Richard asked, "Really?" He paused from signing a contract, a hint of suppressed joy in his voice as he said, "Does that mean Evan has a chance of recovery?"
Evan, ten years old this year, was Richard's nephew, the child of his deceased sister. After his sister's death, Evan had suffered a head injury, leaving him in a vegetative state. Even Sidney, a skilled doctor, couldn't help him; only the legendary Miracle Healer offered a glimmer of hope.
Richard put down his pen. His handsome, domineering face remained cold as he ordered, "Invite the Miracle Healer and let them state their conditions." He was prepared to agree to anything.
Sidney replied, "Alright!" and immediately contacted the Miracle Healer. June, remarkably efficient, had spread news of the Healer's return in a single day, showcasing hidden talents and connections even Tiffany didn't know about. June confessed, "James instructed me to pave a path for you. You can do whatever you want; I will always be loyal." Tiffany, trusting June implicitly, didn't inquire further. She calmly reviewed the list of patients, surprised to see the Hampton family listed. "Who from the Hampton family is seeking our help?" she asked.
"Richard Hampton," June replied.
"I'll take his case," Tiffany said swiftly.
June relayed the message to Sidney, who was surprised by the Healer's ready agreement. The Healer's request, however, wasn't for money or fame; they wanted a future favor, payable at any time.
Sidney complained, "That's even more demanding than fame and wealth! What if they see you're an extraordinarily handsome man and demand a woman's hand in marriage? Won't you have to agree?"
Richard's mouth twitched at Sidney's nonsense. "Can't you just hope for the best?" he retorted.
Sidney teased, "Mr. Hampton is so extraordinarily handsome, he causes waves of screams wherever he goes. If I were a woman, I'd definitely get my hands on you."
Richard's face darkened. "Get lost," he ordered disdainfully.
Sidney laughed, then, after a thoughtful pause, said seriously, "I'm not joking! If the Miracle Healer has a daughter who wants to marry you, could you refuse? What about that girl from the Kelley family then?"
"Your imagination won't happen," Richard stated firmly. "Besides, we haven't verified if the Miracle Healer can save Evan. If they can't, they have no right to negotiate with me."
Sidney, with a mischievous grin, winked. "Then, are you really interested in Tiffany? But she's engaged to Kenneth Harper."
Sidney expected Richard to ignore him, but Richard replied coldly, "So what?" A chill emanated from him as he recalled the affectionate love letters from Romeo's birthday party and the irritating Harper family.
Sidney was taken aback. Patting Richard's shoulder, he encouraged, "Play your cards right, and you can get any girl you want. Best of luck!"
"Get lost," Richard commanded.
"Sure thing!" Sidney replied cheerfully, promptly leaving Richard's office.
The next day, Tiffany sunbathed in the cottage courtyard, concealing her school suspension from her family. She had spent the night organizing James's belongings and donned a disguise. June arrived to find a seemingly unattractive young woman. Despite the disguise, Tiffany's beauty was still evident, though cleverly concealed.
"The car is here," June announced.
Six luxury cars, accompanied by numerous bodyguards, arrived, kicking up dust. Sidney waited patiently outside, expecting a power play from the Miracle Healer. To his astonishment, within three minutes, a young girl in a blue dress emerged.
Sidney's internal exclamation, "F**! Did I really jinx it? Is this the Healer's daughter?" reflected his shock. June then appeared, revealing the girl as the Miracle Healer.
Sidney was utterly dumbfounded. The elusive Healer was a young girl? Tiffany, amused by his expression, innocently asked, "What kind of expression is that, Mr. Pauley?"
Sidney, initially suspecting a trick, realized the unlikelihood. He knew June, the Healer's assistant; the girl's identity seemed genuine. Relieved, he apologized profusely for his surprise, complimenting her beauty.
Tiffany accepted his apology graciously. They entered the car and journeyed to Richard's mountaintop villa, a breathtaking spectacle of luxury overlooking Lovell City, complete with private jets.
Tiffany and June, though initially stunned, quickly composed themselves. Sidney approved of their composure. Inside the villa, they encountered bowing servants. Richard, casually dressed in a rolled-up shirt, awaited them, his piercing gaze unfathomable. He turned, his expression indifferent yet incredibly charming.
(The passage then repeats the opening scene with Richard and Evan. This repetition has been removed from this edited version.) The passage ends with the description of Richard's impressive villa.
