Listen to this chapter:

I agree. However, as friends of many years, I warn you: this is your family's affair, and only you can decide. If you need help, Alexander and I will assist. Still, we must adhere to protocol in official matters.

Cameron offered a comprehensive and flexible response.

Ross pursed his lips, then smiled. "Point taken. Nonetheless, let's enjoy tonight and avoid politics."

"Agreed, no politics tonight!" Cameron nodded, raising his glass. "Delighted to see you after all these years. To a pleasant visit in Hyderland!"

"Thanks!" Ross looked at Alexander with a smile.

Alexander raised his glass. "To a pleasant visit! If you need anything, please ask; I'm at your service."

"Thank you in advance," Ross smiled, finishing his wine.

From then on, Cameron avoided mentioning Fred or the experiments. Their conversation flowed casually, covering amusing news, travel, and cuisine.

Alexander understood the discussion was concluded, and Ross knew his next steps. He would have mirrored Cameron's approach. However, Alexander remained uneasy; the matter concerned Lily.

He placed great hope in Ross. His involvement would significantly ease the situation.

Ross, however, wouldn't readily agree. As a prince, his words could easily be used against him.

Alexander understood, yet couldn't shake his gloom.

The three enjoyed drinks late into the night. After seeing Prince Ross off, Cameron found Alexander standing with a troubled expression.

"Why the troubled look? His lack of commitment?" Cameron asked, gently patting Alexander's shoulder.

Alexander forced a smile. "Knowing who he is, I understand he can't simply agree, let alone make promises."

"Precisely," Cameron nodded. "Knowing this, why the gloom?"

"Because I can wait, but Lily can't. If Fred starts the experiment now, then she..." He trailed off, anxiety evident.
