Chapter 592

A woman's tears are always a poignant sight, even if beautiful. Melody, however, had become an old hag. Her eyes were wrinkled and sunken, her skin dark and blotchy, her eyebrows sparse, her lips thick, and her nose collapsed. She was simply ugly.

Lorenzo's eyes twitched. Despite knowing Melody's former beauty, the sight of this old woman before him was nauseating. He recoiled when she tugged at his pants, taking two steps back to avoid her pleas.

"Lorenzo, Lorenzo!" she cried. "Please help me! If you help me return to my body, I'll be yours forever!"

Before the experiment, Lorenzo had expressed a desire to sleep with her, a proposition she'd rejected. Now, it was her last resort.

Lorenzo's eyes flashed with temptation, but he sighed. "I want to help, but this module can't be activated frequently, especially so soon after its last use. It needs at least two weeks to recharge."

"Two weeks?" Melody's vision swam, and she nearly fainted. Two weeks was an eternity. So much could happen: Felix could discover the swap, move the machine, or even destroy it. Any of these scenarios meant a life trapped in Wilma's body. She'd rather die.

Melody, however, forgot it wasn't just her wishes that mattered. Wilma, unlike her, was eager to live her dreams, dreams now within reach thanks to her new body. Wilma would never give up this opportunity. While Melody begged Lorenzo, Wilma silently slipped away, guided by June to the basement, remembering the cabin's layout.

Seeing Wilma's escape, Melody gave chase. "Stop!"

June had brought Wilma in without encountering Lorenzo's subordinates. Wilma expected a fight, bracing herself, her heart pounding. Instead, she saw the subordinates pass her by, surrounding Melody.

Stunned, Wilma thought, This isn't what I expected! This is good! She never imagined they would capture Melody.

Excitement filled Wilma's face as she started to leave, but paused at the villa entrance. Lorenzo's subordinates saw 'Melody' as their boss's close companion and wouldn't stop her. However, a sudden, ugly woman chasing her prompted them to intervene.

They restrained Melody, who raged, "I'm Melody! Catch that woman! Don't let her escape!"

Wilma, seeing Melody, flipped her the bird. Melody's fury intensified.

Fortunately, Lorenzo arrived from the basement, ordering, "Let her go!"

His subordinates released Melody, who immediately pursued Wilma. "Stop!"

"In your dreams!" Wilma scoffed, her lighter body easily outpacing Melody.

A Porsche screeched to a halt before Wilma. The driver greeted her respectfully. "Miss, please get in."

"Me?" Wilma was ecstatic, her eyes shining with a newfound will to live. The driver's confirmation sent her happily into the car, admiring its interior.

The driver was bewildered. Only two minutes late, and 'Melody' was completely transformed, smiling instead of raging. Am I dreaming?

Before he could speak, Melody arrived, panting, grabbing his arm. "I'm Melody! I'm your boss! Get that woman out of my car!"

The driver rolled his eyes. "Trying to scam me? Should I call the police?"

Through the car window, Melody saw her own reflection—ugly, bloated, repulsive. This isn't real, she thought. It's a dream. Everything will be fine when I wake up. She clung to that hope until the driver roughly shoved her aside. She fell, scraping her elbow on the asphalt, pain confirming the grim reality.

Watching the Porsche speed away, Melody stood dazed, finally spitting blood before collapsing unconscious.

Tiffany left the cabinet after Lorenzo's departure. Richard's presence ensured no one would disturb them.

She circled the mind-swap machine. "Felix must be incredibly wealthy. This machine must be expensive; even the rich can't always afford it."

Rarity equated to value. Even with flaws, the mind-swap technology's novelty made it priceless.

Tiffany wondered why Felix owned it. His motives were undoubtedly sinister.

Raising an eyebrow, she turned to Richard, smiling. "Since we're here, why don't we leave a little 'gift'?"

Richard understood instantly, a loving smile gracing his lips. "Excellent idea, my dear."
