Chapter 199

Under the dazzling crystal chandelier, Daniel stood tall and imposing, looking down condescendingly at Patrick, who was sitting in a wheelchair. He couldn’t help but feel a bit pleased at Patrick’s misfortune. Henry had once schemed against Landon, leaving him in a vegetative state for three months and then stuck in a wheelchair for ages. Amelia once said Patrick had even bullied Landon more than once because of his mobility issues. Now, karma had come around, and Patrick was the one stuck in a wheelchair. His hand and foot tendons had both been severed and reattached, and Patrick would never recover for the rest of his life.

“If you want to laugh, just laugh. I know you’re with Landon,” Patrick said, his eyes flashing with a venomous glare that could send chills down anyone’s spine.

Daniel’s lips curled into a smirk, and he laughed without holding back. Patrick fell silent.

“Mr. Zuckerberg, now that you’re done laughing, let me hit you with some bad news. Your brother-in-law, Landon, isn’t coming back,” Patrick said coldly.

“As long as he’s still breathing, he’ll make it back,” Daniel shot back, dropping onto the sofa and propping one leg over the other in a way that screamed confidence.

That move used to be Patrick’s trademark. But now, it was something he’d never be able to pull off again.

“You’re way too optimistic, Mr. Zuckerberg. Landon’s dead! He’s gone! He fell into the ocean and got eaten by fish!” Patrick shouted, his voice getting louder with every word.

Daniel’s pupils shrank. “He fell into the ocean?”

The Kingsley Group’s Ausposh branch was nowhere near the sea.

“You’re confused, aren’t you?” Patrick grinned smugly. “Let me make it clear for you–it was the Pacific Ocean!”

Daniel demanded sharply, “Why was he in the Pacific Ocean?”

“Of course, it was for me!” Patrick looked even more smug. “He thought he was coming to save me, but really, I used myself as bait to set him up…” Patrick burst out laughing.

His unrestrained laughter echoed through the living room, filled with vengeful glee. The sound stabbed at Daniel’s eardrums. He clenched his fists, wishing he could strangle Patrick right then and there.

“You want to kill me, don’t you? Then go ahead, if you’ve got the guts!” Patrick had barely finished speaking when several well-trained bodyguards burst in… They all looked tough as nails. Since when did the main branch of the Kingsley family start keeping so many bodyguards?

Daniel gave the bodyguards a quick once-over, then suddenly went straight for one of them.

“Mr. Zuckerberg, you’ve got some guts,” Patrick sneered. These were top-tier fighters the Kington Gang had assigned to him–Daniel didn’t stand a chance against them. Still, getting to watch the head of the Zuckerberg family from Lunova get his teeth knocked out all over the floor was a rare delight. Patrick lit a cigarette with his awkward, unsteady hand and took a slow, leisurely drag.

Meanwhile, Daniel was done on his end. He’d already knocked the bodyguard to the floor and wasn’t looking for a fight. Loosening his tie with a casual air, he said, “They’re with the Kington Gang.”

Patrick looked surprised. “You know about the Kington Gang?”

“I knew about them before you did,” Daniel shot back with a cold smirk.

Patrick had been rescued by the Kington Gang, which meant there was no doubt Landon had been taken by them as well. But who exactly was Aiden?

“Mr. Zuckerberg, since you already know about the Kington Gang, why don’t you just head back to Lunova and stop meddling in the Kingsley family’s business?” Patrick said.

“The Kingsley family? You’re nothing but a joke!” Daniel shot back, his usual composure cracking as he spat out the insult.

“Your sister’s pregnant,” Daniel said, his voice steady but firm. “Even if Landon doesn’t make it back, you won’t inherit the Kingsley family!”

“Your sister?” Patrick’s eyes widened in shock. “You mean Amelia?”

“That’s right,” Daniel confirmed.

“She’s your sister?” Patrick repeated, still trying to wrap his head around it.

“You didn’t know?” Daniel shot back with a cold smirk. He let out a cold laugh. “Oh, I know. My sister’s always kept a low profile, and she never goes around telling people about her true identity. You’ve been all the way out in Ausposh, so of course you wouldn’t know.”

Patrick only knew that Amelia wasn’t really the Edwards family’s daughter, but it had never crossed his mind that she was actually Daniel’s biological sister.

Luckily, Aiden had already made sure Amelia stayed behind in Dreicean.

Thinking of this, Patrick regained his composure. “Mr. Zuckerberg, do you really think she has any chance of coming back?”

“Of course! The Zuckerberg family will stop at nothing to bring her back!” Daniel declared, his voice brimming with righteous resolve. It wasn’t just the Zuckerberg family, there was also the Hughes family and Project Azureveil. Together, they would unite as a formidable force, searching for Landon and bringing Amelia home.

“Well then, good luck, Mr. Zuckerberg!” Patrick chuckled, his tone dripping with disdain. The Kington Gang was the biggest underworld syndicate in the world–these heirs from powerful families had no clue just how dangerous it really was. Amelia was truly unlucky to have caught the eye of that madman Aiden. She’d never escape from the Kyle family estate. As for her and Landon’s child, Patrick wasn’t worried at all. Aiden would never leave any loose ends for himself.

“Patrick, just you wait!” Daniel snapped.

If looks could kill, Patrick would’ve been sliced into pieces by now. But Patrick just sat there in his wheelchair, waving his hand arrogantly, “Mr. Zuckerberg, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”

Daniel stormed out, not looking back for a second. Patrick never would have imagined that the next time Daniel came knocking, it’d be to take his life.

At the Kingsley family villa, Gloria was sobbing uncontrollably, while Edith kept trying to comfort her.

“Mrs. Kingsley, I really didn’t want to tell you about Amelia, but I was afraid it’d be even worse if you heard it from someone else,” Edith said softly.

“Edith, thank you for telling me the truth. I have to save Amelia. Please, tell me–what can I do?” Gloria pleaded, her voice choked with sobs.

Gloria still couldn’t wrap her head around it. Her son and daughter-in-law had just gone on a trip overseas–how could it be that neither of them was coming back? Now Landon’s life was hanging by a thread, and Amelia was stuck at the Kyle family estate. Gloria desperately wanted to save them, but she had no idea where to even start. Wanting to help but being powerless to do anything was the cruelest kind of heartbreak.

“Mrs. Kingsley, you really don’t need to do anything. Daniel will handle everything,” Edith said gently. “All you need to do is take care of yourself and not make us worry.”

“Really? Can Daniel truly save Amelia and Landon?” Gloria asked, her voice trembling with hope. She clung tightly to Edith’s hand, as if it were her last lifeline.

Edith thought for a moment, then said with absolute conviction, “Of course! He’s the head of the Zuckerberg family! He knows all kinds of powerful people! He’s the most awesome man in the world!”

Just as Daniel walked in with the butler, he caught the tail end of that sentence and froze in his tracks. The butler, being tactful, quietly slipped away without announcing Daniel’s arrival.

“Don’t worry, Mrs. Kingsley! Daniel will definitely bring Amelia home–he’s her big brother!” Edith said, her voice brimming with confidence. “And you don’t have to worry about Landon either. Daniel will find a way. He’s seriously awesome!”

Edith’s gentle voice, filled with unwavering determination, drifted out from the living room. Daniel’s heart melted-he almost wanted to cry. He thought, ‘I was so blinded by hatred before, and I actually hurt her like that! Edith, I’m so sorry…’

‘When all this is finally over, will you let me spend the rest of my life making it up to you?’ Daniel thought, his heart aching with regret.

Daniel stood just outside the living room, needing several minutes to steady his emotions before he could walk in. When Daniel finally pushed the door open, he had already regained his composure. “Mrs. Kingsley.”

“Daniel…” Gloria said, quickly getting to her feet.

Edith hadn’t expected him to return so suddenly, and she felt so awkward that she couldn’t bring herself to look at him. She wondered if he had heard what she just said.

“Edith is right. I’ll do everything in my power to bring Amelia and Landon back,” Daniel said. “But I need to head back to Lunova first. Would you like to come with me?”

Gloria stepped forward and hugged Daniel tightly, her voice trembling with emotion. “Thank you, Daniel. I’ll never forget what you’re doing for them. I don’t want to be a burden, but if you need any money…”

“No need. The Zuckerberg family has plenty of money,” Daniel said with a warm smile. “Just be careful around Patrick, and stay safe until we get back.”

Gloria nodded firmly. “I may not be a businesswoman, but I know how to handle people. From now on, everyone who used to work for Landon will take their orders from me.”

“Okay!”

Amelia was safe for now, but as for Landon, things were still up in the air. Daniel needed to hurry back to Lunova and work out a rescue plan with Tuff.
