Chapter 198
The villa behind her was aglow with light, looking especially inviting against the night. But to her, this beautiful estate felt more like a cage. A gentle breeze swept by, teasing the hem of her dress. Paloma stooped to gather a few tulips and returned to her “cage.”
Amelia was still giving Aiden the cold shoulder, and Paloma couldn’t help but smile quietly to herself. Amelia might look delicate, but she was actually pretty sharp. She knew exactly how to use her feelings to keep Aiden on his toes.
“Aiden, don’t worry,” Paloma said as she placed the tulips in a vase. “Let Ms. Edwards stay with me tonight. You can head back.”
“But…” Aiden hesitated.
He was worried Amelia might start talking nonsense and didn’t want to give them a chance to be alone together, but her current condition made him deeply afraid. Just as he was caught in a dilemma, Landen piped up, “Uncle, I want to sleep with Ms. Edwards too.”
“It’s okay,” Aiden finally agreed.
With Landen playing third wheel, he wasn’t worried about Amelia running her mouth. “Amelia, I’ll come check on you in the morning,” Aiden said, shooting her a warning look before leaving.
Amelia snorted, “Don’t worry, I know how to behave.”
“Okay.”
Once Aiden left, Landen crawled up to the sofa and asked, “Ms. Edwards, do you have a baby in your tummy?”
“Yes.”
“Is it a boy or a girl?” Landen asked.
“I don’t know yet.”
Amelia reached out and gently ruffled Landen’s hair. He’s Landon’s nephew, so he’s hers too. One day, she would bring all of them back to Norava.
“Wow, Ms. Edwards, your necklace is so pretty,” Landen said, reaching out as if he wanted to play with it.
Amelia was startled and quickly stopped him. “This isn’t something you can play with, sweetie.”
“Oh…” Landen pouted, clearly disappointed.
Amelia sat up and said, “This is a token of love between me and my husband.”

“Really?” Landen asked, not quite understanding but trying to. Fortunately, he was well-mannered and didn’t insist after being refused.
Amelia let out a sigh of relief, glanced up at Paloma, and apologized, “Sorry Paloma, this really isn’t something for kids to play with…”
“It’s fine,” Paloma said, shaking her head. “Do you want to go to bed now?”
“Not really,” Amelia replied.
“How about we watch some TV together?” Paloma suggested.
“Okay.”
Paloma turned on the TV and put on a cartoon, and the three of them watched together. Landen was just a child, so his eager fascination was understandable, but even Paloma was watching with great interest.
Amelia couldn’t help but feel speechless. ‘Kayla, what on earth have you been through? And what’s going on in your mind these days?’ she wondered.
After the show ended, the three of them went to bed, hardly saying a word to each other.
Back at the other villa, Aiden finally relaxed. “She’s finally showing some sense.”
In Norava, as soon as Daniel got off the plane, he tried calling Amelia–but the call wouldn’t go through. All he got was a message from Aiden: [Signal’s bad at my place. Just reach out if you need anything.]
Daniel was so mad that he nearly smashed his phone. Aiden probably figured Daniel might overreact and do something crazy to protect Amelia, so he sent over a photo of himself having dinner with Paloma.
“Amelia looks like she’s doing okay. You really don’t need to worry so much,” Edith said softly. Amelia was seriously impressive–she could keep her cool even when walking right into the lion’s den. If it were Edith in her place, she would’ve been a nervous wreck by now.
“She learned how to handle pressure growing up in the Edwards family,” Daniel sighed. “Edith, you really should go back to the capital…”
“I want to stay with you. I can protect you,” Edith insisted, never forgetting she was a member of the Kington Gang.
Daniel couldn’t help but laugh.
“Don’t laugh at me. I know I’m not much help, and I can’t really do anything for you guys,” Edith said, feeling a little embarrassed. “Honestly, I’m really sorry…”
Daniel reached out and gently ruffled her hair. “Stop apologizing. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
The sudden head pat made Edith blush bright red, and she lowered her head in shy embarrassment.
Daniel paused, a little embarrassed, and pulled his hand back. “You should go back to the Kingsley family and keep Mrs. Kingsley company. I’ll go talk to Patrick and see what’s really going on.”
“Alright,”

Edith nodded and got into a cab, with Daniel sending two bodyguards to go with her.
After that, he was left completely alone. Everyone from the Zuckerberg family had hoarded the plane under Aiden’s watchful eye, traded in Borwa, and then immediately flew back.
The new battlefield was in Dreicean.
No matter what happened with Landon, Daniel knew it was his duty to bring Amelia home. If possible, he wanted to bring Paloma back too.
Daniel took a cab straight to Kingsley Manor.
Patrick was sitting in his wheelchair, his face blank as he watched Camila playing with her son. Fraser had just finished his first round of treatment and was back at the Kingsley family home. But the once chubby little boy had lost a lot of weight, and Donna felt so bad for him that she was taking care of him herself. Henry and Cynthia had also come to terms with the awkward truth about their grandson, and they doted on Fraser.
But Patrick wasn’t happy at all. To him, it had just been a fling with his cousin–he never intended to actually live with Camila. And as for Fraser, he wanted nothing to do with him.
But now, he was stuck in a wheelchair… If he refused to accept Fraser, then he’d have no son at all.
“Patrick, you should go to the hospital tomorrow and have some blood drawn. We need to get ready for Fraser’s next round of treatment,” Cynthia said. Patrick’s hand and foot tendons had been cut and then reattached, so there was no way he’d ever be back to normal. Not to mention his weird way of walking, even holding a spoon was a struggle for him now.
All of this was Landon’s doing.
But at least Patrick had managed to get his revenge. Landon was dead and never came back. Now that Amelia and her unborn child were gone too, the entire Kingsley family was under Henry’s control.
“Dad, Mom, let’s put the blood draw on hold for now. I’ve got a ton of urgent matters to deal with first,” Patrick said, his tone cold and sinister, like a snake slithering through the dark.
Camila’s face went pale, but before she could explode, Cynthia cut in sharply, “What on earth could be more important than Fraser?”
“Mom…” Patrick tried to protest.
“The Kingsley Group is already in our hands. What could possibly top that?” Cynthia didn’t even give Patrick a chance to speak. The main heir was ruined, and the alternate one was in prison. Now the only hope for the first branch’s rise rested on the grandson.
“Patrick, listen to your mother. Take care of the kid first. Everything else can wait,” Henry said.
Patrick remembered what Landon had said before he went overboard: ‘You people from the main branch are born cold! If you go back like this, nothing good will come of it!’
Chapter 198
Every word had come true. After Patrick came back, his parents and Donna had shed plenty of tears for him, but now all that was left was their disdain. They all resented him for being crippled.
‘So cold-hearted…’ Patrick thought, bitterness welling up inside. Landon had been bedridden for three months, but his aunt never once gave up on him. Amelia had even married him of her own free will, pitching in to run the company and protect its reputation.
‘So why is it that everything changes when it comes to the main branch?’ Patrick thought bitterly.
“By the way, now that you’re about to take over the Kingsley Group, is there any way you can get your brother out of prison?” Donna asked.
Patrick felt even more bitter and snapped, “No!”
The room instantly went quiet. Everyone turned to stare at Patrick.
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm. “The law isn’t something you can just buy your way out of. Let Kenneth serve his sentence and get reformed. It’ll save everyone a lot of trouble.”
“Right now, Fraser’s treatment is the top priority,” Camila said, shooting Cynthia a look.
Cynthia caught on and smiled. “Patrick’s right. Kenneth just needs to do his time and learn to behave.”
Only then did Patrick feel a little better.
Just then, the butler came in and announced, “Mr. Kingsley, there’s a Mr. Zuckerberg here to see you.”
“Mr. Zuckerberg? He finally showed up,” Patrick said, a wicked, bloodthirsty grin curling on his lips. “Let him in.”
