Chapter 392

Tuff froze, completely stunned.

โ€˜Did I really get her pregnant that night?โ€˜ Tuff couldnโ€™t help but doubt himself.

โ€˜No way. I was way too drunk to do anything. And when I realized something was off, my clothes were still on,โ€™ he thought.

โ€˜Besides, I even called the cops myself!โ€˜ Tuff reminded himself.

โ€˜Wait a minute!โ€˜ Tuff suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, his whole body tensing up.

Joyce is a doctor. Even if I wasnโ€™t able to perform that night, she couldโ€™ve still found a way to get my sperm and used artificial insemination or somethingโ€ฆ Tuffโ€™s mind spun with wild possibilities.

โ€˜Shit! My whole reputation is going down the drain!โ€˜ he panicked.

โ€˜Iโ€™m totally innocent, but now everyoneโ€™s going to think Iโ€™m guilty!โ€˜ Tuff fumed, feeling completely wronged.

He didnโ€™t even need Kayla to blow up. He couldnโ€™t accept this outcome himself. Tuff felt utterly defeated.

โ€œTuffโ€ฆโ€ Maggie saw the look on her sonโ€™s face and quickly reached out, holding onto him tightly.

A smug glint flashed in Joyceโ€™s tearโ€“filled eyes.

โ€˜Thank God I planned ahead!โ€˜ she thought, feeling a wave of relief wash over her.

As long as Tuff gave in, everything else was easy. But this baby? No way she was keeping it.

โ€˜What if Tuff suddenly wants another DNA test one day?โ€˜ she fretted, anxiety gnawing at her.

โ€œDoctorโ€ฆโ€ Joyce blinked rapidly, trying to signal the doctor to hurry up and take her for the procedure.

But the new attending doctor said, โ€œMs. Lambert, thereโ€™s no need to worry. Youโ€™re not going to be having an abortion.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Joyce was completely stunned.

โ€˜Didnโ€™t we agree on this?โ€˜ she thought, panic rising in her chest.

โ€œMs. Lambert, youโ€™re in great shape, and the baby is tough too! Weโ€™ll wait and see if thereโ€™s any bleeding,โ€ the doctor said, giving Joyce a reassuring pat. โ€œIโ€™ve already given you a sedative. Just sleep it off, youโ€™ll be fine.โ€

Joyce was shocked.

The sedative hit fast, and Joyce felt her strength draining away. She shot her parents a desperate look, begging for help.

โ€˜Dad, Mom, I canโ€™t have this baby! Hurry, get me out of here. Take me to get an abortion!โ€˜ she pleaded inwardly, panic written all over her face.

But her parents had no idea what she really wanted.

Since the doctor said there was no risk of miscarriage, they felt completely at ease.

Once the baby was born, Tuff would have to take care of Joyceโ€™s future, and the Lambert family could cling to the Prescott family and live off them for the rest of their lives.

โ€œThis is the Prescott familyโ€™s child. The Prescotts have no choice but to accept it!" they thought, feeling triumphant.

The doctor gave Tuff a gentle, almost fatherly smile. โ€œMr. Prescottโ€ฆโ€

Tuff was startled, shouting, โ€œItโ€™s not mine!โ€

โ€œTuff, what are you doing?โ€ Maggie clung to him, refusing to let go. โ€œItโ€™s too late for regrets. Just go along with it! Iโ€™ll talk to Kayla and smooth things overโ€ฆโ€

โ€œTalk about what? I donโ€™t owe anyone an explanation!โ€ Tuff shot back, clearly pissed.

โ€œJoyce said sheโ€™ll take care of the kid herself, and she wonโ€™t bother us or anythingโ€ฆโ€ Maggie tried to calm him down.

โ€œThatโ€™s the dumbest excuse Iโ€™ve ever heard!โ€ Tuff snapped, his eyes blazing with fury.

Tuffโ€™s eyes blazed with rage. He looked downright terrifying.

Joyceโ€™s parents both moved to block her bed, making sure Tuff couldnโ€™t get close enough to lay a hand on her.

โ€œMaggie, which hospital did you get this report from?โ€ Kayla walked in, a little late but with unmistakable authority.

She wore a tailored suit, her long hair swept up in a bun, making her look commanding and gorgeous.

Maggie looked miserable and whispered, โ€œI had my suspicions too, so I secretly went to see an obstetricianโ€ฆโ€

โ€œIs it her?โ€ Kayla asked.

Kayla stepped aside, and Aaron hauled a doctor in a white coat up to the front.

Maggieโ€™s eyes went wide in shock. โ€œDr. Walsh?โ€

โ€œMrs. Prescott, Iโ€™m so sorry!โ€ Orlando Walsh stammered, his whole body shaking. โ€œThe report I gave you was completely fakeโ€ฆโ€

Maggie felt like sheโ€™d been struck by lightning.

โ€œI never actually ran any DNA test. Ms. Lambert told me to forge the whole thingโ€ฆโ€ Orlando confessed, voice trembling.

Tuff, whoโ€™d been so furious and helpless that he wanted to punch himself, finally managed to cool down a bit when he heard this.

โ€˜So the whole report was a fake? I nearly wanted to end it all for nothing!โ€˜ he thought, a wave of relief crashing over him.

โ€œHoneyโ€ฆโ€ Tuff walked over to Kayla, his eyes red and on the verge of tears.

He actually felt like crying this time.

If Kayla hadnโ€™t seen through everything, Joyce wouldโ€™ve totally set him up and ruined him.

Heโ€™d already pictured Kaylaโ€™s furious face a hundred times in his mind, each time backing himself into a corner with no way out, convinced sheโ€™d never forgive him.

โ€œYouโ€™re such a dummy,โ€ Kayla said with a fond smile, pulling Tuff into a hug.

He got framed and was not even able to clear his name. No wonder Tuff was losing it.

Joyce had been sedated, but her mind was still sharp as a tack. She caught every word around her, clear as day.

When Kayla first walked in, Joyce was actually pretty happy.

But the moment Orlando showed up, Joyce knew that her plan had completely fallen apart.

โ€˜How the hell did Kayla even find Orlando? She didnโ€™t even know about the fake report! How did everything go so wrong?โ€˜ Joyce thought, her mind racing with panic.

โ€œCurious, arenโ€™t you, Joyce?โ€ Kayla said, letting go of Tuff and striding right up to her.

Her high heels echoed through the room, each step crisp and sharp.

Every sound was like a drumbeat, striking at Joyceโ€™s nerves.

She tensed up, but she couldnโ€™t move or say a word.

Finally, it hit her that this wasnโ€™t just any sedative. Sheโ€™d been drugged.

โ€˜That attending doctor is shady! Iโ€™ve been drugged!โ€˜ Joyce realized with a jolt, panic and fury mixing in her mind.

โ€œWho are you? Stay away from my daughter. Sheโ€™s not well, sheโ€™s sedated,โ€ Brylee said, stepping protectively in front of Kayla, her guard up.

Kayla replied, โ€œIโ€™m Kayla Kingsley, Tuffโ€™s lawfully wedded wife.โ€

Xzavier just snorted and turned his head away, not saying a word.

Brylee demanded, โ€œWhat are you trying to do?โ€

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you tell me what you think Iโ€™m here for?โ€ Kayla shot back, her voice cool and challenging.

Everyoneโ€™s seen those viral videos of wives going after mistresses lately, so Brylee was freaking out. She looked at Maggie, panicked, and said, โ€œMrs. Prescott, arenโ€™t you going to step in?โ€

Maggie was way too embarrassed to step in.

Besides, she was so mad at Joyce she was about to blow a fuse.

Every time she called out, nobody answered. The whole room was dead silent.

โ€œRelax. Iโ€™m not really the type to throw punches,โ€ Kayla said, a hint of sarcasm curling her lips.

But just as Brylee let her guard down, Kaylaโ€™s smile sharpened. โ€œOf course, if you really piss me off, I might just make you disappear.โ€

โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t dare!โ€ Brylee shrieked, her voice highโ€“pitched with panic.

Xzavier shot up too, glaring at Kayla with all the intensity he could muster.

It was like he thought if he stared hard enough, heโ€™d suddenly turn into some kind of tough guy.

Tuff just shook his head, at a complete loss for words.

โ€˜Dominick, are your sister and parents really like this?โ€˜ Tuff thought, feeling a wave of disbelief and disappointment.

โ€œThereโ€™s nothing I wouldnโ€™t dare,โ€ Kayla said, her voice icy. โ€œJoyce, I know you can hear me. So, can you guess how I found out about your secret hookup and the fake DNA report you tried to fool Maggie with?โ€

Joyce couldnโ€™t utter a sound, but she was burning with curiosity.

โ€˜Why? Why?โ€˜ she screamed inwardly.

โ€˜Does Kayla have some kind of superpower? This is Lunova, not the Kingsleys' turf!โ€˜ Joyce thought, panic rising. โ€˜How the hell did she pull this off here?โ€˜

โ€œIโ€™ve actually had spy training,โ€ Kayla revealed, dropping a bombshell that left everyone reeling.

But it was Maggie who looked the most shaken, her face going pale.

โ€˜No wayโ€ฆ Kayla was trained as a spy?โ€˜ Maggie thought, her mind spinning.

She hurried over and whispered urgently, โ€œDonโ€™t talk nonsense. This isnโ€™t something to joke about!โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s why Iโ€™m pretty good at both spying and counterโ€“spying,โ€ Kayla added, her tone casual but deadly serious.

Joyce felt her blood run cold.

She had no doubt Kayla was telling the truth.

She was utterly crushedโ€“defeated in every way.

Kayla had seen right through her from the start, but instead of confronting her, sheโ€™d just led her around.

No, it wasnโ€™t just like that.

Kayla really was playing her for a fool.

Joyce was that pitiful, selfโ€“important fool who thought she was so cleverโ€ฆ.

โ€œOh, right, you canโ€™t talk right now. Doctor, could you please give her the antidote?โ€ Kayla said with a casual, almost indifferent smile, like nothing could faze her.

The attending doctor, whoโ€™d been watching intently, took out an ampoule and mixed it into Joyceโ€™s IV drip.

Soon enough, Joyce could move again.

She opened her eyes and looked at Kayla, utterly desperate.

Everyone in the room was silent. Even her own parents didnโ€™t know what to say.

Tears brimmed in Joyceโ€™s eyes as she forced her lips to move, her voice hoarse and trembling. โ€œWhy? Why are you doing this to me?โ€
