Chapter 128

“Nonsense! How dare you slander Patrick with your sterility?” Cynthia snatched an ashtray to hurt Amelia, but she was intimidated by Brooke’s warning.

“Patrick poisoned me, so I can’t bear children anymore,” Amelia explained.

Cynthia snapped, “Impossible! Patrick is a good boy, and he won’t do such a terrible thing.”

“Why don’t you ask him yourself?” Amelia advised. She was anxious to alarm Cynthia of Patrick’s disappearance.

Cynthia became evasive. “It is pointless. I know my son well.”

“Do you?” Amelia chuckled. How close Cynthia and Patrick were! She didn’t know that he had been missing for days.

Suddenly, Cynthia had a bad feeling. Did something bad happen to Patrick?

“Amelia, you can’t slander Patrick even if you are Landon’s wife,” Donna criticized Amelia with a long face.

“On my life, I didn’t lie,” Amelia vowed.

Donna’s face darkened. “Is Patrick really the reason for Amelia’s sterility? Screw him! He should know where to stop,” Donna thought indignantly.

“Gloria took me to see a lot of doctors recently. Both she and I are in distress. We didn’t know how to break the sad news to you, Donna,” Amelia sighed with sadness all over her face.

Donna’s expression became complex. “It is probably true since Gloria sides with her. Alas, she was poisoned by Patrick. I can’t kick her away now,” Donna thought.

“Any hope for a full recovery?” Donna asked hesitantly.

Amelia shook her head sadly. “We haven’t found the right doctor yet.”

“Don’t give up. There must be a way out, given the advanced technology nowadays. Patrick is a good boy, so there must be a misunderstanding. Let’s talk things over after Patrick comes home,” Donna said.

Deep down, she planned to kick Amelia away later if Amelia couldn’t be cured. For the time being, her priority was Patrick’s safety.

“I won’t. You have my word.” Amelia personally made a glass of orange juice for Donna.

Donna took the juice, sipped it, and began a small talk with Amelia. Out of the corner of her eye, she observed Cynthia.

Cynthia tried to reach Patrick with her back to Amelia and Donna, but he didn’t answer her calls or respond to her messages.

A wave of panic washed over her. She rang Henry and asked, “Have you ever seen Patrick? I can’t reach him.”

“Isn’t it common? He must be fooling around with his friends.” Henry impatiently hung up the phone because he was having sex with Elizabeth.

Restless, Cynthia called Patrick’s friends, including Jonas, and they replied that they couldn’t reach Patrick in the past few days.

She was finally convinced that Patrick was in trouble. “Donna, Patrick has disappeared,” she shouted in horror.

Donna asked with a frown, “What happened?”

“I don’t know…” With a jerk, Cynthia shifted her gaze to Amelia. “It is you! You hid Patrick, didn’t you?”

“Cynthia, why should I do that?” Amelia shot back.

“You…” Cynthia’s voice trailed off. “Patrick hurt Amelia, so Landon got back at him,” Cynthia thought, but she couldn’t speak her mind. Amelia became sterile, and Landon might kill Patrick for that.

“Donna…” Cynthia quickly turned to Donna for help.

Elderly, Donna had seen the world. She asked, “Amelia, do you know where Patrick is?”

“I don’t.” Amelia shook her head while she added, “I dare you to ask Landon the same question.”

With a worried look, Donna said, “Amelia, we are family. Just tell us what you know. Patrick is my eldest grandson, so I won’t let anyone hurt him.” She was partial to Patrick.

“I’m sorry, Donna. I don’t know where he is,” Amelia responded.

“Donna, Patrick must be in their hands…” Cynthia pleaded desperately.

Donna rolled her eyes at Cynthia and thought, “Don’t jump to conclusions like that? Give me the evidence!” After a moment of silence, she said, “Let’s go home.”

“Patrick…” Cynthia argued.

“He won’t die that easily!”

“Donna, he is your favorite grandson…” Cynthia pleaded on her knees, and her voice choked with tears.

It was true that Patrick was Donna’s favorite grandson. Now that he was detained by Landon, Donna couldn’t get him back. She decided to plead with Landon later.

After one deep glance at Amelia, she said meaningfully, “He will come home as long as he is still alive. Why are you shouting? Nobody has the guts to hurt my dear grandson.”

“Donna, he must be suffering!” Cynthia said.

“Not a bad lesson for him.”

“But…”

“Go home!” Donna ordered.

Submissive, Cynthia shot Amelia a venomous glare before she reluctantly helped Donna away.

Amelia was glad that Cynthia would be distracted by the search for Patrick and couldn’t cause trouble for her within a short time.

Then, it pained her to think of her sterility. Could Landon’s love last forever without prejudice?

After the meeting, Landon heard from his secretary about Donna’s visit. He hurried into Amelia’s office while calling, “Honey…”

“Yes?” Sitting behind the desk, Amelia raised her head and looked calm.

After a sigh of relief, Landon asked, “Did Grandma come?”

Amelia gave a sly smile. “Yes, she came for my sterility. I gave them a task.”

Landon asked, “What is it?”

“To look for Patrick!”

“Well done!” Landon laughed loudly. He sincerely wished Amelia to confront each troublemaker with such calmness.

Amelia looked at Landon and was moved. His attitude was the source of her confidence.

“Donna, won’t you help us?” On the way home, Cynthia shed tears in the car.

Donna snapped, “If I don’t, can you live in a big house? Get dividends from the Kingsley Group?”

“Patrick…”

“Look for him, and we will find him anyway.”

“What if we can’t?”

“Relax.” Donna sneered. “Amelia can’t bear children. She must be under more pressure than we are.”

“So…”

“Idiot!” Donna spat. “Won’t Patrick be brought home if we send word that we know how to cure Amelia?”

After a brief excitement, Cynthia asked with worry, “How?”

“With a lie.”
