Chapter 587
Kenneth was helpless when Tiffany rejected his offer. He warned, "Tiffany, your actions are risky."
"I've taken risks before," Tiffany smiled. "Besides, I'm not alone."
Tiffany refused Kenneth's help because she didn't want to owe him any more favors. Richard was supporting her, so she felt secure.
She believed Richard would always support her unconditionally. She felt he'd even help her if she started a fire.
Kenneth smiled bitterly. Tiffany had made her feelings clearโshe saw him as a friend, not a lover. He recognized the distance she'd created.
"True," Kenneth said, standing up. He took one last look at Tiffany, then left the studio without looking back.
Downstairs, he encountered Melody, chatting and laughing with a classmate. Melody's eyes lit up when she saw him. She jogged over, smiling brightly. "Kenneth, you're back at school?" She acted as if she'd forgotten the harm she'd inflicted on his family.
Kenneth felt disgust. He saw her beauty as a mask for a vicious heart. He distanced himself, disgust flashing in his eyes. "Whether I attend school is my business. I don't have to report to you."
Melody was stunned, as was her classmate. Everyone knew Kenneth was gentle, considerate, and good-tempered, despite his wealthy background. He was patient and understanding, except for Tiffany, whom he'd rejected previously. Now, he was rejecting Melody.
Melody's classmate protested, "Kenneth, that's going too far. Melody's been worried about you. It wasn't easy for her while you were gone. She asked out of kindness, and you have no reason to be so harsh."
Kenneth sneered. "Thank you for your kindness," he said coldly, walking away.
Kenneth realized his grandfather was right: his soft-heartedness and indecisiveness were his fatal flaws. His kindness had harmed his family. Facing Melody, he felt only disgust.
She's not worthy of my kindness, he thought.
Melody's classmate looked at Melody questioningly. "Melody, what happened between you two? Why did he call off the wedding and treat you like this?"
"I don't know," Melody said, lowering her eyes, concealing her anger. She looked pitiful and aggrieved. "Perhaps he still wants Tiffany."
"What? Tiffany? She's married to Richard! He's still pining for her? What a shameless woman!"
The girl saw Melody's red eyes and sighed, "Melody, I feel for you."
"It doesn't matter," Melody forced a smile. It didn't matter because she planned to replace Tiffany, taking everythingโincluding Richard. You'll see!
Chapter 587 (Continued)
Melody had been thinking. At midnight, she called Lorenzo. "Lorenzo, how's the experiment progressing? Will I have the results tomorrow?"
"Yes," Lorenzo whispered. "Good newsโit's going smoothly. The results should be ready tomorrow. If they're good, we can use it!"
"Great!" Melody's anxiety eased.
Seeing Kenneth at school solidified her resolve to replace Tiffany. Why does everyone adore Tiffany? Charlie, Thalia, even that eight-year-old child! And Richard's love for her is overwhelming. How does she deserve it? And Kenneth, who used to hate her, is still in love with her!
Melody wanted to understand Tiffany's appeal. Once she replaced her, everything would be hers.
That night, Melody slept well, unaware that Luna Villa was bustling. Over ten women waited in the luxurious hall. Some were gamblers, others street girls; some looked menacing.
They'd been waiting for half an hour. "You promised money! I want to gamble!" one shouted. "We've been sitting here, and you only told us to be quiet! Typical rich snob!"
June, who'd been instructed by Tiffany to gather them, shouted, "Quiet!" She didn't know Tiffany's reason, but she obeyed.
"How long must we wait? Tell us why we're here!" the women demanded. "If we wait for nothing, we'll lose out!"
June was about to reprimand them when she heard footsteps. A slender figure descended the staircaseโTiffany. Her beauty and regal air silenced everyone.
