"Then...get used to it!" Lily laughed.
It was late. The room was quiet; the man on the bed seemed soundly asleep, breathing evenly. Suddenly, a corner of the quilt lifted, and he sat up. He wasn't hurried. He turned to look at the woman beside him. Seeing her still asleep, her back to him, he slowly lowered his feet and stood, moving lightly. Then he quietly left the room.
As soon as he was gone, the woman opened her eyes and stared at the closed door. In the darkness, her clear eyes filled with tears. She turned her head; the wheelchair beside the bed hadn't moved. Yet, no one slept beside her. Her heart plummeted, shattering into a thousand pieces.
'He's really lying to me! Why did he pretend to be handicapped, sitting in a wheelchair, when he could walk?'
Taking deep breaths, Olivia got up, put on a coat, and quietly left the room. The living room was empty. She saw Edward's house slippers; he'd clearly gone out.
'Where is he going by himself in the middle of the night?'
After considering, she changed her shoes and followed. She took the elevator downstairs and left the apartment, only to find her car, parked around the corner, gone. She was stunned.
Edward's legs were fine; he could even drive. Olivia knew none of this, believing him badly injured and critical. Now, he was driving in the middle of the night to an unknown location.
'Where is he going?'
She couldn't hold back; she decided to call Lily.
Lily had just returned home from Dominic's house, exhausted from collecting rare herbs in his greenhouse. Alexander had also just arrived and was waiting. Before he could speak, her phone rang.
"Ugh..." she groaned, tired. She didn't want to answer.
"It's so late. You don't have to answer," Alexander said, distressed by her exhaustion.
They had been extremely busy. He had the means to stay busy; her current situation, however, was tiring. They constantly worried about viruses and the harm they might cause, feeling burdened with saving the world. Yet, they couldn't ignore it; they would do whatever was necessary.
Even then, Lily checked her phone. The caller ID startled her; she looked at Alexander. "It's Olivia!"
