Chapter 680

Tiffany moved swiftly through the darkness, pressing herself against the wall and carefully listening. Avoiding all surveillance cameras, she climbed to the second floor of Felix’s heavily guarded villa. Guards patrolled the hallways at regular intervals.

Using diversion tactics and careful maneuvers, Tiffany evaded a patrol and reached Felix’s bedroom door. Footsteps echoed from around the corner—another patrol approaching. She quietly turned the doorknob and slipped inside.

Her actions were risky, but she had no choice. She needed to discover if a shadowy figure was connected to Felix, and if Felix was involved in Richard’s disappearance. The door closed softly behind her, the footsteps passing without incident. Relieved, Tiffany exhaled.

But the room suddenly flooded with light, forcing her to squint. Her heart sank. Instinctively assuming a defensive stance, she scanned the room. Felix stood by the bed, his gaze fixed on her, as if expecting her arrival. Tiffany’s heart skipped a beat. She had infiltrated his stronghold with utmost secrecy, yet he had found her. Escaping unscathed would not be easy.

Gripping her weapon tightly, Tiffany stared warily at Felix. An eerie silence hung heavy in the air. After tense moments, Felix moved deliberately toward her. Tiffany furrowed her brow, raising her blade. “Stop right there,” she commanded. But Felix continued his steady approach. The bedroom was spacious, but the distance between them quickly shrank. A fight was unavoidable. Tiffany’s face hardened as she prepared to strike.

But as she lunged, something was off. His gaze was unfocused, his movements slow, as if he were sleepwalking. Tiffany halted abruptly and stepped aside. Felix, seemingly oblivious, continued toward the door, bumping into it before stumbling toward the window, wandering like a restless spirit.

Chapter 680 (Continued)

Tiffany was stunned. Felix, the cold, ruthless man, had a sleepwalking condition. She saw this as the perfect opportunity. Her resolve hardened. Without hesitation, she moved toward Felix, her blade aimed at his back. Two more steps, and she could kill him.

Tiffany raised her hand, her expression icy, and thrust the blade forward. However, Felix collided with furniture, turning around. The blade missed his heart, grazing his arm instead. It was a misstep. Not only had she failed to kill him, but she had also roused him from his sleep.

Tiffany retreated, her eyes locked on Felix, who stood motionless, blood seeping through his robe. But he wasn't waking from his sleepwalk; he was crying. The cold-blooded, ruthless, and utterly self-serving man was crying.

Tiffany was shocked. Disbelief was her first thought. She considered it a ploy to mock her. Yet, the tears mingling with his blood were real. His eyes, devoid of focus, were filled with sorrow. In the grip of some unseen nightmare, he trembled, pleading with a desperation that pierced the air.

“Don’t go… don’t leave…” His voice cracked, raw with anguish, as he reached out, grasping at nothingness. “Please… don’t leave me…” he begged hoarsely.

Tiffany watched coldly, unmoved. In her childhood memories, she had saved Felix's life. She knew his background: an illegitimate child, shunned and humiliated. She'd encountered him on a snowy day; his mother had been beaten to death while protecting him. Tiffany, passing by, had been haunted by the emptiness in his eyes and, on impulse, offered him her hand. Now, the person she once saved was someone she was determined to eliminate.

Gripping her blade, Tiffany steeled herself to strike again. But a sharp knock sounded at the door, followed by a voice: “Mr. Quaid, something has happened!” Felix’s vacant expression faded. Tiffany cursed silently; he was waking up.

Unwilling to leave empty-handed, she scanned the room and quickly slipped into a large storage chest. Moments later, Felix groggily regained his senses.

Chapter 680 (Continued)

As always after an episode of sleepwalking, he had no memory of what occurred. Noticing the fresh cut on his arm, he frowned but dismissed it as unimportant. The knocking persisted. Finally, he responded, “Come in.”

The door swung open, revealing a bald man with a slightly pointed skull. He was a subordinate promoted after Lorenzo. Unlike Lorenzo’s recklessness, this man, Felix’s trusted confidant, was disciplined and always reported honestly. Felix was satisfied with this.

Felix said, “Speak. What’s the issue?”

The bald man reported, “Mr. Quaid, the person we captured yesterday has escaped!”

“What?” Felix’s expression darkened. He questioned coldly, “How did this happen? Useless fools!”

The bald subordinate shrank under the scolding. Felix lashed out, kicking him. “Why are you standing here? Go after them!”

“Yes!” the bald man responded.

Distrustful, Felix changed out of his blood-stained robe and left the villa in a hurry, trailed by guards. Only a few remained.

Tiffany listened intently as the sound of cars faded. Once the house was silent, she cautiously emerged from the chest. She wondered if the escaped prisoner was Richard, but quickly dismissed the thought. Richard's skills far surpassed Felix's. However, the possibility gnawed at her.

Gritting her teeth, Tiffany climbed out the window. Under the cover of night, she vanished into the darkness, unseen by the remaining guards.
