Chapter 537
Tiffany sighed in relief and swallowed several pills. Since activating the Treasure Box, recalling five years of memories and inheriting its power, her body's healing abilities had dramatically improved. This injury would heal within a day.
After taking the pills, her breathing stabilized. Under Sidney's incredulous gaze, she stood and said, "Let's go. We're following Richard."
Her subordinates, especially Garry and Sidney, readily agreed. They left the camels behind.
They rested for half an hour before a helicopter arrived. Everyone boarded, flying toward Richard's location, which was oddly erratic. It shifted from east to west in seconds.
"Is the locator broken?" Garry asked, noticing the erratic position changes.
Sidney frowned. "Impossible," he retorted, but the locator jumped again, moving further away. Stunned, he admitted, "Maybe it's broken"
Watching the moving red dot on the helicopter's tracker, Tiffany decisively ordered, "Go in that direction! Hurry!"
The pilot, working at top speed, reached Tiffany's indicated location in only twenty minutes. Sand and stones flew, obscuring visibility in a dust storm, but Tiffany sensed a familiar aura. She knew she was right. She dropped the rope ladder, descending first, followed closely by Sidney and Garry. However, they were too late; Tiffany had already disappeared into a nearby cave.
The cave, beside a cliff, was dark, damp, and eerily silent, save for dripping water.
Tiffany carefully sensed a faint, familiar scent. Hearing approaching footsteps, she drew her switchblade.
"Who's there?" she demanded.
Footsteps drew closer. A familiar voice said, "It's me."
The deep, resonant voice—pleasantly mellow—belonged to Richard. Sheathed her blade, Tiffany ran to him. "Why are you here? I've been looking for you!"
"Why are you injured?" Richard asked, gently touching her face. The explosion had sent her flying, a sharp object cutting her forehead. Though healing, the wound was still fresh.
Tiffany replied casually, "It's a minor injury. But why are you here? Where's Felix?"
"Dead," Richard said, his voice chillingly cold.
Tiffany was stunned, feeling neither happiness nor disappointment, just disbelief. That scourge died so easily? she thought. She hadn't witnessed it, making it seem unreal. Richard, however, interpreted her expression as sadness.
In the next second, her chin was roughly grasped. A voice, like something from hell, whispered in her ear, "Why? Are you unhappy he's dead?"
Tiffany's eyebrows twitched. She instantly swatted away the hand, stabbing with her switchblade. "You're not Richard!"
The real Richard loved, protected, and cherished her, treating her with respect. He would never speak to her like that!
Enraged, Tiffany attacked with deadly precision. The imposter dodged, chuckling, "You found me again."
Again? Then last night's dream was his doing! This man is terrifying—impossible to guard against! she thought, a chill running down her spine as she fought back relentlessly.
How dare he wear Richard's face? But Felix was elusive, his speed and agility preventing Tiffany from landing a blow.
Dodging easily, Felix said meaningfully, "Instead of fighting me, you should see your grandfather. Morwen is about to succeed…"
That last sentence stunned Tiffany. What does he mean? Did Morwen fail to cause trouble, so she went back to the Azure Sea Royal Family to plot against Grandpa to seize power? No wonder I haven't seen her. I thought she'd given up, but there's a sinister plan afoot!
Gritting her teeth, she threw a stone at Felix. "Since you're in cahoots with Morwen, why tell me? Think I can't stop her?"
Felix dodged, the stone hitting the wall. Garry and the others arrived. Felix turned, his eyes like a storm, radiating danger in the dimly lit cave.
"Are you sure I can't stop her?" Tiffany asked.
"I'm afraid you'll be heartbroken after your grandfather's accident," he replied.
Stunned, Tiffany realized the cave entrance was fully illuminated, and Felix had vanished. Garry and his men rushed in.
"Tiffany, are you alright?" Garry asked.
"I'm fine," she responded, searching the cave with mixed feelings. If Felix was here, could Richard be too?
She found Richard before a stone wall, staring at an inscription: "Forever in Faith." The signature listed two names: Faith and Corden Affleck.
Tiffany's heart skipped a beat. Those names… they're so familiar.
