Chapter 489

Tiffany's injury wasn't superficial. Even the old doctor's best efforts wouldn't have changed the outcome. However, to Tiffany's surprise, as soon as she lifted her trousers, the doctor exclaimed, "Were you pricked by a needle? Who could be so cruel? How dare you run around injured like this?"

Tiffany was surprised. "You can tell?"

"Of course! My eyes see many things," the old man chuckled, a deeper meaning underlying his words.

Tiffany didn't dwell on it. He handed her an ointment, saying, "Apply it twice a day. You'll recover in two days, I guarantee it!"

"Thank you, Doctor," Tiffany said, taking the ointment and leaving.

After she left, the old man sighed, then took out a blurry photograph. It showed a little girl, four or five years old at most, whose face was remarkably similar to Tiffany's—almost identical.

Suspended for a week, Tiffany went to Luna Villa. Zoe Stevens wanted to see her, but Tiffany said, "Go to class. Exams are coming. Don't be distracted. I'm fine."

Zoe gritted her teeth and reluctantly agreed. However, after hanging up, she skipped class and went straight to the hospital to find Sidney.

Sidney wasn't always at the hospital, so Zoe's trip was fruitless. At the hospital entrance, she called him.

A surprised voice answered, "Hello? Why are you calling?"

"Where are you? I need to see you!" Zoe stated directly.

Sidney was slightly embarrassed by her bluntness. He half-jokingly, half-seriously asked, "Are you finally going to confess your feelings?"

Zoe was furious and almost hung up. "You narcissist! I have something important to tell you! Where are you?"

"I'll come find you," Sidney said, glancing at the table where his parents and a prospective matchmaker sat, watching him. He stood up and left, ignoring their angry shouts.

Zoe waited over half an hour at a nearby coffee shop. Sidney entered, spotting her leaning against the window, her expression slightly listless but cute from the long wait. He approached from behind, intending to playfully cover her eyes, but Zoe grabbed his hand and bit him.

"Ouch! Let go!" Recognizing his voice, Zoe released him, stunned.

"Why did you bite me?" Sidney asked.

"Who asked you to sneak up on me?" Zoe retorted. "What if it was someone dangerous? Tiffany said if I sense danger, I should strike first!"

Sidney could only give a silent thumbs-up. Their frequent fights and reconciliations had become routine.

Zoe said sternly, "I came to tell you something very important!"

"It's about Tiffany, right?" Sidney asked.

"Right!" Zoe said seriously. "How much do you know about the engagement party? There was a misunderstanding! You only know Tiffany injured Mr. Hampton, but you don't know the sacrifices she made for him." Zoe felt indignant; the misunderstanding shouldn't have happened. She thought, "How did things get this bad? Especially yesterday's vandalism! I never expected Gretel would do that. It's driving me crazy!"

Sidney watched her, her expression fierce. "What do you know? Tell me."

"I don't want to tell you!" Zoe grabbed his hand, pleading, "Take me to see Mr. Hampton. He needs to know some things!"

Sidney was stunned by her warm hand. He was momentarily dazed and agreed without hesitation, "Okay. Let's go to Royal Tower."

Twenty minutes later, they stood beneath Royal Tower. Zoe gaped at the magnificent building. Perhaps accustomed to women feigning nobility, Sidney found Zoe refreshing.

He chuckled. "Let's go."

"Okay!" Zoe followed obediently.

They took the elevator to the top floor. Sidney had free access to Royal Tower and didn't bother notifying anyone, taking Zoe directly to Richard's office.

The office was typically clean and spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a stunning view of Lovell City. Richard sat at his large desk, engaged in a video call.

Seeing Sidney and Zoe, he frowned, ending the call and asking, "What is it?"

"I I have something to tell you!" Zoe, usually bold, felt intimidated by Richard and stuttered.

Sidney chuckled. "Why are you raising your hand?"

"I'm nervous!" Zoe blurted out. She stuttered when nervous, and nervousness made her sweat. Although usually articulate, she was intimidated by people like Richard.

Sidney's smile widened. "Spit it out."

"Yes!" Zoe told Richard everything about the engagement party, including what happened after Tiffany allegedly attacked him.

She explained Tiffany's trip to the Azure Sea Royal Family for medicine, the dangers she faced, her temporary blindness, and her near-death experience to get him medicine.

She finished with a hopeful expression. "Mr. Hampton, Tiffany never betrayed you, never harmed you!"
