“This is what made Monica fall for Paul,” Amelia said, pursing her lips. Just picturing Monica hanging all over that old man every day made her want to laugh. Talk about getting a taste of your own medicine!
According to Landon, Monica’s father was so furious that he refused to go home, instead spending all his time at the door building, which was how they managed to track him down.
“That’s really something…” Aiden had a wicked thought flash through his mind for just a second. 'What if I made Night Owl swallow the love spell? Would she fall for me?' he wondered. But the idea disappeared as quickly as it came. Night Owl was one of the rarest master hypnotists in the world–how could she possibly be controlled by such a petty trick? Not only would she never fall for him, she'd spill him on the spot!
“The Mystic Sect really are something else. Now that there are already two love spells, there might be even more. Landon staying with the Montgomery family is seriously risky…” Night Owl’s expression grew grave. Landon had already been hit with the love spell twice, and only managed to dodge it by pure luck. If there was a third or even a fourth time…
“He’s pretending to be under the parasite’s spell right now, so he can fool them for a while,” Amelia said.
Night Owl and Aiden exchanged a glance, their brows furrowed. To keep up the act, Landon would have to pretend he was madly in love with Monica. But Monica was already head over heels for Paul, which meant Landon just got dragged into a love triangle! Ugh, just picturing that scene was seriously cringe–worthy! Even knowing it was all just an act, it still gave Amelia a strange thrill.
“I’m really okay with it,” Amelia said, taking the initiative. “As long as Landon’s safe, nothing else matters to me.”
“Even if he ends up in bed with Monica?” Aiden blurted out.
The air instantly went dead silent. Night Owl gave him a swift kick. “If you can’t say anything decent, then just zip it!”
“I–I was just asking, that’s all. Landon would never actually do anything with Monica…” Aiden winced, clutching his aching knee, trying to play it off with a sheepish grin.
“Get lost,” Amelia said bluntly.
“Sure thing! I’ll be back tomorrow,” Aiden replied, not missing a beat. Aiden scurried off in a flash.
Night Owl looked at Amelia with concern. “Amy…”
Chapter 318
“Even if he really does end up in bed with her, it’s okay. I know he wouldn’t have a choice,” Amelia said, forcing a smile. "When it comes to Landon's safety, nothing else matters.”
“You’re too softhearted. He’d never do that,” Night Owl said, shaking her head with a pained look as she reached out to hold Amelia’s hand.
“Night Owl, your hands are freezing, it’s like you’ve lost all your warmth! Hurry up and get under the covers!” Amelia quickly pulled Night Owl, making sure she was bundled up tight.
Night Owl gave a wry smile. “I was just trying to warm you up, but I guess I ended up startling you.”
“Night Owl, your temperature is way too low. Did you ask a doctor about it?” Amelia asked.
“Yeah, I did. It’s nothing to worry about,” Night Owl replied.
“Then get some sleep. You had a tough day,” Amelia said.
“What about you?” Amelia asked.
“I’ll have someone come retrieve the love spell,” she replied.
“Stay safe,” Night Owl reminded her softly.
After reminding her, Night Owl couldn’t fight off her exhaustion anymore and soon fell into a deep sleep. Amelia picked up the love spell and went to another room in the hotel. Kayla and Tuff had already been waiting for quite some time.
“Kayla, Tuff,” Amelia said, handing over the box.
Kayla stared at the thing in shock. “Is this really the love spell?”
“It really is twisted.” Tuff gritted his teeth in frustration.
'Seriously, what is the Mystic Sect anyway? How do they always have all this freaky stuff?' Tuff thought to himself.
“Tuff, enough talk. Start analyzing it now,” Kayla said seriously.
Now that they’d found the Mystic Sect’s stronghold, there was no need for Landon to keep playing the undercover role.
“Sis–in–law, you’re incredible!” Tuff couldn’t help but admire how efficient Amelia was. Just two days ago, they’d found the Mystic Sect’s building, and today she’d already braved another risk to meet up with Landon. Not only did they exchange crucial intel, she even secured the love spell. The Flying Tiger Sect’s investigations couldn’t hold a candle to her!
“If my Amy had grown up in the Zuckerberg family or joined the army, she’d be a real iron lady by now,” Daniel’s voice came from behind the door, his face full of pride.
Amelia was both surprised and delighted. “Daniel? What are you doing here?”
“Edith’s back in Lunova, so I snuck away to check on you,” Daniel said with an apologetic smile. “You must’ve been scared these past few days, huh?”
“I’m okay,” Amelia replied with a smile. “Daniel, now that you’ve finally won Edith over, don’t get involved in our mess. Just go back and spend time with her!”
“The wedding’s coming up soon. How can I get married in peace if I don’t help you guys sort this out first?” Daniel said, gently patting Amelia’s head.
Chapter 318
But what about Edith? Amelia asked, a little worried.
“Maisie is at home looking after her. We haven’t told her anything about all this,” Daniel replied.
Amelia finally relaxed a bit. “I’ve got enough people on my side, really. You should go back.”
“No way! I’m afraid you guys will drag your feet and I’ll miss my own wedding,” Daniel said with a grin.
Tuff snorted. “Yeah, right. Like you’d actually call off your wedding just because of us.”
“Of course not. But I’d never forgive myself if I missed it,” Daniel frowned. His wife and his little sister–they were both precious to him. He’d do anything to protect them.
“Daniel, you take the love spell back,” Kayla said, handing it over to him. “And after that, just stay out of this.”
It felt like everyone knew about his legendary wife–chasing disaster, and they all looked at him with pity.
'Come on, it wasn’t that bad!' Daniel grumbled to himself.
“Whose love life doesn’t have a few potholes? It’s not like they’re any better–maybe they should worry about their own drama first,” he thought.
“Don’t worry, we’ve got everything under control here. You just focus on holding down the fort in Lunova,” Tuff said.
Daniel let out a sigh. “I literally just got here today…”
“Exactly! So if you hurry, you can still catch a flight and squeeze in a couple hours with your wife before she goes to sleep,” Tuff teased with a grin.
Truth was, he missed Edith too, so after hanging out with Amelia for a bit, he didn’t stick around long before heading back home.
But what he didn’t expect was to run into Joanna at the airport. She was wearing a black trench coat, no makeup, and without her usual sharp edge, she looked like just another ordinary woman. For a moment, Daniel felt a strange sense of distance, but he caught up to her and asked, “What are you doing here?”
“I’ve got some business to take care of,” Joanna replied, clearly surprised to see him. “Aren’t you supposed to be back in Lunova with Edith? Oh, wait, you’re here to see Amelia, aren’t you?” She knew Amelia was in Dreicean…
Daniel’s heart sank. For Edith’s sake, he’d already indulged her by letting her return to Lunova, but now she was getting herself mixed up with the Mystic Sect again?
'She really never learns her lesson!' Daniel thought.
“Mr. Montgomery called me back. But don’t worry, I won’t say anything about Amelia’s whereabouts,” Joanna said, adjusting her sunglasses and glanced around. Someone like her, a nobody, didn’t have a private jet or bodyguards. No one was watching her.
“You’re still going to help him?” Daniel demanded.
“This is my own business. Once I’ve taken care of it, I’ll go back to the Zuckerberg family,” Joanna replied, a wave of frustration flickering in her eyes behind the sunglasses.

She’d spent all her life tangled up in a world of danger and grudges, experiencing every kind of love and hate, and in the end, she had withdrawn from it. She was just tired of losing. She had no desire to ever return to the Mystic Sect—she just wanted to settle down and live out her days in Lunova. She was only doing this for Edith and Maisie. But sadly, once you got sucked into the Mystic Sect, it was like falling into a bottomless sea–there was no way out.
“You’re unbelievable! There’s just no getting through to you!” Daniel stormed off, fuming.
Joanna stood there watching his back for what felt like ages before finally tearing her eyes away. She took a few deep breaths, pulled herself together, then hailed a cab and headed to the Montgomery family.
