Chapter 219

โ€œWhat do you think of this place?โ€ Aiden asked nervously.

Paloma withdrew her gaze, her eyes calm. โ€œItโ€™s alright, but itโ€™s not as bustling as Lunova.โ€

โ€˜So she doesnโ€™t really like it,โ€™ Aiden thought to himself.

He let out a quiet sigh of relief.

โ€œLetโ€™s go home after we pick up Landen,โ€ Aiden said.

โ€œOkay,โ€ Paloma nodded.

Her easy agreement made Aiden feel even more relieved.

As expected, the chip the Montgomery family had painstakingly developed worked wonders. The blocked memories would never come back.

โ€œMr. Kyle, where are we headed now?โ€ the butler asked.

Immediately, Aiden called Edith. โ€œMs. Meyers, howโ€™s Landen doing?โ€

โ€œHis feverโ€™s gone, but heโ€™s not in great shape,โ€ Edith replied.

โ€œThanks for taking care of him. Weโ€™ll come pick him up now,โ€ Aiden said.

โ€œOkay, Iโ€™m at the Kingsley familyโ€™s place,โ€ Edith said.

At that, Aidenโ€™s expression darkened instantly.

โ€œMr. Kyle, I donโ€™t have a place in Norava. Iโ€™ve just been staying at Ameliaโ€™s place, thatโ€™s allโ€“thereโ€™s nothing else to it,โ€ Edith explained.

But her explanation didnโ€™t do much to ease Aidenโ€™s concerns.

โ€œIs Amelia at home?โ€ Aiden took a deep breath and asked.

โ€œYes,โ€ Edith replied.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™m on my way,โ€ Aiden said.

โ€œOkay,โ€ Edith said.

As Aiden hadnโ€™t seen Amelia in days, he was starting to miss her.

Anyway, Paloma was still wearing her mask and had lost her memory. As long as Amelia kept quiet, there was no way Gloria would recognize her.

Of course, Aiden was sure that Amelia wouldnโ€™t dare reveal anything.

โ€œPaloma, we have to make a trip to the Kingsley familyโ€™s place,โ€ Aiden said after a momentโ€™s thought. โ€œYou know thereโ€™s bad blood between me and them, so when we get there, donโ€™t say or do anything. Weโ€™ll just pick up Landen and leave.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Paloma nodded.

She stayed aloof and composed, as regal as ever. There wasnโ€™t the slightest ripple in her calm eyes.

But only she knew how stormy her heart was!

The Kingsley family in Noravaโ€ฆit was her homeโ€ฆ

At the Kingsley familyโ€™s place, Amelia nervously asked Edith, โ€œWhat did he say?โ€

โ€œHe agreed,โ€ Edith replied.

She put down her phone and asked worriedly, โ€œAmelia, do you think Paloma might remember anything?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t know,โ€ Amelia said, shaking her head. โ€œSheโ€™s not just lost her memory, sheโ€™s also sick. I canโ€™t just tell her who she is. But this is the best chance for her to meet my mother-in-law.โ€

โ€œYeah, youโ€™re right. Before the Kington Gang is taken down, they probably wonโ€™t get another chance to see each other,โ€ Edith sighed. โ€œGood thing you brought Landen here.โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t you pick him up?โ€ Amelia suddenly froze.

โ€œWhat?โ€ Edith questioned.

She was dumbfounded.

The two of them stared at each other blankly.

Landen was still just a kidโ€“thereโ€™s no way he couldโ€™ve flown overseas without an adult.

Neither of them had done anything, so how on earth did he get to Norava?

โ€œCould it be Aiden?โ€ Edith whispered, her face turning pale with anxiety.

If it was Aiden, then they were inviting a wolf into their home today.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll get the bodyguards over here,โ€ Amelia said quickly.

She immediately arranged for the bodyguards to be on standby. If Aiden made a move, theyโ€™d pin him down right away.

โ€œLanden just woke up,โ€ Gloria said.

She came downstairs holding Landen in her arms, her face beaming with joy.

The little boyโ€™s arrival had, for the moment, swept away the heartache she felt over her sonโ€™s betrayal.

Hearing Gloriaโ€™s voice, Amelia and Edith could only drop the subject for now.

โ€œMs. Meyers, Ms. Edwards,โ€ Landen called out sweetly.

โ€œLanden, how did you get to Norava?โ€ Amelia asked anxiously.

โ€œI flew here,โ€ Landen answered.

โ€œI mean, who brought you over?โ€ Amelia pressed.

Landen tilted his head, thought for a second, and said, โ€œUncle sent someone to pick me up.โ€

At this, both Amelia and Edith were stunned. โ€˜Is Aiden really up to something?โ€™ they both thought anxiously.

โ€œLanden, Grandma Gloria bought you lots of new toys. Take a look and see if you like them,โ€ Gloria said, and laid out all the toys.

โ€œWow, thank you, Grandma Gloria! I love all of them,โ€ Landen said happily. โ€œGrandma Gloria, youโ€™re even better to me than my real grandma.โ€

This was the first time Landen had ever mentioned his grandma. Amelia seized the chance and asked, โ€œLanden, is your grandma not good to you?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s not that sheโ€™s not good to me,โ€ Landen replied. โ€œItโ€™s just that sheโ€™s way too strict. Sheโ€™s always making me practice shooting, but I donโ€™t like thatโ€ฆโ€

โ€˜So the Kington Gangโ€™s training starts from such a young age,โ€™ Amelia thought to herself.

โ€œWhat do you like, Landen?โ€ Gloria asked.

โ€œI like toys, amusement parks, and kindergarten,โ€ Landen replied.

This was what a normal kidโ€™s life should be like.

Amelia couldnโ€™t help ruffling Landenโ€™s hair, her heart aching with sympathy for him.

โ€˜Is the other half of his blood really from the Kyle family?โ€™ Amelia wondered.

But from what theyโ€™d found out, the Kyle family only had one sonโ€“Aiden.

โ€˜Then who on earth is Landenโ€™s father?โ€™ she thought, her mind swirling with questions.

Before Amelia could figure it out, the butler hurried in, looking anxious. โ€œMr. Kyle is here.โ€

โ€œLet Mr. Kyle and Paloma in,โ€ Amelia said. โ€œJust the two of them.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

With that, the butler hurried out, and immediately the whole villa was on high alert, afraid that Aiden might try to use force.

But to everyoneโ€™s surprise, Aiden came in with only Paloma.

โ€œMommy!โ€ Landen shouted the moment he saw Paloma.

He dashed over to her, his face lit up with joy.

Paloma bent down and scooped Landen up. โ€œLanden, you little rascal. You shouldnโ€™t be bothering others like that.โ€

โ€œMommy, I was sick,โ€ Landen whined sweetly, clinging to Palomaโ€™s neck. โ€œYou and Uncle werenโ€™t here, so I could only go to Ms. Meyers.โ€

โ€œClever boy,โ€ Paloma praised him, using the moment to glance around the room.

โ€˜Why does this place feel so familiar?

โ€˜Could this be where I spent my childhood?

โ€˜Is that gentle-looking woman on the sofaโ€ฆreally my mom?โ€™ she wondered.

She racked her brain, but no matter how hard she tried, nothing came back to her.

But an inexplicable sense of warmth and familiarity surged through her, flooding her whole being.

She just didnโ€™t want to leave this place at all.

โ€œPaloma, letโ€™s go home,โ€ Aiden said.

โ€œMs. Meyers helped take care of Landen. We should at least thank her,โ€ Paloma said, and to everyoneโ€™s surprise, she sat down.

Seeing this, Aidenโ€™s heart leaped into his throat.

Amelia and Edith were also on edge, worried that anything could trigger Palomaโ€™s condition.

Gloria, not knowing the truth, just couldnโ€™t shake the feeling that the woman before her looked strangely familiar.

She gave Paloma a once-over and asked, โ€œAre you Miss Kyle?โ€

โ€œYes. And thank you for looking after my son,โ€ Paloma replied with a gentle smile, her eyes as calm and unreadable as ever.

โ€œYouโ€™re welcome. Landen is such a smart and adorable boyโ€“I just love having him around. You all should drop by whenever you like!โ€ Gloria smiled warmly.

โ€œIโ€™m afraid thatโ€™s not possible,โ€ Paloma said, shaking her head. โ€œWeโ€™re about to return to Lunova.โ€

โ€œOhโ€ฆโ€ Gloria said, her disappointment clear.

โ€œMs. Meyers, thank you for looking after Landen,โ€ Aiden said, taking off his watch. โ€œPlease accept this as a thank-you gift.โ€

โ€œOh, no, I canโ€™t accept that,โ€ Edith declined quickly, shaking her head.

She didnโ€™t dare take anything from Aiden. What if there were a tracker or a recording device hidden inside? That would be a nightmare.

โ€œAiden, a manโ€™s watch isnโ€™t really suitable for her,โ€ Paloma said with a smile, taking off her watch. โ€œMs. Meyers, why not take mine instead? Itโ€™s the latest womenโ€™s model, and it suits you perfectly.โ€

โ€œButโ€ฆisnโ€™t this a bit too expensive?โ€ Edith said hesitantly.

โ€œCompared to my son, this is nothing at all,โ€ Paloma smiled.

At this, Ameliaโ€™s heart pounded in her chest.

Ever since Paloma lost her memory, she had never remembered that Landen was her son. Back at the manor, sheโ€™d always just called him โ€œLandenโ€ and never once said โ€œmy son.โ€ But todayโ€ฆ

โ€˜Did coming back here trigger something?โ€™ Amelia thought anxiously.

โ€œEdith, just take it,โ€ Amelia said. โ€œOtherwise, theyโ€™ll keep feeling like they owe you a favor.โ€

โ€œAlright then,โ€ Edith said, reluctantly taking the gift.

Then Aiden urged impatiently, โ€œPaloma, letโ€™s go home already!โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t be in such a hurry, stay a bit longer,โ€ Gloria said. For some reason, she just felt especially close to Paloma and wanted to keep her around a little longer.

She had the staff bring out some coffee and cakes.

Paloma helped herself, acting like she belonged there.

โ€˜Seriously, what am I even supposed to say to this?โ€™ Aiden thought, completely at a loss.
