Lily put down her fork and knife, picked up a spoon, and cut into the cake. She ate it, closing her eyes to savor the sweetness.
"It seems I've been too kind to you," Fred stormed, sweeping the food onto the floor. The cup and plates shattered on impact.
Lily gazed at him, casually licking the cream from her spoon. The aide, having heard the commotion, almost ran upstairs, but stopped, obeying Fred's order to remain downstairs.
Fred's anger flared at Lily's composure. He would have strangled her, had he not needed her. Her next words only fueled his rage.
She put down her spoon, her gaze moving from him to the hand that had swept away the food. "Your arm has healed, huh?"
Lily intentionally reminded him of his injury. His arm, while healed after a few days in a splint, still ached with use. But that was nothing compared to her other actions. "What poison did you make me swallow?" Fred demanded, his eyes bloodshot.
Lily raised an eyebrow and smiled. "I have no idea."
"How is that possible?!" Fred exploded.
"Hey, you didn't believe me when I said it was poison, right? Fine, I didn't poison you. It was just a vitamin," Lily said. "Are you happy now?"
Her words, however, only intensified his fury. "Bullshit! I don't believe you. I know you poisoned me. What kind of poison is it?!"
Despite his fear of Lily's fighting skills, Fred grabbed and shook her shoulders. Lily allowed it, understanding his reaction. "You haven't been around for two days. You must've gone to confirm it with someone, right?"
Though the staff served Lily her meals as usual, she sensed something was amiss. Fred's two-day absence, coupled with the staff's uneasy demeanor, made her guess obvious.
"Yes, someone confirmed that you poisoned me! What the hell is it? How could you possibly create a poison?" Fred remained incredulous.
