Listen to this chapter:

โ€œDonโ€™t worry about anything, Kayla. Weโ€™re the ones who have true love,โ€ Amelia said, handing Kimsey over to Kayla with capust ease.

She shook out her arms, stretching them. โ€œThe little brat keeps getting heavier. My arms are sore! Kayla, was it the same when you had to carry Landen?โ€

Kayla chuckled. โ€œAbsolutely. I could probably do bicep curls now.โ€

Amelia pouted, โ€œYour brother keeps asking me to have another baby, but I told him no way. Giving birth is like knocking on death's door. Once is more than enough for me.โ€

Kayla knew exactly what she meant: with Landen around, there was no need for another child.

โ€˜Thatโ€™s certainly a unique way to comfort me,โ€™ Kayla thought.

Kayla teased Kimsey and said, โ€œHonestly, it doesnโ€™t matter. If I can have another, great. If not, Tuff doesnโ€™t mind.โ€

โ€œYeah, I donโ€™t mind,โ€ Tuff said, sounding like heโ€™d said it a hundred times already.

โ€˜Man, these women are always stirring things up and putting me on the spot,โ€™ Tuff thought, feeling like he was always getting roasted.

โ€œIโ€™ve made arrangements with Giovanna to get my face treated,โ€ Kayla said as she teased Kimsey. โ€œThe kidโ€™s got guts. Heโ€™s not even fazed by me looking like this.โ€

Kimsey giggled, reaching out his little hand, trying to touch Kaylaโ€™s scars.

Kayla instinctively pulled back, not letting him touch them.

Kimsey looked a little disappointed.

โ€œHeโ€™s not just unafraid. Heโ€™s downright curious!โ€ Amelia said with a laugh.

The adults all laughed, just chalking it up to Kimsey being a curious kid.

Kayla pinched his cheek gently and said, โ€œYouโ€™re so brave, Kimsey. Youโ€™re going to be something special when you grow up. Make sure you look out for me, alright?โ€

Kimsey gave a solemn little nod.

โ€œOh man, heโ€™s got that oldโ€“soul vibe like Landon did when he was a kid!โ€ Kayla joked, laughing again.

The adults burst into laughter again, their voices spilling out the windows and drifting through the whole courtyard.

Emma, who had seen Kaylaโ€™s sharp tongue in action that day, was in the kitchen gossiping. โ€œMrs. Kingsley is something! She put Mrs. Prescott in her place so fast. Mrs. Prescott tried to play the victim, but Mrs. Kingsley was one step ahead.โ€

โ€œWow, thatโ€™s impressive! Thereโ€™s someone in this family who can put Mrs. Prescott in her place!โ€ another servant said.

โ€œExactly! You all better watch your step. Donโ€™t cross her,โ€ Emma warned.

โ€œShe canโ€™t even have kids. Sheโ€™s enjoying the bossโ€™s attention for now. Give it a few years, and she wonโ€™t be so high and mighty!โ€ another servant scoffed.

Chapter 357

โ€œThe Kingsley family had people over today. You know whoโ€™s got their back?โ€ Emma gossiped.

โ€œWho?โ€ someone asked.

โ€œThe Hughes family and the Zuckerberg family! All heavy inโ€“laws!โ€ Emma replied, eyes wide.

โ€œWith that kind of backing, the Prescott family can only lie low!โ€ another servant chimed in.

โ€œYeah. Be smart. Donโ€™t bring up the whole havingโ€“kids thing in front of her from now on,โ€ Emma warned.

โ€œYeah, we get itโ€ฆโ€ everyone chimed in.

Amelia and Landon showing up in the city had the Prescott family sweating bullets.

Lily, the familyโ€™s drama queen, was suddenly silent.

The whole Prescott family was on their best behavior. Not a single soul dared to badmouth Kayla anymore.

Kayla was pretty pleased.

Having her family backing her up changed the game.

It was nothing like those years sheโ€™d spent trapped in the Kyle family, amnesiac and at everyoneโ€™s mercy.

Amelia spent that night at the Prescott familyโ€™s house with her child.

Landon used the opportunity to return to the Flying Tiger Sect and meet Larry, his master, in person.

โ€œYouโ€™re here. Whereโ€™s Joanna?โ€ said Larry, who was casually making coffee, like it was another day.

The steam swirling around him made his white hair and beard look almost ethereal, like some wise old master straight out of a story.

Landon turned off the coffee maker. โ€œCoffee at night will keep you up, you know.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m getting old. I barely got a few hours of sleep anyway,โ€ Larry replied, smiling as he glanced over at Landon.

Landon was his star pupil, the strongest in the Flying Tiger Sect. If Landon werenโ€™t so determined to step down, Larry wouldโ€™ve seriously considered passing the reins of the sect to him.

โ€œMr. Mitchell, Iโ€™m here to get my resignation signed,โ€ Landon said, getting straight to the point. โ€œAs for Joanna, sheโ€™s hiding so well, we canโ€™t do a thing about it.โ€

โ€œOh? Even Mr. Zuckerberg canโ€™t do anything?โ€ Larry raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical.

โ€œThatโ€™s right,โ€ Landon nodded.

Landon looked directly at Larry with a clear conscience.

They stared each other down, while Tuff stood off to the side. He was so nervous that he didnโ€™t dare say a word, trying his best to be invisible.

Chapter 357

โ€œFinish this mission, then Iโ€™ll sign your resignation,โ€ Larry said, his tone calm but firm.

Tuff frowned.

Landonโ€™s face clearly showed his displeasure. โ€œMr. Mitchell, youโ€™re making things difficult for me.โ€

โ€œLandon, this is a task from the organization,โ€ Larry said, stroking his beard. โ€œI know itโ€™s hard, but the good of the country comes before everything.โ€

โ€œIsnโ€™t Monroe here? Ask him,โ€ Landon said.

At the mention of Monroe, Larry looked even more helpless. โ€œIf we could get anything out of him, would we even need you?โ€

โ€œTry threatening him with Monica. Heโ€™ll crack for sure,โ€ Landon said, his tone firm.

โ€œWe already tried. Didnโ€™t work,โ€ Larry replied, shaking his head.

โ€œThen you guys didnโ€™t push hard enough!โ€ Landon snorted. โ€œWhere are they? Iโ€™ll handle it myself.โ€

Larry raised a hand, signaling Landon to chill out. Stroking his beard, he said slowly, โ€œActually, Monroe added a condition.โ€

โ€œWhat condition?โ€ Landon asked, his voice tense.

โ€œHe says heโ€™ll turn over all the tech if you agree to marry Monica.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s out of the question!โ€ Landon exploded, his anger boiling over. โ€˜The people of the Montgomery family are insane. Theyโ€™re still hung up on me!โ€™ he thought, his fists clenched.

โ€œWait, Monicaโ€™s love spell is broken?โ€ Tuff cut in, his brow furrowed.

Larry nodded. โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œWho broke it?โ€ Tuff demanded angrily.

Monica was obsessed with love, latching onto anyone she met.

It had taken so much effort to get her to cling to Paul, so how could someone break the spell now?

โ€œWhen we picked her up, she was already back to normal. And sheโ€™s pregnant. Our principle is not to harm the pregnant woman,โ€ Larry explained.

โ€œSo youโ€™d rather throw your student under the bus instead?โ€ Tuff sneered. โ€œThatโ€™s some twisted logic youโ€™ve got there, Mr. Mitchell.โ€

Larryโ€™s face darkened, and he snapped, โ€œTuff!โ€

โ€œMr. Mitchell, I know Iโ€™m out of line. Come on, Landon is your student and has done so much for the organization. You know it better than anyone. Ever since he was left incapacitated, he hasnโ€™t had a single peaceful day. Canโ€™t you show him a little mercy for once and let him off the hook?โ€ Tuff said, his voice thick with frustration.

There was a storm brewing in Larryโ€™s eyes, and he said nothing for a long moment.

Finally, when the air in the coffee room felt thick enough to cut, Larry let out a sigh, saying, โ€œI know you all resent me, but Iโ€™ve been doing everything I can to protect you.โ€

Chapter 357

Landon was stunned, his eyes turning razorโ€“sharp in an instant. โ€œMr. Mitchell?โ€

โ€œCome on, let me show you,โ€ Larry said, leading the way.

The research department was a key division of the Flying Tiger Sect, and it had relocated to the Project Azureveil facility.

Back then, they even pulled a fast one on the Meyers family using the project.

However, Landon hadnโ€™t set foot in there again after it was completed.

Stepping inside today, Landon was hit by a wave of unfamiliarity and awe.

โ€œMr. Mitchell, Mr. Kingsley!โ€ The researchers all greeted them with respect.

Larry glanced at Landon. โ€œBeen a while since you got this kind of attention, Landon?โ€

โ€œI get that every day at the office,โ€ Landon replied, sounding completely unfazed.

He wasnโ€™t a kid chasing glory anymore. These days, all he wanted was a simple, content life.

โ€œYouโ€™ve gotten less ambitious since you got married,โ€ Larry remarked.

โ€œItโ€™s not that. When I was in a coma after the car accident, it made me rethink a lot,โ€ Landon replied.

Larryโ€™s expression grew complicated. โ€œLandon, are you blaming me?โ€

โ€œNo. You didnโ€™t even know about the accident back then,โ€ Landon replied, keeping his voice calm.

On the surface, Landon stayed cool and collected, but he couldnโ€™t help feeling a little uneasy about it inwardly.

His life was hanging by a thread back then.

His mother had to shoulder all the pressure to protect him alone, but she was powerless to save him.

Henryโ€™s family was scheming behind the scenes, hoping Landonโ€™d die so they could snatch up everything for themselves.

Did anyone step in to help him?

Not a soul.

Landon had been abandoned by the whole world.

If Amelia hadnโ€™t suddenly appeared and helped pull him back from the brink, he probably wouldnโ€™t even be alive now.

It wasnโ€™t that he blamed the sect. What he needed emotionally had simply changed.

The life of blood and battle wasnโ€™t for him anymore. All he wanted now was a quiet life with his family.

Let the passion for youngsters.

โ€œLandon, back then, lโ€ฆโ€ Larry began, but his words trailed off.

Chapter 357

Larry was still trying to explain, but Landon had already zeroed in on Monica and was striding straight toward her.
