Chapter 591
“This is awesome!” Wilma stared at the woman she was about to swap minds with. The woman was young, beautiful, well-figured, and dressed like a wealthy socialite. Wilma’s excitement bubbled over; she was about to become a rich young lady!
She giggled uncontrollably, nodding wildly, wishing she could shout her joy at finally achieving her childhood dream.
Tiffany gestured for Wilma to enter the pod. “Get in. I wish you could fulfill your lifelong desires.”
“Okay, okay, okay!” Wilma hurriedly lay down.
Meanwhile, June regained consciousness. She nodded respectfully at Tiffany and Richard before leaving.
Tiffany prepared to leave as well, sighing at her missed opportunity to witness Melody’s breakdown upon discovering her body swap. However, Richard stopped her, pulling her back. He pointed to a nearby cabinet. “Since you want to see this, we’ll stay.”
Tiffany was touched. The powerful Richard was willing to hide with her to watch!
She immediately promised, “Thank you. You’ve been so kind. I promise a steamy reward tonight!”
“Will do.” Richard’s lips curled into a smile, his eyes gleaming.
They quickly slipped into the spacious cabinet, normally used for storing experimental materials. Now, it served as their prime viewing spot.
Richard snapped his fingers. Ripples appeared, dust swirled, and numbers on the experimental monitor jumped. The pods closed, and Melody was plunged into darkness.
Lorenzo pressed the start button, appearing calm and oblivious to the change.
Inside the dark pod, Melody felt an intense heat wave. Sweat poured from her brow as if an invisible force attacked her nerves. Her body felt like it was being pierced by needles.
However, Melody persevered. The thought of possessing Tiffany’s life fueled her. The pain was nothing compared to the future she envisioned.
Melody squeezed her eyes shut. Then, a more intense wave of pain struck. She groaned, finally fainting.
After an unknown time, Melody slowly opened her eyes. As the countdown ended, the pod door opened, the outside light blinding. Her vision gradually cleared. She was alive and felt no physical discomfort. “Does this mean the experiment was successful?” she wondered.
Melody looked up, happily asking, “Lorenzo, was the experiment successful?”
As she spoke, she noticed something was wrong. Her voice was rough and unpleasant—neither hers nor Tiffany’s.
Stunned, she subconsciously looked at Lorenzo, seeing his terrified expression. “Lorenzo, did you succeed or not?”
“You… are you supposed to be Melody?” Lorenzo asked, his voice trembling.
Melody felt relief. Lorenzo’s question implied success; she had become Tiffany.
“But if he succeeded, why does he look like that?” she wondered, observing his pale face.
“Lorenzo, what happened? Tell me!” Melody urged, anxious.
“You… you should see for yourself.” Lorenzo handed her a mirror.
Upon seeing her reflection, Melody’s joy froze. It felt like a lightning strike; her head swam, and she nearly fell. “How could this be? Who is this old, ugly woman? How could this happen?”
Hysteria threatened to overwhelm her. Her eyes were bloodshot, the sight of her own ugly face even more repulsive. Lorenzo averted his gaze. “Is there any need to ask? That wrinkled abomination is your new self!”
The truth, though brutally honest, nearly made Melody vomit. “How could this be? How could this be?”
“Stop shouting!” Lorenzo shouted back, his eardrums assaulted by her sharp, hoarse voice. His world had been turned upside down.
Previously, he’d indulged Melody’s unreasonable demands because of her beauty. Now, he felt nauseous, his body rejecting her new appearance.
Melody almost fainted. Her only hope rested with Lorenzo; she couldn't afford to offend him. Softening her voice, she pleaded, “I beg you, Lorenzo. Can you open the other pod and let me see?”
She needed to understand what went wrong, even if it meant facing death with the knowledge of who she’d swapped with. Lorenzo snapped out of his shock and pressed the button.
The other pod slowly opened, revealing Wilma’s beautiful face. Awakening to the light, Wilma saw her own pale, frightened face. “Since when did I have a twin?” she wondered.
Wilma’s stunned silence lasted only two seconds before comprehension dawned. She snatched the mirror from Melody and stared at her reflection. “I… I’m beautiful?” “Did… did I swap bodies with her?”
Before entering the pod, she’d thought it was a daydream. Now, her dream of becoming a beautiful, wealthy woman had come true. “Hahahaha…”
Wilma laughed uproariously, her laughter crisp and unsettling even in Melody’s body and voice. “Hahaha, this is wonderful! I like it! Hahaha, thank God!”
Melody’s face, in contrast, was grim, bordering on murderous. “Who are you? Who the hell are you?”
She lunged at Wilma, wanting to kill the woman she’d swapped bodies with, but hesitated. Damaging Wilma's body would only hurt herself.
Unlike Melody’s hesitation, Wilma didn't hold back. She slapped Melody, saying condescendingly, “You asked who I am? I am Melody!”
After her "interview" last night, June had shared information about Melody. Wilma immediately embraced her new, beautiful life, discarding her old, ugly past.
Melody’s rage exploded. “You ugly bitch! Stop pretending to be me! You’re dreaming!”
Melody tried to strike back, but her new body was weak and bloated. Wilma kicked her to the ground before she could even reach her.
Despair washed over Melody. She didn’t even have time to consider why the kidnapped Tiffany had become so ugly. Nothing seemed abnormal when the pod opened. “What in the hell went wrong?”
Melody didn't care anymore. She crawled to Lorenzo’s feet, tears streaming down her face. “Lorenzo, Lorenzo, please help me. Can you reverse this experiment?”
