Chapter 1513

Cameron acknowledged Lily with a slight nod. "Are you here to visit Tasia?"

"Yes," Lily replied. "I heard she was injured and hospitalized. What happened?"

Tasia attempted to sit up, but Lily quickly intervened, gently pressing her back down. "Don't move. Lie still, okay?"

"I'm fine!" Tasia insisted, blushing at being treated like a critically ill patient.

"Look at yourself," Cameron countered. "How can you say you're fine?" Her face, marred by wounds treated with merbromin and a bandaged forehead, was a stark contrast to her words.

Lily, uncertain of the extent of Anastasia's injuries, could see they were not insignificant. "I really am okay," Anastasia explained. "These are external wounds. My fatherโ€ฆ he wants me to stay for further observation." She blushed, glancing at her father.

"It's for your good!" Cameron stated firmly.

Reassured that the injuries weren't severe, Lily relaxed. "What happened? How did you get hurt so suddenly?"

Anastasia hesitated, pursing her lips. Lily, puzzled, looked between her and Cameron, who stood silently aside, seeming reluctant to discuss the matter.

"Hasn't Alex returned yet?" Cameron asked, surprising Lily. She hadn't mentioned Alexander's return to anyone, nor had she seen him. Unsure of the situation, she simply shook her head. "No."

"Although things aren't stable there," Cameron continued, "he's always been capable. You shouldn't worry too much."

Lily was taken aback by his unexpected reassurance. "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Rollins," she replied, nodding.

Cameron, seemingly finished, turned to his daughter. "Let the doctor observe her for a few more hours. If everything's fine, I'll have the chauffeur send you home."

"Okay," Anastasia agreed. "Are you leaving, Dad?"

"Yes," he replied. "There's a lot of work lately. Take care of yourself, okay?" He paused, then glanced at Lily. "Thank you."

Lily was perplexed. Noticing her expression, Cameron, unusually forthcoming, explained, "Tasia's been in remarkably good shape lately. She's lost a lot of weight and has been in high spirits. I know the credit goes to you, Mrs. Russell. Thank you."

Lily was astonished by his thanks. Mr. Rollins has always been so reserved and serious. It's rare for him to speak kindly, let alone thank me, she thought, nodding. "You're welcome," she replied. "Tasia's my friend. And honestly, I haven't done much."

"No, I've gotten better because of you!" Anastasia insisted confidently.

"Yes," Cameron said, giving Lily a thoughtful look before departing.

As soon as he left, Lily turned to Anastasia. "Tasia, did you tell your father you wereโ€ฆ poisoned?"

"He knows," Anastasia confirmed, nodding. "The doctor mentioned it too."
