Chapter 681
Felix’s isolated villa was surrounded by mountains and forests. Winter had arrived, turning the wild grass a dull yellow. A few roadside maple trees shed their red leaves in the wind.
The car that had sped away hadn't gone far. Tiffany perched in a maple tree, observing from a distance. She saw the bald man who’d knocked earlier, scanning the area with a device—a tracker. The target hadn't escaped.
Once the bald man locked onto the signal, he rushed toward Felix’s car, shouting, “Mr. Quaid, he’s headed into the mountains! Our car can’t get through, but don’t worry, I’ll catch him!”
“Go ahead,” Felix replied coldly from the back seat, remaining seated.
The bald man led a group of twenty men in pursuit. Tiffany sneered, then moved to another path.
In the back seat, Felix sensed something. He glanced at the distant trees, faintly swaying. Nothing seemed unusual, only the rustling grass. He frowned, uneasy, and finally got out to follow.
Using her agility and power, Tiffany swiftly flew to the valley, arriving before the bald man and his men. She found no one, but detected a faint scent of blood, leading her to a thorny thicket.
Under the moonlight, mist shrouded everything. Tiffany moved cautiously, silently. She wasn't sure if the person ahead was Richard.
Suddenly, a twig snapped behind her. Before she could react, a killing intent surged. She instinctively dodged and delivered a swift kick.
Her attacker, caught off guard, flew back, blood dripping from his mouth. Tiffany gasped, “Kenneth? What are you doing here?”
Recognizing her voice, Kenneth looked up, stunned. “Run! Go!”
Footsteps approached. “The signal’s ahead! He couldn’t have gone far! Let’s go!” the bald man yelled, leading his men closer. Tiffany grabbed Kenneth. “We need to get out of here, now!”
“We can’t escape,” Kenneth said, a bitter smile revealing a silver bracelet—a tracking device. “I can’t drag you down. You need to go.”
Tiffany raised an eyebrow dismissively. “It’s just a tracker—”
“It’s not that simple…” Kenneth began, but suddenly felt himself lifted. He stared down in shock. “What… you…” The shock was overwhelming; he could barely speak.
Tiffany glanced at him. “Are you going to grab me or not?”
Kenneth, recovering, quickly grabbed her hand.
The bald man and his men arrived to find the spot empty. Stunned, he checked the tracker, confused by the rapidly moving red dot—almost faster than a car. They couldn't catch up.
“Should we continue the pursuit?” asked a subordinate.
“How?! Idiot!” The bald man stamped his foot. The terrain was impossible to navigate by car. He couldn’t believe Kenneth had escaped.
Frantic, the bald man clutched his head, then heard Felix. “Where is he?”
“Mr… Mr. Quaid,” the bald man stammered, “Something’s wrong with the tracker.”
“What?” Felix’s gaze was calm, but his eyes held a chilling fear.
“It’s not my fault! It’s broken!” the bald man said helplessly, handing over the tracker. Felix saw the rapidly moving red dot, which quickly transformed into the word, “Trash.” The writing was shaky, but legible.
The bald man sputtered, “What the hell? Is this a challenge?” He was stunned and enraged.
Felix slapped the tracker back into the bald man’s face. Someone had escaped and left a mocking taunt—a clear provocation. He wondered who it was.
Tiffany, hands on hips, looked clearly satisfied. Kenneth chuckled at her proud expression, almost as if she were saying, “Look at me, I’m a genius!” He found her lively and cunning demeanor charming.
“Alright,” she said, “tell me. Why did Felix kidnap you?”
Chapter 681
Tiffany landed with Kenneth, far from Felix. They were nearing the city, so she couldn't fly openly without causing a commotion.
Kenneth explained, “I don’t know why Felix kidnapped me.” They had a history: Felix had raided the Harper family mansion, stealing the Treasure Box and killing Kenneth's father, Ryan. The enmity was deep, but Kenneth lacked the power to act. Last night, Felix’s men ambushed him on his way home. Even skilled, he was outnumbered.
“So why kidnap you?” Tiffany asked. “What was he planning?”
Kenneth hesitated. “I guess… to experiment on me.”
Tiffany frowned. “Experiment?”
“Yes,” Kenneth nodded. “They took my blood, researching all night. I overheard them talking about an ‘experiment chamber’ while pretending to sleep.”
Tiffany understood. Felix’s previous chamber had been destroyed, but he’d obtained another or repaired the original. He’d used Kenneth for some unknown purpose. She was unsure why Felix wanted Kenneth’s body.
