Chapter 2353
"You suffered? From what?" Yasmin asked curiously, unaware of his ordeal.
Dominic sighed, shaking his head. "I'd rather not discuss it."
"Why?" Yasmin's curiosity and concern were piqued; she had finally met someone her own age.
Dominic considered her. "It's over now; I simply thought it unnecessary. I was infected with a virus some time ago, nearly died. Fortunately, I survived."
Yasmin blinked. "A virus? What virus?" She was curious which virus could challenge a miracle doctor.
Dominic replied flatly, "It originated here. Didn't you know?"
"I... I didn't." A moment later, realization dawned on Yasmin. Was Dominic infected by the virus from Fred's lab? She felt a conflict of emotions. She empathized with his suffering, yet also felt a strange pride in her people's creationโa virus so potent it felled even the miracle doctor.
"Then what happened? You're fine now, aren't you?" she asked.
Dominic nodded. "Yes, I was cured. Or are you talking to a ghost?" He chuckled heartily. "Anyway, I suffered greatly, and my health isn't what it used to be."
He then coughed violently, proving his point. He quickly drank some water, regained his composure, and straightened.
Yasmin inquired, "During your infection, were you afraid of dying?"
"Dying?" Dominic nodded. "Of course, I was. Who wouldn't be? Those who claim otherwise likely haven't faced it."
Yasmin nodded, relieved to find someone who shared her sentiments. "Yes, people only claim they aren't afraid because they haven't reached our age." She sighed. "It would be wonderful to live forever."
"Live forever?" Dominic stared, shocked. "No, that doesn't sound wonderful at all."
"Don't you want to live forever?" She expected the miracle doctor to share her sentiment.
"Not even slightly!" Dominic stated firmly, chin raised.
