Chapter 244

“Before Kayla came home, Amelia and she spent over a month together at the Kyle Estate. They got along great. After Kayla returned, she kept telling me how smart and beautiful Amelia was. Since they know each other so well, it’s easier for them to notice if something’s off,” Tuff explained.

Tuff’s analysis was spot on, and Daniel was in high spirits. If that’s the case, Amelia should be able to tell that the news about Landon’s death is fake too.

“Mr. Zuckerberg, I’m just worried that Amelia might really believe Landon is dead and get too upset,” Tuff said. “We need to find a way to let her know the truth.”

Daniel had the same idea.

But with the fake Kayla running the Kingsley family, there was no way for them to get in.

“I still can’t wrap my head around how this fake managed to fool everyone without raising any suspicion,” Tuff said.

Daniel replied, “You can imitate someone’s figure and demeanor, but Kayla’s face…”

“She couldn’t have gone so far as to ruin her own face just to look like Kayla, right?” Tuff frowned.

Amelia had been sharing a room with the fake Kayla, so she must have taken a close look at the scars on the fake’s face. If anything was off, she would’ve definitely noticed.

So even the scars on her face were copied to match Kayla’s exactly.

“Could it be that the Kington Gang had a double ready all this time?” Daniel asked.

Tuff shuddered. “If that’s true, then hasn’t Kayla been at risk every single moment she’s been with the Kyle family all these years?”

“Tuff, you’re way too nervous. Isn’t she alive and kicking?” Daniel gave Tuff a knowing look. “Don’t tell me you actually caught real feelings for her while pretending?”

Tuff cleared his throat. “No, nothing like that.”

But his ears flushed red.

Daniel just smiled and didn’t press the issue further.

“We need to tell Landon about this right away…” Daniel said.

“I’ll head to Norava myself. You get in touch with the Flying Tiger Sect and dig up the real identity of this fake,” Daniel instructed.

“Got it,” Tuff replied.

They split up–Daniel set off for Norava, while Tuff stayed behind, holding down the fort in the capital.

If Amelia had already uncovered the fake’s secret, then the Zuckerberg family had to make a move–if they acted too indifferent, the imposter might start getting suspicious of Amelia.

As Daniel was deep in thought, he had just arrived at the business airport when he spotted Giovanna.

She was dressed head-to-toe in black leather, looking striking and valiant.

Daniel smiled, “What are you doing here?” ‘Looks like the Hughes family finally couldn’t sit still.’

“My family sent me to Norava as their representative,” Giovanna replied, idly spinning a scalpel between her fingers.

The polished blade caught the sunlight, its cold gleam almost blinding.

“Alright, I’ve got a plane ready. Let’s head out together,” Daniel said.

In Norava, Landon disguised himself as a flower delivery man and showed up outside the Kingsley family mansion.

The place was already under the Kington Gang’s control. There was no way he could risk sneaking in now.

Of course, breaking in wasn’t really what he was after anyway.

All he wanted was to see Amelia in person and have a real “heart-to-heart” with her.

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” a haughty voice called out.

That spoiled tone–who else could it be but Elaine?

Landon pulled his hat down a little further and changed his voice. “I’m here to deliver some flowers. Mr. Zuckerberg sent them.”

“We’re not accepting them,” Elaine snapped. Of course, she knew all about the Zuckerberg family–they were Amelia’s people, after all.

“Even if she doesn’t want them, she has to refuse them herself,” Landon insisted.

“I’ll sign for her!” Elaine snapped.

“That’s not allowed,” Landon replied.

“Why are you delivery guys always so nosy?” Elaine said, getting impatient.

‘Amelia is about to die from the shock anyway, letting her get one last bouquet from her family wouldn’t make a difference. Maybe these flowers will get her all worked up, so when the bad news hits, the drama will be even juicier,’ she thought.

“Wait here, I’ll go ask,” Elaine said, heading inside. She bumped right into the fake Kayla and put on a fawning smile. “The Zuckerberg family sent someone with flowers. I stopped them at the door.”

When Amelia heard this in the living room, her eyes lit up with excitement.

She wasn’t really into flowers, and it wasn’t any special occasion—no holiday, no birthday. If Daniel was sending flowers out of nowhere, there had to be a reason for it.

She had to see for herself.

“Mom, can you take me to have a look?” Amelia said to Gloria.

In just a couple of days, Gloria looked like she’d wasted away, her face clouded with a worry that just wouldn’t go away.

She immediately led Amelia out of the living room.

The fake Kayla stepped in front of them. “Mom, you can’t go out.”

“Amelia loves flowers. Just let her take a quick look,” Gloria sighed. “Her hands are tied. What could she possibly do?”

The fake Kayla glanced at Amelia, who looked miserable, her eyes dull and lifeless.

“Just let her take a quick look. It’s fine,” Elaine said.

The fake Kayla finally relented. “I’ll go with you.”

“Alright,” Gloria replied.

They walked to the door and looked at the flowers through the fence, standing a couple of feet away.

Landon finally laid eyes on the wife he’d been longing for day and night, and his heart was bursting with joy.

He raised the huge bouquet high and said in his disguised voice, “Whether you accept these flowers or not, please have Mrs. Kingsley sign for them.”

As he spoke, he sent a message straight to her heart.

“Honey, it’s me!”

Amelia’s pupils practically quaked with shock.

She’d guessed the flower delivery guy might have some hidden agenda, but never in a million years did she expect it to be Landon in the flesh!

So he really hadn’t gone through with the surgery after all–just as she suspected!

“Honey, Tuff told me the Kayla at home is a fake, right? If that’s true, cough twice.”

Amelia quickly stifled a cough behind her hand. “Cough! Cough!”

Landon squeezed his eyes shut–Tuff’s hunch had been spot on!

His beloved sister would never hurt them. She’d only gone missing and been replaced by an imposter.

“Honey, don’t worry. I’ll take care of everything.”

“Cough! Cough!” Amelia coughed again, lowering her gaze.

It was the only way she could hide the excitement bubbling inside her and keep them from suspecting anything.

“Why do you keep coughing?” the fake Kayla asked, eyeing her suspiciously.

Amelia rubbed her throat. “Probably just got a bit of heat from eating too much junk lately. My lungs feel a little irritated.”

“Don’t accept the flowers,” the fake Kayla ordered.

“Alright,” Amelia replied.

The fake Kayla handed over the delivery card, checked it for anything suspicious, then kept a close eye on Amelia as she signed her name.

Amelia wrote her name stroke by stroke, neat and careful, just like a schoolkid.

The fake Kayla sneered, “Looks like a grade-schooler wrote that.”

“I was worried if I signed it all fancy and dramatic, you’d think I was sending some secret code and get the poor delivery guy in trouble,” Amelia replied with a wry smile.

“Good, you know what’s good for you,” the fake Kayla said.

The fake Kayla tossed the card onto the bouquet. “Now get lost!”

Landon gave a slight nod, hugged the bouquet, and rode off on his little electric scooter.

Amelia watched him disappear through the fence and finally let out a long sigh of relief.

‘Finally, we made contact!’ she thought.

“Amelia, I’ve got some news about Landon. Want to hear it?” Elaine asked, her tone dripping with arrogance.

‘It’s been days without any word from Landon–she must be desperate for news,’ Elaine thought.

“No,” Amelia said flatly.

Even Amelia turned her down–now that was unexpected.

Elaine was stunned. “Seriously? Did you even hear me? I’m talking about Landon!”

“Like I’d ever expect anything good to come out of your mouth. Save it,” Amelia shot back, leaning on Gloria as she slowly made her way back to the living room.

‘He’s alive, and he’s already onto the truth. That means he’ll be here to save me soon,’ she thought, ‘Thank goodness, thank goodness…’

“Did you just call me a dog, Amelia?” Elaine snapped, her hand shooting up in anger.

But the fake Kayla stopped her just in time. “Cut it out!”

Elaine awkwardly dropped her hand, then shoved her phone in Amelia’s face. “Amelia, your Landon is dead!”
