Chapter 261

No one would have expected Frank to be so daring. He did something like that in broad daylight! Lily grabbed his wrist and twisted it with all her might.

"Gah!" Frank cried out in pain, but remained rooted to the spot.

Lily's attempt failed because she underestimated Frank's physique. His wrist was thicker than she anticipated, and her strength was insufficient to break it. Unbeknownst to Lily, she had inadvertently provoked him. A look of excitement filled his blue eyes as he said, "What a wild and beautiful woman. I must say, I like you a lot."

"Asshole!" Lily spat, kicking him in the lower abdomen.

This time, Frank was ready. He stepped back to dodge, reaching for her leg to gain advantage. However, he underestimated her strength. He caught her leg, but she overpowered him, sending him flying backward.

Bang!

He landed heavily, accompanied by the sickening crack of breaking bones. He'd broken his wrist. "Ouch! Youโ€ฆ"

Frank stared at Lily in disbelief. Did this weak, gentle woman throw me to the ground? She looks like she'd struggle carrying two pails of water! He wondered if she had received some kind of training. They were alone; no one else witnessed the altercation.

Lily ignored him, intending to leave. She was about to walk away when he called out, "Please wait!" She hesitated, his polite tone prompting her to stop. She regretted it instantly upon hearing his next words. "You don't know who I am, but I know who you are," Frank said. "You're the talented perfumer who nearly brought down MN Inc.'s perfume department. You're capable, unlike Melanie."

The mention of her old friend stopped Lily again. She turned to him. "What are you trying to say?" His roundabout approach was childish and frustrating. Frank took two steps forward, forcing a smile through the pain. He'd overestimated his charm. "But as a perfumer, what good is talent without flexibility and adaptability?"

"Even if you're talented and capable, so what? You haven't made an impact in recent years. Someone else got credit for your hard work." He approached her slowly.
