Chapter 492

Before this happened, Kenneth regretted his engagement to Melody and proposed a breakup. Melody cried and refused. Then, impulsively, she cried and rushed to visit him, saying she wanted to spend the last ten days with him before their complete separation, after which they would owe each other nothing.

He, compassionate and swayed by her pleas, agreed. However, on the eighth night, Melody left without saying goodbye. He felt relieved at the time and didn't think much of it.

Later, when he heard Tiffany was going to the Azure Sea Royal Family to seek medicine, he accompanied her. Upon their return, the tragedy had already unfolded. Kenneth's expression changed in disbelief.

Before Tiffany raised her suspicions, he hadn't suspected anyone. He only blamed himself for his ignorance, for privately investigating the Treasure Box and causing the tragedy.

But Tiffany's suggestions shocked him; they were precisely what he'd missed.

Kenneth nodded, his hands trembling slightly. "Yes! At that timeMelody stayed at my house for eight days!"

"Melody?" Tiffany was stunned.

She thought, Could there be a connection between Melody and Felix? But that doesn't seem right.

She remembered Melody was also on the assassination list; Felix had sent assassins to eliminate them, resulting in Ged Moody's death.

Tiffany sneered, thinking, "No wonder Melody had Obedience Poison. It seems she and Felix had some connection or deal."

Tiffany said gravely, "Then pull yourself together and investigate this. I've said before that Melody isn't as simple or innocent as she appears."

"I understand," Kenneth said bitterly.

If he hadn't been so self-righteous, mistaking Melody for a savior, he wouldn't have been deceived by her. He blamed himself entirely. He raised his hand and slapped himself hard. Tiffany didn't stop him, only saying, "It's unreasonable to punish yourself like this. Those who were ruthless and inhumane deserve punishment."

Tiffany thought, All humans have flaws. Take Kenneth's investigation of the Treasure Box—is he entirely to blame? Perhaps, but shouldn't Felix and his subordinates bear the brunt of the blame? They caused Ryan's death; they should be punished! And Ged…

Was it wrong to save Zoe? To help Melody? The wrongdoers are never the victims, but the murderers.

Tiffany took a deep breath and stood up. Kenneth followed suit. "Are you leaving? Let me see you off."

"You don't have to."

Chapter 492

"Let's go." The two walked side-by-side, several feet apart.

Kenneth suddenly asked, "How are you and Richard? Have you resolved your misunderstandings? He's always been protective of you, suppressing most of the rumors about you."

"Let's leave it at that…" Tiffany could only reply.

Even if Richard didn't mind her being stabbed, she'd appeared with Felix at the arena yesterday and participated in the gladiatorial competition for him, even leaving with him afterward. Tiffany felt Richard must have heard this, explaining his anger. They'd passed like strangers at school today. No matter what she said, he wouldn't believe her. Tiffany lowered her head, distracted.

Kenneth glanced at her, frowning slightly. He didn't say anything, only offering, "It'll be fine."

They walked to the manor entrance. David waited at the door.

Tiffany said, "Goodbye."

As she was about to enter the car, Alexia appeared, approaching angrily.

Tiffany, expecting trouble, raised an eyebrow.

Kenneth frowned and stepped forward to pull Alexia back. "Alexia, what are you doing?"

Alexia remained unmoved.

After a tense silence, Alexia raised her chin proudly. "Thank you!"

Tiffany thought, Why does that sound so strange?

She laughed. "Don't mention it."

To Tiffany, the willful Alexia was a child. Alexia was underage, and her personality was flawed, but Tiffany didn't mind, so long as Alexia didn't provoke her.

Tiffany got into the car and left.

Watching the car drive away, Alexia stomped her foot, snorting angrily. "Kenneth, look at her! I thanked her. What more does she want?"

"Alexia, in the past, your age excused your behavior. But after everything, you should've matured. You need to control your temper; not everyone will tolerate you. Do you understand?" Kenneth's words reminded Alexia of someone stitching her mouth shut that night.

She'd cried and begged, but to no avail. That cold, heartless man hadn't spared her. Even now, days later, the memory made her tremble.

"I understand, Kenneth," Alexia lowered her head.

She'd tried to forget, but she still couldn't. She'd provoked Tiffany partly because she disliked her; more importantly, she knew Tiffany would never truly harm her, even if she taught her a lesson, she wouldn't be as ruthless as others.

Alexia sniffed, her eyes reddening. "Kenneth, can you give me some time? Don't be angry with me, okay?"

"Why would I be angry with you?" Kenneth sighed.

After the Harper family's ordeal, Kenneth would support the family.
