Chapter 538
The scene was not only familiar but also deeply touching, memorized by heart. Because…
Faith, the youngest daughter of the Ashton family in Traron City, and Gorden, heir to the Azure Sea Royal Family, were an unlikely pair who fell in love. Their joy and companionship were brief; their love ended tragically. All that remained was a sigh and her… memories.
Childhood memories flooded her mind: the gentle woman who always hugged her and smiled, her crescent-shaped eyes as soft as water. Her lullabies were as soothing as a riverboat, gently swaying. These memories felt intensely real, as if relived.
Tiffany gasped, a splitting headache causing her to sway. Fortunately, strong hands caught her. Looking up, she met Richard's worried gaze.
"Not feeling well?" he asked.
Before she could answer, Richard scooped her up.
"I'm fine. Put me down," Tiffany protested.
She struggled, but Richard held her tighter. "I'm your husband. If you're unwell, you don't need to struggle."
Tiffany blushed, murmuring, "You saw the names on the wall, didn't you? I know them… they're my parents."
Though unaware of their past, she never expected to find their inscription in this very cave, after all these years. A sigh escaped her lips.
Burying her head in Richard's chest, she inhaled his faint, minty scent—refreshing and pleasant. She finally relaxed.
Then, a sharp rustling sound pierced the silence. Raising her head, she saw Richard's serious expression, his strong jawline prominent. He held a stone, meticulously carving something into the wall.
Time passed; Tiffany waited patiently. Slowly, the words took shape: Tiffany Kelley, Richard Hampton. The inscription was elegant and powerful, even in stone. She realized Richard had added their names beside those of a couple from twenty years prior.
A twist of fate. They would continue the story, in the very place her parents had pledged their love. She hadn't expected Richard to participate in such a seemingly childish act.
Tiffany's smile was radiant, captivating. Richard was momentarily stunned.
Tiffany playfully blinked. "Honey, don't you think this is childish?"
"No," he replied instantly.
"Why?"
"Because I want to accompany you, doing all the childish and romantic things… many times," he said. "Even a million times wouldn't bore me. As long as you're with me, it's enough."
Overwhelmed by his sweetness, Tiffany blushed, wrapping her arms around his neck. She kissed him, smiling softly. "Okay." She felt the same.
Richard was happy, about to deepen the kiss, when Sidney and Garry's voices interrupted, "Tiffany, are you alright?" Their voices trailed off.
They had followed Tiffany into the cave, worried for her safety after landing their helicopter. Finding the cave, they'd rushed in, panting, only to stumble upon the romantic scene. Awkwardly, they'd become unwitting third wheels.
Garry and Sidney wanted to disappear. Richard's murderous aura had them scrambling for an escape.
"It's dark in here," stammered Garry.
"Yeah, yeah. I didn't see anything," Sidney echoed. "Shall we look elsewhere?"
"Good idea!"
They retreated quickly, desperate to survive.
Tiffany laughed. "Your acting deserves a Best Actor award!"
Seeing Tiffany's smile, Richard's murderous aura dissipated. The group left the cave. Lush vegetation replaced the desert they'd just left; the sandstorm had subsided.
They boarded the helicopter. On the way back, Tiffany yawned, leaning against Richard's shoulder. "By the way," she murmured, closing her eyes, "where did you and Felix go? You disappeared so quickly."
Richard and Felix had tacitly agreed to avoid Tiffany during their fight, fearing an accidental injury. They'd forcibly separated.
The thought darkened Richard's expression. Felix has his eye on my wife. The nerve! he thought.
Receiving no answer, Tiffany gently nudged him. "What's wrong? Can't you tell me?"
"Nothing," Richard said, smiling faintly and covering her with his coat. "It's like before… about my abilities." He referred to Evan's birthday, when he was drugged and still managed to catch her. That was one of his abilities.
Tiffany gasped, astonishment and admiration filling her eyes. "What other secrets do you have?"
Richard chuckled, lightly tapping her nose. "Honey, we're the same."
