Chapter 105

Nathaniel, preoccupied with resolving the essential oil issue, had no time to worry about Lily and the lawsuit. Meanwhile, Lily had begun a new work schedule.

Unlike the previous online chaos, MN Inc. quietly withdrew from the lawsuit. Netizens awaiting the outcome were displeased by the anticlimactic resolution. Controversy ensued, with some suggesting MN Inc.'s withdrawal indicated guilt, allowing Lily to escape public scrutiny. Lily's only Twitter response was, "Justice will prevail. I do not care."

This simple statement gained Lily many new fans. Unconcerned with online developments, she considered herself neither a celebrity nor obligated to manage her fanbase. Her focus remained on work and creating new products.

Early the next morning, Jenny summoned Lily to her office. "Lily, will you be busy at home for the next few days?"

Lily, momentarily stunned, replied, "N-No, I have nothing to do." She was unsure why Jenny posed this question.

Jenny nodded. "That's great. If you have anything to attend to at home, please do so quickly. I'm taking you on a business trip."

"Business trip? Where to?" Lily, recently hired at Rebirth, was surprised by the prospect of a business trip so soon.

"Middle Valley," Jenny replied, producing an invitation. "There's a perfume sampling conference. Plus, the environment is ideal for collecting natural ingredients."

Lily hesitated. While eager to visit Middle Valley, she needed to discuss the tripโ€”which would last several daysโ€”with Alexander first.

Seeing Lily's silence, Jenny repeated, "Lily? Lily? Are you okay? Don't you want to go?"

Lily shook her head. "It's not that. I wouldn't want to miss such a great opportunity. However, I'm new. Aren't you worried I'll mess this up, Ms. Gray?"

Jenny chuckled. "It's just a conference. Why would you mess that up? Besides, I see potential in you. While experience is important for a perfumer, talent is crucial. Not everyone excels in this field." Jenny was right. Many worked in the Project Department, but few were true perfumers. Besides Jenny, none had achieved widespread recognition. Even globally, top perfumers were rare. Lily, however, possessed exceptional talent. Although Jenny initially harbored prejudices about Lily's connections securing her position, Lilyโ€™s recent work had proven her wrong.

"Ms. Gray, thank you for your affirmation."

Jenny rolled her eyes. "No need for that. I want you to come with me because I have something important to do. Pack your bags; we leave the day after tomorrow."

"S-Sure," Lily replied, though she found the timeline rushed. Such events usually involved months of planning. Needing to prepare, Lily left early. Home was quiet; Alexander was still at work. After slipping into comfortable slippers, she played soothing music and prepared fruit tea, relishing the tranquil atmosphere.
