Chapter 350
"You don't have the right to ask questions. Spill it! What do you want with me?" Lily demanded, stomping on Frank's back.
"I-I" Frank took a deep breath, spitting out blood as he exhaled. He'd lost everything; he had nothing left to fear. He decided to confess.
"Who put you up to this? Mel? Nate? Someone else?" Lily narrowed her eyes, increasing the pressure of her foot. If it were Mel or Nate, she could handle them. Anyone else, however, required caution.
"No one," Frank said. "I just wanted to mess with you! You're a slut who got dumped by Nathaniel. Why are you acting so high and mighty, refusing to sleep with me? I'll make sure you—"
Before he could finish, Lily stomped on him again, eliciting more blood. "Scum!" she spat. "You're a disgrace to all perfumers!" She continued to apply pressure, preventing him from getting up. Glancing at her watch, she saw the police should arrive soon. She'd called them when she'd opened the door for Frank, providing an estimated location. She wouldn't let him go free.
"Hah, let me tell you something, Lily!" Frank said, turning himself over on the ground, giving up on struggling. "Just because you're good at self-defense doesn't mean you'll be an amazing perfumer! Establishing yourself in this industry isn't as simple as you think, especially for people from your country! You're the lowest kind of perfumer, and you'll never be successful! Never!"
"Lowest, huh?" Lily's cold voice cut through the air. Her gaze shifted from Frank's bloodied face to his groin. Disgust flooded her as she recalled his plans. She stepped hard on his genitals.
"Gah!" Frank grimaced, clutching himself and rolling on the floor in pain, unable even to curse.
"Disgusting filth!" Lily spat. She was about to leave when her sharp senses detected something amiss. A split second later, she moved left, avoiding a bullet.
"Move! Kill her! Don't let her escape!" Christopher's maniacally shouted from upstairs, firing shot after shot. Lily was surprised by his quick recovery. She hid behind overturned tables, thinking, He probably just had time to regain his composure. She'd been slacking in her training for two years. While her body remembered how to fight, her strength and accuracy needed time to recover. She was upset at her carelessness. She also heard another voice—Jo, the man with sunglasses, likely freed by Christopher. Only Leonel, the driver, remained subdued.
"Come out, you bitch! I'll kill you!" Christopher screamed. He'd never been so humiliated, despite previous escapes by his targets.
As the shots continued, Frank, struggling to his feet, used a scavenged wooden plank for protection. He laughed. "Lily, you won't get away this time!"
Ironically, Lily remained calm, observing the situation through a gap between sofas. She smiled. "Unfortunately, you're the ones who won't get away!"
Suddenly, a loud sound erupted just as she was about to attack.
