Chapter 1420

Galen thought his mother would severely reprimand him. He happily wanted to show off his skill, realizing Lily wasn't going to scold him; in fact, she admitted she couldn't open the lock herself. Galen put his tiny hands together, twisted them, and said, "Poof!" to demonstrate how he'd opened it.

Others might not understand, but as Lily's son, she grasped his demonstration immediately, though she found it hard to believe.

"That was it?" she asked.

"Uh-huh," he nodded vigorously.

Lily considered this, then gestured to the maid. "Please lock the showcase."

The maid was puzzled. Dominic approached as the maid looked to him for instruction. He, too, was curious how a toddler could open the showcase. Initially, he'd assumed it was an accident, a result of the maids not properly locking it. Now, after Lily questioned her son, he re-examined the lock and realized the maid wasn't at fault. 'If Galen opened it,' he thought, 'he must be a child prodigy.'

Dominic stood by the showcase, waving the still-observant maid away impatiently. "Why are you looking at me? Lock it!"

"O-Oh..." she replied, deftly securing the lock.

To confirm it was properly locked, Lily tugged at it, finding she couldn't open it without the key. She looked at her son. "Here you go." She pointed toward the showcase, wanting him to demonstrate.

Galen, too short to reach, stepped onto a small stool he used for play. He held a thin, flexible cable—apparently pulled from a toy—in his hand. He cocked his head, inserted the cable slowly, and meticulously manipulated it with several twisting motions, much like his earlier demonstration, all while listening intently. Then, just as he'd shown Lily, he said, "Poof!" and the lock sprang open.

Everyone stared except the little boy, who happily pointed at the showcase, proudly straightening his back, awaiting his mother's praise.

Lily was still reeling from the shock. Her son was less than two, and she'd never noticed anything unusual about him. She'd only told Alexander that, given their high IQs, their children wouldn't be dull. Alexander had cautioned against expecting too much, emphasizing the importance of their son's health, happiness, and safety. As for Galen's future, they'd simply have to wait and see. Lily certainly hadn't expected his first displayed talent to be this.

"What can I say? Does he have the talent to be a locksmith...or a safebreaker?" She was so shocked, she hardly knew what to say, palming her forehead as she struggled to process what she'd witnessed.

Meanwhile, Galen, receiving no praise, looked puzzled that his mother wasn't upset. Hesitantly, he turned to Dominic.
