Chapter 218
Hearing that, Gloria was stunned. โYou?โ
โBefore I parted ways with Mr. Landon, I promised him that no matter what, I would protect the Kingsley Group, Aaron, andโฆโ
In truth, what Landon said was: โNo matter what, protect Amelia.โ
At that, Gloria felt like her brain was about to short-circuit as she tried to process everything. After a moment, she asked hopefully, โDo you mean Landon will come back?โ
But Aaron remained silent.
โAaron, say something!โ Gloria urged, desperate for him to tell Amelia that Landon had just been temporarily bewitched and thatโฆ
She just wanted Ameliaโs perseverance to have a glimmer of hope.
โMom, donโt push Aaron,โ Amelia interjected, stepping in to ease the situation. โI know what Landon meant; if he doesnโt come back, the Kingsley Group is just compensation for our child.โ
At that, Gloriaโs hope shattered once again. She was too heartbroken to say a word.
โMom, right now, dealing with Henry and protecting the family business is the most important thing. We can talk about everything else,โ Amelia said.
After all, she was pregnant. The long journey and the confrontation with Henry had left her exhausted and sleepy. All she wanted was to go home and get some rest.
โAmelia, Iโm sorryโฆโ Gloria sighed.
She then told Aaron to make sure he had a clear handle on the companyโs affairs during this period and to personally take Amelia home.
To show her sincerity, Gloria also invited Daniel and his sister to stay at her house.
โThereโs no need. Weโre only here to help Ameliaโnothing else,โ Daniel said.
But as Gloria was consumed by guilt, all she could do was do everything she could to be the best mother-in-law possible.
When Amelia finally stepped back into the home she hadnโt seen in ages, her heart was a whirlwind of emotions.
โLandon, Iโm home now. Iโm here to watch over the Kingsley Group for you,โ she thought.
โBut what about you? When are you coming home?โ she wondered.
โAmelia, from now on, I will dote on no one but you,โ Gloria said sincerely, handing over all of Kingsley Groupโs company chops and official seals to Amelia.
She even brought out her shares, along with a transfer agreementโif Amelia just signed her name, sheโd instantly become the biggest shareholder in the Kingsley Group.
But Amelia didnโt need any of this.
Whether Landon came back or not, she never intended to take over what belonged to him.
She never wanted for anything anyway.
But as she couldnโt tell Gloria the whole story, she just accepted everything to give her some peace of mind.
โAmelia, you should get some rest. If you need anything, just call me,โ Gloria said.
โOkay,โ Amelia nodded.
Handing everything over to Amelia, Gloria finally felt a bit of relief.
โLooks like the big oneโs done forโguess itโs time to focus on the little one,โ she thought to herself.
With both her and Ameliaโs guidance, she was sure her grandson would make something of himself one day.
Amelia lay on the wedding bed, her exhaustion meter maxed out, but no matter how tired she was, sleep just wouldnโt come.
She glanced around the room, and every little detail from the past came rushing back to her.
Tears streamed down her face.
โHubbyโฆโ Amelia whispered.
Meanwhile, at the Grand Vista Hotel in Lunova, Aiden got furious when he heard that Amelia had gone back to Norava.
He yelled, โHas she lost her mind? Landon doesnโt even want her anymoreโso what the hell is she going back for?
โIs she trying to snatch the family fortune? Does she really need the Kingsley familyโs money that badly? If she wants money, just tell her to come backโIโll give her whatever she wants!
โAnd whatโs up with Sandra? How dare she go and mess with Amelia? Butler, I want her dealt withโnow!โ
But the butler remained silent.
Paloma, on the other hand, sipped her red wine gracefully, watching her brother-in-law lose his mind.
โHow unlucky Sandra is, becoming the target of Aidenโs anger and ending up paying the ultimate price,โ Paloma thought.
But she also thought Monica was just too vicious. She had already stolen Ameliaโs husband, and now she was trying to harm the child in her womb.
โAiden, Sandra was just a pawn. Ameliaโs counterattack was too fierce. Monica will definitely make another move,โ Paloma reminded Aiden slowly.
Hearing that, Aiden froze, his expression darkening as a storm brewed in his eyes.
He immediately called Monica. โI warned you not to lay a finger on Amelia. Did you forget what I told you?โ
โAiden, I didnโt do anything to her,โ Monica replied, sounding innocent.
โMonica, I know exactly what youโre like. Sandra is done for! And if you ever pull something like this again, Iโll make you pay!โ Aiden roared.
His handsome features twisted, those charming eyes now brimming with murderous intent.
โAiden, that was all Sandraโs doingโit had nothing to do with me. Donโt worry, I wonโt hurt Amelia,โ Monica hurried to explain. โBut Aiden, are you really going to let her have someone elseโs child?โ
โSheโs not in good health. She has to carry this baby to term, no matter what. Do you get it?โ Aiden snapped.
โGot it, got itโฆโ Monica replied quickly.
โFrom now on, I donโt want to see a single headline about you or Landon in Lunova ever again!โ Aiden warned coldly.
โYesโฆโ Monica answered meekly.
Paloma looked at Aiden, and for a moment, it almost felt like she was seeing her husband Jonny all over again.
โThe Kyles are so obsessiveโฆโ she thought to herself.
She took a few hearty sips of wine, trying to calm her nerves and keep her cool.
Once Aiden was done arguing, she handed him a glass. โAiden, do you really care about Amelia that much?โ
โYeah,โ Aiden said with a bitter smile, rubbing his forehead. โI donโt even know whatโs gotten into meโIโm just totally hung up on her.โ
โThen how about we go to Norava and check on her?โ Paloma suggested.
At that, Aiden was caught off guard, his pupils shrinking. โPaloma, is that necessary?โ
โI want to go. Donโt you?โ Paloma swirled the wine in her glass, looking every bit the picture of elegance and grace.
The lace mask hid her face, betraying not a hint of emotion.
But Aiden hesitated.
He wanted to go to Norava to see Amelia, too, but there was no way he could bring Paloma along.
If she started remembering anything, their parents would have his head.
โPaloma, I just want to go home,โ Aiden said.
Hearing that, Paloma looked a bit disappointed, but she didnโt insist. โAlright, letโs go home.โ
โMm,โ Aiden nodded.
But his eyes glinted with calculation.
Heโd coax Paloma back home first, then make his way to Norava.
After all, Landon was never coming back in this lifetime. He had all the time he needed to wait for Amelia to come around.
โButler, pack my things and book a flight,โ Aiden ordered.
At that, the butler accepted the order and hurried off.
Seeing all this, Paloma just smiled.
After finally breaking free from the Kyle family, there was no way she was just going to turn around and go back like nothing happened.
As soon as Aiden looked away, she quietly sent out a message.
Half an hour later, the butler rushed in. โMr. Kyle, things arenโt looking goodโฆโ
โWhat now?โ Aiden said impatiently.
โMr. Landen snuck off to Norava,โ the butler reported.
Hearing that, Aiden was stunned.
โAnd heโs sick. But Ms. Meyers took him away. She said Miss Paloma should come pick him up herself,โ the butler added.
The next day, Aiden brought Paloma with him to Norava.
The familiar atmosphere washed over her, and for a moment, she was lost in a daze.
โCould this be the place where I grew up?โ she wondered.
