Chapter 235

This was Olivia's first glimpse into the lives of the wealthy. The security guards were intimidating from the moment she arrived. She was awestruck by the house's vast garden, the well-maintained plants, the house's design, and the number of luxury cars Alexander owned. Everything underscored Alexander's wealth.

Edward opened the front door as Alexander carried Lily bridal style. Alexander looked thin but was surprisingly strong. To Olivia, Lily didn't appear tired at all. Olivia froze on the front porch before hurrying inside after them.

She saw Alexander settle Lily comfortably on the sofa and wanted to get her some water. However, she didn't know where to find water in the massive house. She also wanted to find a blanket, but didn't know where that was either.

Alexander was already attending to Lily, making Olivia feel entirely superfluous. She wanted to leave but dared not, as Alexander had forbidden it. She could only stand awkwardly on the sidelines.

After hesitating, she finally spoke, "Mr. Russell, may I?"

Alexander briefly glanced at Olivia and instructed, "Edward, see her home safely."

"I—It's fine. I can get home myself!" She stole a glance at the quiet Edward and quickly waved her hands in polite refusal. Edward pursed his lips and agreed, "Okay!" Olivia's opinion was disregarded as she watched the exchange. She had no choice but to remain silent; it was also the safest option, as hailing a cab in the area so late at night would be difficult.

"T-Then I'll take my leave," Olivia glanced at Lily, whose face was now red. "Lily had too much to drink tonight. You should give her some hangover remedies if it's not too much trouble. That would make her feel better."

"Okay," Alexander nodded, his gaze fixed on Lily. He didn't even say goodbye when she and Edward left.

"Ugh, I'm thirsty," Lily licked her dry lips and whined.

Alexander was annoyed by her drunkenness and even considered spanking her.

"I'm dying of thirst!" Lily continued to whine, unknowingly pouting. Alexander silently watched her cute antics. After a few seconds, he stood up and fetched her a glass of water.

He brought her lukewarm water, knowing she had a sensitive stomach. He helped her sit up properly and brought the glass to her lips. Lily drank it instantly.

As soon as she finished, she fell back onto the sofa and complained softly, "What was that? It tasted bad!"

"Lily, don't push it!" Alexander warned, setting down the glass and feeling his eyebrow twitch.

Dazed, Lily heard someone call her name. She struggled to open her eyes and saw a silhouette. "A-Alex?" she whispered.

"Hmm?" Alexander mumbled.

"What took you so long?" Lily got up unsteadily. Alexander feared she might fall and hurt herself, so he quickly caught her and sat beside her.

"I've missed you!" Lily hugged him the moment he sat down. His anger subsided at her sweet gesture, and he swallowed his retort.
