Chapter 70

When Lauren left the laboratory, it was past 2:00 p.m., and she was very hungry. Kelly, an excellent assistant, immediately brought her food.

Lauren ate in the rest room while Kelly poured her a cup of water and sat beside her. Kelly whispered, "Lauren, your grandfather just called. Aunt Clara is back and wants to see you as soon as possible."

Lauren paused. Jeffery had mentioned Clara before, saying she loved Lauren very much. However, Clara had been abroad and unreachable. Lauren decided to go home.

After lunch, Lauren changed clothes and returned to the Bennett family estate with Kelly. The Bennett estate was near the foot of a mountain, surrounded by a tourist area. Only a portion of the area was open to the public; the rest was reserved for the Bennett family.

The Bennett family had even developed extensive tourist facilities, including hospitals, resort hotels, and office areas. The hospitals and hotels were open to the public, but the office area was where the Bennett family resided.

Kelly drove and was stopped at the gate. Lauren rolled down the window, and the guard allowed them to proceed. A leading guard stepped forward and asked, "Will you be driving this car back often? If so, we'll register it, and you can pass through directly."

Lauren considered this and said, "Yes, I will be, recently."

"Got it," the guard nodded.

Kelly drove into the scenic area and to a point near the house. Lauren got out and walked slowly toward the house. The path was lined with electronic equipment.

The Bennett house was surrounded by many valuable trees. Lauren, wearing light shoes, stepped onto the grass and walked slowly. Suddenly, a familiar voice reached her ears, and she stopped.

"Why are you so unhappy?" The man's voice was languid.

"No, I'm not," Sally replied.

"Come on," the man chuckled, "We grew up together. I know you well."

The man leaned against a tree. After a moment, he asked, "Is it because of Lauren?"

"No," Sally interrupted.

The man sighed. He understood. Upon arriving at the Bennett estate, Clara had repeatedly expressed her fondness for him and mentioned a marriage between him and Lauren.

"Are you afraid I might love her?" the man suddenly approached.

Sally lowered her head. "She has the love of Grandpa, Jeffery, Mom, and Dad. I know that should have been mine. But I don't want to lose you!"

"Don't worry," the man comforted her. "I won't leave you." His tone hardened. "What's yours is yours, and she can't take anything away from you!"

Sally knew Sandy well. After hearing this, she immediately asked, "What are you going to do?"

Sandy chuckled darkly, "Help you take revenge."

"Don't go too far," Sally cautioned.
