece of cake," Sidney replied. "Tell me the time, and I'll be on call."
"Tomorrow, then," Tiffany said.
Sidney checked his schedule. He had an important meeting tomorrow, but he readily agreed, "No problem."
Tiffany thanked him. "Thank you, Mr. Pauley."
"No worries," Sidney said.
The next morning, Sidney arrived at the hospital as promised. Charlie didn't tell Thalia about the re-examination, knowing she would object, being protective of her daughter.
Additionally, Melody had a nightmare the previous night. She cried, saying she dreamed Tiffany wanted to kill her. She was too afraid to fall asleep and cried all night. Thalia spent the night comforting her.
Under these circumstances, how could Charlie dare anger his wife and cause unnecessary arguments? He used the excuse of letting her rest to persuade Thalia to go home.
After confirming Thalia had left, Charlie asked Sidney to re-examine Melody. As the young master of a medical family, this was Sidney's first secret patient examination; he felt quite helpless. All the inspection equipment was ready.
When Melody was taken from the ward, she asked in confusion, "Where are you taking me?" They had acknowledged their father-daughter relationship the day before; it wasn't too much for her to call him Dad.
Charlie replied, "For the sake of your health, of course, you have to have a checkup every day. Besides, the transplant surgery is tomorrow; you can't be careless before the surgery."
Hearing about the checkup, Melody's eyes flashed, but she pretended to be obedient. "Okay."
When Melody was taken into the examination room, no one noticed her secretly swallowing a black pill. It melted instantly.
This thorough examination lasted over an hour. Sidney looked at the results, hesitated for two seconds, and then called Tiffany.
"Tiffany," he said, "the situation is different from what you think."
"Tell me," Tiffany replied.
"The patient you asked me to examine is indeed suffering from kidney failure," Sidney stated.
Tiffany was at Luna Villa when she answered. Hearing this, disbelief filled her. "How is this possible?" She trusted Sidney, which is why she asked for his help. She hadn't expected this outcome. Sidney wouldn't lie to her. Then what was the problem? Regardless of the outcome, Tiffany didn't believe it.
Sidney nodded. "This is the result, but from this medical report, her illness is quite strange."
"How so?" Tiffany asked.
"It's like a sudden relapse, very rapid. Logically, it's impossible for her illness to have such a short relapse time," Sidney frowned. This was unprecedented for him.
"What do you mean?" Tiffany asked.
"I suspect something is wrong, but the examination results are fine, so I can't say for sure," Sidney said.
"I see. Thank you, Mr. Pauley," Tiffany said, hanging up.
Then, she ran upstairs to her room. A few minutes later, her appearance drastically changed, and the refined Miracle Healer reappeared. June was already waiting at the entrance of Luna Villa. Seeing Tiffany emerge, she sped toward the hospital.
At the hospital, Charlie felt helpless and upset upon learning about the medical report. He felt helpless that his long-lost daughter was indeed sick; this was unchangeable. Worst of all, this result directly contradicted Tiffany's claims.
Melody, sent back to the ward, sat up and looked at the frowning Charlie. She softly asked, "Dad, are you worried about my illness?"
"Yeah," Charlie said.
"Don't worry, I'm not afraid," Melody said. "I'm already very satisfied now. It doesn't matter even if I can't be cured."
"What are you talking about?" Charlie peeled an apple for her, carefully cutting it into small pieces before handing it to her. "You'll be fine. You'll definitely recover."
"Thanks, Dad," Melody said, raising her head and smiling at him. She inadvertently revealed a blue bruise on her neck—caused by Tiffany strangling her the previous night. The immense force had damaged her vocal cords, requiring time to heal.
Thalia felt immense guilt each time she saw the terrifying bruise, blaming Tiffany in her heart. But Charlie didn't. Tiffany was also his daughter, and he knew her character best. He would always trust his daughter.
Melody lowered her head and ate the fruit silently. She was satisfied with her current situation, believing this was only the first step in her return to the Kelley family. After the transplant surgery, Charlie would announce her identity. Then, she would be the Kelley family's legitimate daughter. At that thought, she smiled brightly.
A knock came on the ward door. Charlie opened it to find a young, pretty girl in a light blue dress, fair skin, and lively eyes. Stunned, Charlie asked, "And you are?"
