Chapter 1073
Heather entered the house and heard a commotion in the kitchen. She went to investigate and found Hannah. Heather's face darkened. "What do you think you're doing?" she demanded.
Hannah started at her sister's voice. The pot cover trembled in her hand; escaping steam scalded her, eliciting a soft yelp.
"You're so clumsy!" Heather exclaimed, frustration evident. "Come here!"
"I-I'm sorry," Hannah stammered, apologizing more frequently lately. More obedient now, she quickly left the kitchen carrying a bowl of warm soup, its heat preserved by a cotton cloth. The aroma was enticing.
Heather frowned, examining the bowl. "What's this?"
"I made some soup for you," Hannah murmured, avoiding eye contact. She gently pushed the bowl toward Heather, hoping to please her.
"Who permitted you to cook? You should stay in your room until I tell you to come out!" Heather declared, unbuttoning her blouse. A thought struck her; she fetched a weighing scale. Turning to Hannah, she ordered, "Come here and stand on it!"
Although Hannah's presence wasn't strictly necessary lately, maintaining a similar physique was crucial. Heather, ever prepared, always prioritized appearances.
Hannah approached obediently, but Heather stopped her. Hannah looked up questioningly as Heather's lips thinned. "Put down the bowl," she instructed.
She's so stupid sometimes. Why do I always have to tell her how to do things?!
Fortunately, Heather was in a good mood and, surprisingly patient, didn't mind the delay.
"Oh! Sorry!" Hannah apologized, placing the bowl on the table before stepping onto the scale.
Heather's frown deepened at the reading. "I told you to eat more, didn't I?! How did you lose even more weight? You need to maintain a similar appearance. Increase your food intake at every meal starting tomorrow."
Hannah wanted to explain that she couldn't eat more, but swallowed the words; they would change nothing. She never had the right to disagree. The problem wasn't her intake, but Heather's frequent workouts. Heather, though thin, was lean and muscular, while Hannah's less active lifestyle resulted in a different body composition, making weight gain difficult regardless of her diet. Heather, however, cared only for results.
"All right, that's it. You can leave now," Heather dismissed her, eager to examine a recent acquisition.
Hannah remained standing, hesitating.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you listening?"
"N-No. It's just that..." Hannah mumbled, "...the soup..."
